I think the list system is removing images.
Should I remove myself from the list, and then register once again with a
different ID/Password?

Re: Update of the twelve outdated localizations

2021-05-18 Thread Marcus
rs are old.

I have done my initial investigation using the site Website Links

Count

Checker - Find External & internal Links (smallseotools.com)<
https://smallseotools.com/website-links-count-checker/> to find

the

links

coming from their respective pages.

The source is in the "xx" default set.

I will just need the link to the source, but I assume I can just

inspect

the en-US page and copy-paste to create the translations...

This will actually be quite a simple task to complete. Thank God.

To start with I can do the 'MAIN PAGE' and the 'DOWNLOADS PAGE'

Then, the next stage would/could be,
PRODUCT
SUPPORT
EXTENSIONS
PROJECTS
PRIVACY
CONTACT US
DONATE
ect

OK, maybe it was not clear enough what the default set is. Please

let

me

explain:

../xx/index.html
../xx/brand.md
../xx/topnav.md
../xx/download/*
../xx/extensions/*
../xx/java/*
../xx/participate/*
../xx/product/*
../xx/social/*
../xx/support/*
../xx/why*/

Everything else is very like not up to date. Therefore translating

it

doesn't make sense. ;-)

I hope it's now more clear. If not just give me a mail.

Marcus

) and am planning to run them through some sort of translate

service

to

update them. They will likely require some proof reading by a

native

speaker, but hopefully will be good enough to allow understanding.

just to make it clear and that no misunderstanding is happening.

When these webpages are re-newed then they have to be updated

with

the

default set of pages. Just updating and translating the existing

pages

is not enough.

I will start with esperanto (eo) for a test run. So where do I

find

the

original source to translate from?

Great. I'm looking forward to see / read some new context for

Esperanto.

:-)

I also updated the News section beginning with:

https://github.com/apache/openoffice-org/blob/main/content/hy/index.html#L366

In:

https://github.com/apache/openoffice-org/blob/main/content/hy/brand.md

search= needs to be translated.

I hope that helps.

Hi Matthias,
for ...hy/download/index.html
I can see a note: " Small corrections for hy"
but can't find any untranslated lines.
Also in the page https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/hy/
the second line is in English, e.g. "I want to download Apache OpenOffice"

Where is this line hidden? In which file?
thanks

No more files for the moment, but since I updated some of them there are
now some English strings visible:

We plan to publish this weekend.

I have found the directory tree at
github.com/apache/openoffice-org/tree/main/content , I intend to work from this
source. I will figure out a quick way to translate these pages by extracting
the text to be translated from the .htm and running through a translator and
then poking them back in. It seems a little more clear to me since Tigran has
been working on the hy set.

that's great. In the meantime the text in the staging area [1] was
improved. So, you can see where and how the text is displayed.

One more thing that is important:
Please don't expect every text in the same file. E.g., here [1]:

The data in the header, breadcrumbs, navigation header, body and footer
are in different files. This is our templating system to ensure the same
look & feel on every page.

Things are a little confusing regarding links on my end as we use outlook for
our emails, and they convert all our links to some terrible nonsense, and we
don't have the ability to change this feature (set by admins).

Ah, thanks for this information. Then I know how I have to see this and
can ignore it. ;-)

This was initiated from the dev-mailing-list under subject "OOo:eo Localization
page"

Going forward, there is probably a better way to do this direct from the html
for someone who know coding. But it only really took me about half a day to
translate this in a text editor with no prior knowledge, on a basic workstation.

This language was pretty easy to do, because it shares roots with the english
language. I cannot imagine doing this for some of the more exotic languages...

I hope all is well with everyone.

I think this is a great point for a start. Thanks

Hi Marcus,

I have found the directory tree at
github.com/apache/openoffice-org/tree/main/content , I intend to work from this
source. I will figure out a quick way to translate these pages by extracting
the text to be translated from the .htm and running through a translator and
then poking them back in. It seems a little more clear to me since Tigran has
been working on the hy set.

Things are a little confusing regarding links on my end as we use outlook for
our emails, and they convert all our links to some terrible nonsense, and we
don't have the ability to change this feature (set by admins).

Thank you for your ongoing work!

If the missing parts on the download page are translated the page will
qualify as "maintained".

Drop me a line whenever you have time!

Any more files to be translated?
Should I work also with the files from the folders Archive and downloads?
thanks,

../xx/extensions/*

please use the applied pages to https://www.openoffice.org/eo/. They now
contain all that should be trannslated.

Dynamic content like blog posts or news are always a bit outdated. Here
you can take it from the main page https://www.openoffice.org/.

Thanks for the translations
so far. I've saved it locally in the case that it is somehow deleted
suddenly.

I'll try to include it in the website and will build a webpage in the
staging area for testing (OK, mostly it's only reading ;-) ).

I'll do this in the next days.

Please be patient.

I think this is a great point for a start.

This language was pretty easy to do, because it shares roots with the

OK, I've changed the tasks a bit. ;-)

First of all I've moved all old things into an Archive [1]. The default
set of webpage is now applied and available [2]. I've inserted your
translated text into the "index.html", so you can start to check.

[1] https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/Archive/
[2] https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/

Only the following pages need to be translated:

https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/msg_prop_l10n_eo.js
(only the real strings, not the comments, URLs or keywords)

https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/download/msg_prop_l10n_eo.js
(only the real strings, not the comments, URLs or keywords)

https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/social/index.html
https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/support/index.html

https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/why/why_new_computers.html
https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/why/why_nfp.html
https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/why/why_odf.html
https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/why/why_oem.html
https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/why/why_office2003-end-of-life.html

https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/why/why_sme.html
https://openoffice-org.staged.apache.org/eo/why/why_volunteers.html

Furthermore, there are some other, single texts. But I think it's better
doing this when the whole webpages are done. Otherwise it would be too
confusing.

Have fun :-)

When these webpages are re-newed then they have to be updated with the
default set of pages. Just updating and translating the existing pages
is not enough.

I will start with esperanto (eo) for a test run. So where do I find the

yes, there are some exceptions where the default set is not completely
applied. Mostly where the older localization is still correct and
(somehow) up to date. And when there is nobody who could help with
translation like for "ja" and "ko".

OK, maybe it was not clear enough what the default set is. Please let me
explain:

../xx/index.html
../xx/brand.md
../xx/topnav.md
../xx/download/*
../xx/extensions/*
../xx/java/*
../xx/participate/*
../xx/product/*
../xx/social/*
../xx/support/*
../xx/why*/

Everything else is very like not up to date. Therefore translating it
doesn't make sense. ;-)

I hope it's now more clear. If not just give me a mail.

I don't think Tigran has an Apache id to link with GitHub.

However, the GitHub account is all he needs at the moment.

@Tigran:

Let's begin with brand.md:

https://github.com/apache/openoffice-org/blob/main/content/hy/brand.md

Click on the "pencil" on the right side to edit.

When you have finished translation, go further down to "Commit changes".
I think "Create a *new branch* for this commit and start a pull
request." is the only option you have at the moment.

A pull request can still be changed and discussed before someone does
merge it.

www.openoffice.org /ABC/ rather than what some translations have

done,

ie

the FR has links such as https:// www.openoffice.org/Participer<
http://www.openoffice.org/Participer>

I have done my initial investigation using the site Website Links

Count

Checker - Find External & internal Links (smallseotools.com)<
https://smallseotools.com/website-links-count-checker/> to find the

links

coming from their respective pages.

I will just need the link to the source, but I assume I can just

inspect

the en-US page and copy-paste to create the translations...

This will actually be quite a simple task to complete. Thank God.

To start with I can do the 'MAIN PAGE' and the 'DOWNLOADS PAGE'

Then, the next stage would/could be,
PRODUCT
SUPPORT
EXTENSIONS
PROJECTS
PRIVACY
CONTACT US
DONATE
ect

I doubt it is wise to translate the "Copyright & License" pages at

this

time.

Fun, fun 

When these webpages are re-newed then they have to be updated with the

I will start with esperanto (eo) for a test run. So where do I find

Great. I'm looking forward to see / read some new context for

Great!

The code for the Armenian webpages is here:

and:

Do you have a GitHub account? If so, you can update the files and create

Re: Update of the twelve outdated localizations

2021-05-12 Thread Taavi Kaevats
Hello,

I am current Estonian(et) translator for Apache OpenOffice. Its one of the
twelve languages whose webpages is marked outdated.

Two years ago the main page and the download page were partly translated
using the latest source available at the time. Before it the page used an
old template, but was localized.

Last 5+ years (maybe 10 y) the page has never (in my knowledge) been
labeled maintained. The language is not selectable from drop-down menu (i
was told it is related to the fact that the program has no release for
estonian language since Apache obtained it from Sun). The UI for AOO 4.2 is
today 100% in Estonian (but the version is not released).

I am busy these days and am slowly working on help files. I do not know how
to proceed with web page. If i can help with it i am willing to do so when
i have time.

Best wishes,
Taavi

Re: Update of the twelve outdated localizations

2021-05-12 Thread Dean . Webber
I have updated the "main" page for the Esperanto (EO) language, code is
available at https://justpaste.it/8yuud.

I have just looked through how all the localizations have been done. It seems
that many of them have only the main page (ie https://
www.openoffice.org/ko/<http://www.openoffice.org/ko/> ) and the downloads page
modified ie (https://www.openoffice.org/ja/download/index.html). There are
certainly some greats exceptions to these, where many of the sections have be
translated, so props to those whom have translated previously.

It seems that the best organization to the pages is https:// www.openoffice.org
/ABC/ rather than what some translations have done, ie the FR has links such as
https:// www.openoffice.org/Participer<http://www.openoffice.org/Participer>

I have done my initial investigation using the site Website Links Count Checker
- Find External & internal Links
(smallseotools.com)<https://smallseotools.com/website-links-count-checker/> to
find the links coming from their respective pages.

I will just need the link to the source, but I assume I can just inspect the
en-US page and copy-paste to create the translations...

This will actually be quite a simple task to complete. Thank God.

To start with I can do the 'MAIN PAGE' and the 'DOWNLOADS PAGE'

Then, the next stage would/could be,
PRODUCT
SUPPORT
EXTENSIONS
PROJECTS
PRIVACY
CONTACT US
DONATE
ect

I doubt it is wise to translate the "Copyright & License" pages at this time.

Fun, fun 

Hello Marcus,
can I hope that after that update, lost translation for Armenian Help will
be recovered?
As mentioned earlier now I see only 28% is translated, although I have
achieved 95% .
thanks,

Hi everyone,

I have seen the list of twelve outdated localizations from here ( OpenOffice in

planning to run them through some sort of translate service to update them.
They will likely require some proof reading by a native speaker, but hopefully

I will start with esperanto (eo) for a test run. So where do I find the
original source to translate from?
