[MMouse]: mo mo in providence
it makes me happy that its almost like this list is run by the new englanderseverytime modest mouse plays here theres always so much hype on ehre and shit..so many people have posted set lists to the p-town show...hey i really do get a kick out of it. just wait for them to play in maine (some day) and ill post on here 500 times i swear. so yeah...i agree with what everyone has said so far about the show..no great but you cant knock it. i was hoping to hear talking shit about a pretty sunset. i thought 764 hero did a fine job...polly's such a solid drummer..and james (the bassist..that his name right?) is fuin to watch. anyway...lupo's is so big..i got a kick out of it...there were so many kids there..and still it wasnt sold out. how many kids do you think? many many hundred. those two wastes running and screaming and climbing on light poles are the shittiest. fuck um. anyway...lupo's isnt good for meeting people...too dark and and too big. i was hoping to meet kids fromk the list tho. i had a small boston celtics hoodie on...some kid was wearing a celtics t shirt. i kicked his teeth in. oh yeah i almost forgot..the best part of the show was the free condoms. it made for great fun on the long ride home making balloons..cola flavored. oh well. im brain dead still recovering from it. love and witchtowns like providence and sanfrancisco(whatever the fuck that means-what a crack head), andrew
[MMouse]: dusty's in control
dusty you're like the tough guy everyone's afraid of..phil totally pussied out to you. use your power wisely love andrew re: Ok, me sorry Dusty. Phil
[MMouse]: mo-mo in P-town
so yeah im excited for the providence show tomarrow..someone say hi to me...ill be wearing a shirt that says "MAINE" on it and it has seagulls. should be good. oh yeah i was at the joan of arc show last night..it was a wacky time..joan of arc were interesting (as usual love.whenevert ive seen them they are never really GOOD or BAD just interesting. gotta love the guy with the powerbook. oh yeah the lapse were good but a little dull..didnt talk between songs which is a pet peeve of mine. oh yeah and not that im too surprised but the first band was so bad and played for so long. christ almighty. oh well. hope to see some people tomarrow. byebye love andrew p.s. i had the greatest brownie yeasterday before the show...from the harvest co op...seriously the best brownie of my life..and yes i rememebr what brownies are supposd to taste like from before i was vegan and this was still the greatest..the fact that it was vegan makes it all the cooler that it was the greatest/
[MMouse]: MM in rhode island
okay so i thought i wasnt going to go to lupos for the show but i scrounged up some money for a ticket and i got a ride...im excited now. who else is playing? 764 hero right? anyone else? i hope this is better than the boston show which was great..but just didnt seem right. who else will be there? we need a to have a dance off. fuck yeah. so what's 764 heros's set lists been looking like? do they play any old stuff...high school poetry?...now your swimming? or is it all just new stuff? oh well should be good either way. oh well im psyched as hell. bye bye. love and getting shoved by a cop tonight for dumpster diving andrew
[MMouse]: MONTREAL
i was just wondering if anyone on this list is from montreal or near it..and can tell me of some cool places there..or whatever. im supposed to be making a trip there in like two weeks i think. the only thing there my friend knows about is a strip club..and im not having any of that. oh well. any help would be awesome. thank you. love and lap dances for all, andrew
[MMouse]: actually, pimpin IS easy-----joan of arc in boston
with all the talk about people meeting...it made me think that anyone in new england on this list should meet for the joan of arc show in boston. you all should go. im excited for it. ive missed too many shows this summer dammit. i know its a ways away but ill remind all of you. love andrew
[MMouse]: sean macabe
god...i know its bad..but im not even believing that hes dead...i meanof all the people to pull something like that i would expect him tono disrespect if the guy really is dead..but i dont know...someone told me he died of a herion overdose..and ive heard all the stories before about ink and dagger being total heroin addicts but i never believed that. i figured it was a rumor...probly started by them. and now this. who knows. if he really is dead its sad cause i know a lot of people wont believe it. love and dead vampires, andrew
[MMouse]: more words i love
here's another thing i loveany sexual term with the word "job" at the end. handjob blowjob, whatever. also its fun to use the "job" in non-sexual things...like instead of giving someone a backrub...give them a *BACKJOB* punching someone is a fistjob too but there can be some misunderstandings with that one. snootch love and kissjobs to all andrew
[MMouse]: favorite words
aerobercize. love and working out while listening to journey and holy shit my toast is burning...
[MMouse]: sleepwalking
the origional is by SANTO & JOHNNY..its wicked wicked good. see the movie sleepwalkers...its got that song a lot. its a shitty movie but its entertainingly shitty. a stephen king story btw. oh yeah and my best friend named her cat CLOVIS after the cat in that movie. love and ugly assed naked vamipres andrew
[MMouse]: re: synchronize swatches
leigh leigh leigh plase dont think less of me for that..you know the thought ran through my head..but i got operation dumbo drop mixed up with that elephant movie with bill murry (tard?) and it didnt make sense. anyway whats it going to take to prove myself and my coolness to you? a fat labert coloring book a backrub and pair of maternity underpants signed by davey vonBohlen? (i swear to jesus lord in heaven that last item exists..at the michigan fest we asked him to sign it and he did..and he gave us a quarter for gas to get back to maine. oh yeah and my friend melissa who reads this list too says someone on this list signed the undwear too...'frenchy' or something. oh well this is parenthetical sentance is way too long) anyway...goodbye. forever leigh. love and skinny dipping in a sea of someone else andrew
[MMouse]: Re: Digest modestmouse.v001.n1128
herman from herman's head was william ragsdale...from mannequinn 2...DUHH..so he has been on other things..but nothing since herman.he was also in FRIGHTNIGHT one AND two...which were pretty good..or at least i thought so when i saw them when i was 11. oh well...and JEEZ!! why hasnt parker lewis star corin nemic been in anything?? mikey was in "just one of the guys" one of my favorite 80's movies. ms. musso hasnt been in anything i've seen either. BUT...KUBIAC..the big guy...he was on ER...i was happy he found work. he was the best. i think its really sad how little quality syndication television there is left. but even if there was i probly wouldnt have time to watch it anyway. oh well. thats all. byebye love andrew
[MMouse]: ten pounds of shit in a five pound bag
okay from all the things ive read on here in a while i have a lot o feel i should comment on..the first that comes to mind is that it was weird someone mentioned the real world and the silver jews in the same post...cause on the real world road rules casting special they played a pavement song on it. i swear. and a while ago (one or two seasons ago) they played a mineral song. wacky eh? okay and the next thing (and much more importantly) my best friend works at this fun little toy shop in portsmouth new hampshire called MACRO POLO and they have great stuff but way over priced...like wonder woman action figures and pencils with farah fawcett-charlies angels doll heads on them. as well as normal toys and candy. anyway..they have FAT ALBERT coloring books there!! yeah they are great..and packed full of great life lessons..but anyway..they sell them for like $5 each..which i know..i would definitely shell that out for themBUTTT..this crappy surplus store in sanford maine has the same ones for 2 FOR A DOLLAR!! i am happy to say that they dont have any anymore..thats right..i bought all 24 of them. people should contact me for trades and stuff. im serious its worth it. so anyway...talking about old cartoons is boring..what about old sitcoms?? anyone remember SHE'S THE SHERIFF with suzanne somers? nobody except myself remembers it. theres wayy too much tv i have forgotten..probly forever...i wish i had tv land...is it anygood? does it have much from the 80's? i cant wait till nick at night starts showing 80's shit...like i know they will start playing the facts of life soon...im so psyched for that. so yeh i think it would be good to bring back the book recommendationsthe last good books i read were life after got by douglas coupland, THE VIRGIN SUICIDES...shit yeah...the unberable lightness of being, and now im almost done with the abortion, a historical romance 1966 by richard brautigan. so good. oh yeah and im reading a book about massaging. interesting. oh yeah and i also read one of noam chomsky's linguistics books. not too facinating or compelling but its still really interesting stuff. okay thats all. goodbye love andrew
[MMouse]: space ghost
ive never seen the whole episode of space ghost with pavement..but i swear to you that part of their performance was on TALK SOUP once...it was pretty great...i was surprised it was on there. i never watched space ghoast regularly.my cable never carried it..but its funny cause when i got it i lost talk soup...anyway..i did see the episodes with moby, and with beck..those were great too. love andrew
[MMouse]: re: andy's balls for secretary of d-fenz
so leigh, at my worst state of hernia-ness my testicles got to a hair over 3 inches long by a little under 2 inches wide. it hurt really bad..like all tender and swelly-like. lots of throbbing too. but its not like it was enough to get in the way of my everyday activity. i went to school during it all. but i did get excused from gym class. the bastards announced it to the whole class. so anyway, i dont know how we know if our balls are ther right size, show them to as many people as you can and listen for their reactions. "oh my god those are huge" if not that or "wow those sure are small" you pretty much know that they are normal. me and my friends have found methods of very quickly unzipping and whipping ours out hiding our penises so as not to be too rude in a split second. yep facinating. leigh have you ever judged a ball contest? like as far as bigness or just overall quality? i judged one (an a penis contest too) at the michigan fest...but they were all crusty punks so it wasnt as cool as it should have been. oh well. oh yeah and fuck dr. laura. at the bookstore i work at we use old unsold dr. laura daily rip off page calenders. and my co workers (idiot berkinstock ponytail people) always tape them up behind the counter for daily inspiration. cripes. oh well bye love and everyone on this list ripping off leighs sign-off style, andrew
[MMouse]: nomar for prez (leigh for vice prez)
so yeah...hell of a night for this list..i come home with all these digests...and almost every post is either about boston or trashing amy for being insane. very nice. so yeah i suck and im missing both the at the drive in show in boston and the mo mo show in providnce..but hey sue me im not even from boston.but ill definitely be at the weezer show..we definitely need some kind of lister meet up thing for that.its at axis right? who ever mentioned or asked about modest mouse playing in maine got me thinking. i so wish they would play here..they could easily sell out a small venue here. i swear. they might enjoy it hereor just the fact that theres so much un developed land here. oh well. oh and leigh, as far as big nuts go, im sporting quite average nuts but i had a hernia once and they grew to inhuman proportions...you'd be in teste heaven. we should hook up and ill give myself another hernia just for you, good deal eh? love and teste drainage, andrew
[MMouse]: lets stop talking about led zepplin and all this..lets talk about MIX TAPES!
hey i was thinking today about how ive lost track of all my mix tape friends from the past few years and i want more...anyone interested should email me. i miss it real bad. love andrew
[MMouse]: album leaf in boston
hey is anyone going to sere the album leaf at the middle east tomarrow? i will be there. has anyone seen them yet? ae they worth it? andrew
[MMouse]: magnolia
yeah im a tard mullet..but i just saw magnolia last night (seriously it didnt come to any theaters in this area until now..at the cheapo $1.50 theater) and yeah i love it blah blah blah..i remember a while ago a lot of talk about it on here...like all the odd references to the whole frogs raining down exodus 8:2 passege in the bible...id like to hear comments and maybe some things i would have missed (i didnt pay too much attention to possible clues like the clocks pointing to 8 and 2 and all, i was just soaking the movie in you know) but anyway yeah it was great..so much more sinscere than all the other high quality movies of the past year or two...like, fight club, american beauty...all those...altho they were all good movies..they still had this sleazy hollywood-ness to them underneath...that came out in the way that these movies were, like most hollywood movies..very geared towards white males...has anyone else noticed this? like..its hard to explain..but these movies are very good..but still made with the intention of appealing to the male brain. but anyway, i saw none of this going on in magnolia..it was just great. love andrew
[MMouse]: bright eyes c.d. interview thing
okay see i "get" the interview and i still hate it...i think fevers and mirrors is an amazing album...its breathtaking..but that damned interview does not belong...maybe it would have fit in better on letting off the happiness considering that thats more of a collection of songs..not a really conceptual peice of work like f&mor even on every day and every night it would have been better fitting. i still would not have liked it but it wouldnt have effected the overall quality of the c.d. like it did on fevers and mirrors. love andrew
[MMouse]: sunnyday in boston
> hye mer..yeah i was in the back near the bar..i was on the first step to the left of >the bar facing the stage. i wa short with black hair and a navy blue shirt that said >"club sandwhiches not seals" (retarded i know) black shorts and a dickies bag. i was >at BIG BURRITO afterwards too. i wouldnt remember me either! > haha i dont remember where i stole that one from. anyway yeah i wanted to flick that >big guys cigarette out of his mouth. it was still good tho..made such a difference to >have the show >almost< smoke free. someday when i rule the world blah blah blah loveandrew > re: > Hey Andrew, were you standing in the back by the bar? I saw some big dude > smoking back there. > > .mer.
[MMouse]: sunny day in boston
did anyone go see sunny day last night in boston. what did you think of it? i have to say it wasnt worth the $15i mean...keanu reeves' shitty assed band DOGSTARR is playing that same venue (AXIS) tomarrow for only $12...but anyway..sunny day are pretty boring now and im not much of a fan of the new c.d. and they only played like..3 songs i think from how it feels...but they did do 2 songs from the pink c.dand all they played from diary was circles...if i were them...i would randomly play like..the song "seven" totally without warning in the middle of a bunch of crappoy songs from the new c.d...and cause a complete riot. somebody in the crowd between songs yelled out "you guys are fucking geniuses" i hope he was kidding cause it was funny. also jeremy looks like he used to...hes all skinny again...maybe that means he'll go into another fit and go crazy christian again and that will cause them to write good, brooding music again...cause now it seems as tho all he has to be brooding about is his receeding hairline (<===cheap shot) oh yeah NO KNIFE opened (someone asked earlier before the show who was...so fat lot of good that did) oh yeah and another thing...there were signs everywhere saying (please no smoking at performers request) i was so happy about that...i just wish the modest mouse show in boston could have been a no smoking affair (yeah right) cause that was hell...anyway it made such a big difference having there be no smoke (except this middle aged seriously fucking obese guy next to me who smelled like pure ass who smoked a couple times. oh well fuck him. thats all. love and my new kittens being fucking adorable, andrew
[MMouse]: good books
okay the last book i read was "DANCING QUEEN" by lisa carver. it was entertaining..but i think the more recent writings ive read by her are much better than whats in this book..but still i highly reccomend this. its all essays about her "white trash" upbringings..but she never writes in a mean way..like shes making fun of them..she handles it very well. and theres a lot of interesting stuff about being an awkward teenage girl..and reading too many romance novels as a kid..which i think was funny cause all my female friends are fucked up from reading too many V.C. ANDREW'S books as kids. also good that ive read recently are "miss wyoming" by douglas coupland, "the captain is out to lunh and the sailors have taken voer the ship" by charles bukowski (soo good..a great representation of where bukowski was coming from...its all jounal entries of the last like...two years of his life.) , also the newly released thing by richard braughtigan of old writings..some of his first. (as an interesting conversation peice..think of this...charles bukowski vs. richard braughtiganbraughtigan is more hippy-ish...writing more "happy" poems..and relies on simplicity..and seems to be all about the little things and the beauty of them...but the guy killed himself...while bukowski was an obnoxious guy who hated people and most facetts of existance..but the guy lived to be so old and obviously was stronger willed and seemed to have a better understanding of a beauty of the BIG PICTURE...its just hidden in there more. yeah im an idiot thanks.) and also ANGERY YOUNG MEN-a collection of old beat writing. its a rad really old book...i found it in my attic. im in love with it love andrew
[MMouse]: hit it or quit it
hey check out the latest issue of hit it or quit it..its got an email from issac (unless its a joke..altho maybe it is..its pretty funny) to jessica hooper..it talks about him being i chicago to mix the new album or something.and he goes on to tell about how one of the songs is about his first sexual experience and he expanded upon it (!) he said he was wearing those "aqua-shoes" while he did it. i got a big kick out of it. also..is there any news on that c.d. k records was going to put out of older material? i was all excited about that. love andrew
[MMouse]: i pretended to faint once at the gap. it was funny.
you know what i hate? when i go to a thrift shop..and see gap clothing (even if its hideous reject gap cloths...bad shit) and still..since its got the word gap on the tag they hike up the price sometimes like..$10 more than everything else. i dont know...its okay if they depend on hiking up the prices on those things to get by you know? but it just doesnt seem right. love andrew
[MMouse]: COURTNEY LOVE
you know..im not a real courtney love fan but i have to admit..she surprises me a great deal sometimes...i used to be a big hole fan when miss world came out..so when they played at the university of new hampshire i went...and i was soo impressed..seriously. i swear there were only about 400-500 kids there..and it was in a big space...meant for multiple thousands...but still...they put a lot into their set. i figured that since A) its in new hampshire, B) there's a lot less than half as many people as there should be, and C) they are a big band..and most big bands have to give lack luster performances. also since courtney has an abrasive voice i figured she would try and preserve it since it was a crappy gig anyway..but she screamed her head off..for real..they played for about 2 hours and she was very intense, and was even in good spirits, and talked to people in the audience and everything. anyway..i thought that most of what she said was pretty on the ball in that speech..and i dont know if she can pull off whatever it is she plans to do, or if she even gets around to attempt it..but i have hope in her i guess. unless shes only doing this cause she knows she can have acting as a fall-back. who knows. love andrew. P.S. i cant beleive its even being discussed...but i think its obvious to anyone that terms like gay shouldnt be used in a negative way...i dont give a shit if you dont mean any harm to homosexuals..but it just doesnt make sense to use the term negatively at all. in any context
[MMouse]: COURTNEY LOVE

[MMouse]: small brown bike
Small brown bike are pretty good..yeah they do sound a lot like HWM...less so with their newer stuff..but their newer stuff is a lot better than their old stuff...i think. ohw ell they put on a good show..i saw them at the michigan fest...and in mass somewhere. love andrew
[MMouse]: my top 5
in very particular order: 5. LIVES 4.WAYDOWN 3.tie between the last 3 songs on lonesome crowded west 2.TRAILER TRASH 1.tie between the last 5 songs on long drive okay thats dumb oh well. anyway i got the night on the sun 12 inch the other day..its pretty good..kind of weird..like not quite what i expected...I CAME AS A RAT really doesnt fit on it. the three other songs are quieter pretty songs (prettier than anything on moon and antarctica) "you're the good things" is one of the most un typical mouse songs yet. oh yeah and the lyrics arent very good to any of the songs other than "i came as a rat" i dont know why but they bugged me i guess. they are awkward in some way..dont flow very well. love andrew
[MMouse]: antarctica question
hey jesse...antarctica has memebers of CHRISTIE FRONT DRIVE..who are soo awesome...but they sound like C.F.D. in that they have the same good flow and melody..but the songs are a lot more atmospheric and spacy with keyboards..and the songs are longer..a little more in depth..but not as good as C.F.D. i think..they are still pretty damned good. a little dull to see live tho. oh well. love andrew yeah will someone tell me about antartica?? what kind of music are they? jesse im so sick today guys
[MMouse]: singing cures everything
id like to think that singing/musical expression makes everything better...like if you are singing you wont stutter...but im sure theres some explanation like with the air flow..but look at TOM HARRELL..hes a trumpet player...and his schizophrenic...and when he plays hes totally normal and has no problem with it...and his schizophrenia supposedly makes him able to play better...or purer they say. oh well. on a not very related note...i think davey from promise ring would make a better lisping side kick than travis.
[MMouse]: boston show
so the boston show was good...like..not that it could have been bad...you know..the adrenaline rush of seeing the closest thing i have to a favorite band would make up for any problems with the show...like for example that the middle east is probly my least favorite venue ive ever been to. i knew this going in. someone who mentioned sucky clubs with low ceilings so the smoke has no where to go..the middle east is a great example of this. oh well i wont belly ache about the club...the mouse did good..played a lot of songs...seemed to be in fairly good spirits..issac seemed happy...a little out of it at times but at other times almost giddy. it was cute..i didnt expect it but he had sort of an ANTHONY MICHEAL hall in the breakfast club quality. i think its just his smile. watch the movie and you'll agree with me i swear. jeremiah was fun to watch...he made doin the cockroach one of the best songs they played. im sorry to russ..i did not say hi to you..but i did see the pacman shirt...it was just too packed in there to get to you to say hi and i was not in the right mood to talk to anybody..hahaha it was a little hot in there and i was gonna pass out...i didnt want to puke on you. hahhaha. oh well. thats all. love andrew
[MMouse]: 15 year old
well i agree totally that we can be way too dissmissive of teenage opinions..im thinking especially by older teenagers/youmng adults...the magical line you cross at about 18 when anyone younger than you is a complete moron even tho you were a bigger moron then they were...but in this particular situation isnt (shouldnt?) be about amy being young..shes just wrong. i will admit..amy's posts always seem to have more intelligence than you would expect from the average 15 year old but im totally siding with leigh...bottom line should be: dont put chemicals in your body when you are or could possibly be pregnant. i, in general am against putting controlled substances in your body..and i try to stay away from chemicals in other forms like preservatives in food and such..and if i was pregnant i would make for absolute sure not to do anything that could possibly harm the baby. kids are screwed up enough as it is. oh well there was no point to this sorry. love andrew "Amy has a point. Most people wouldn't seriously consider the opinion of a 15 year old, regardless of how lucid their understanding may be. It's actually kind of scary how dismissive of children this society is. You see it in public schools, in so called "educational" material, or even in the way advertisers go after the child market. I'd be more afraid of the affects of your society on my child than shooting cocaine directly into my unborn fetus' head. "
[MMouse]: boston show...
okay so ill be at the boston show..everybody should say hi to me..ill give you a bill and ted's excellent adventure card if you do! okay..ill be the short kid with black hair making a fool out of himself with a crimson curse shirt with a skull on it and shorts on probly. okay thats all..im hoping so much that the show is good..ive heard such mixed things about the mouse live..but all the things said about shows on this tour seem pretty posi. love andrew ps.club sandwhiches not seals
[MMouse]: color me bedazzled
fuck nader..i want LEIGH for president. seriously tho..leigh offers the absolute best insight of anyone on this list. andrew ps.the word CLITASAURUS is forever etched in my brain well smartypants... amazing that a 15 year old knows so much about this and everything else for that matter... i don't drink in the first place, so i know for sure that my kid isn't going to be suffering from any alcohol related defects, or f.a.s. or anything like that... whatever, my hair is of even legnth all the way around... not longer in the back... you don't show for a long time into your pregnancy, at least a few months... and i think that if i was knocked up, i think i'd suspect something was up (ie no bleeding when there should be... sorry boys, serious style). and if you get pregnant right around lets say day 14, you should start to figure something might be wrong about 2 to 3 weeks after that... fuck, if you are having unprotected sex around your most fertile time, you should maybe suspect that you might be acquiring a bun in the oven. right? have the planned parenthood people come and talked to your class yet? and i never said that drinking was going to make someone's prized fetus turn into a grapefruit, but it definately doesn't help the kids chances. and forgive me for being so dense, because i know that a half a high school education and a computer makes one a fucking genius, but what does this mean: a baby coming out = NOT YOU! thanks sweetness... kiss kiss love and mishaped heads,
[MMouse]: birthdefects and boston
my mom smoked...AND had rhumetoid arthritis so she was on some weird medications..but nothing really seemed to effect me except that asprin can cause CLEFT PALLETS (sp?) and yellow teeth..i as fortunate not to have a c.p. but my teeth have always been tinted yellow..weird eh? also...im totally psyched for the boston show..its only 6 days away. its not soon enough to know what shirt ill be wearing...but i wanna know of peopel from this list who will be there. oh well thats all. love andrew
[MMouse]: pop and more
anyone ever had STEWARTS CHERRIES N CREAM COLA? its excellent...on my way back from michigan last month while driving through new york and vermont we saw a lot of STEWARTS resteraunts..i wanted to check them out cause im such an avid fan of the soda. i dont know its proby just an east coast thing. oh well. so on an actually modest mouse related subject...in that interview issac implied that paper thin walls wouldnt be a single or the first single or whatever...what will be do you think? or will there be and how far do you think itll go? video and all? ill be interested in seeing what happens cause paper thin walls seems like the most accessable song on the new c.d. love andrew
[MMouse]: tourmates
yeah im pretty sure they are touring with califone..at least they are playing with them a lot...including at the boston show with les savy fav..which i think is the only show they are playing together. i dont know anything about califone other than that they did the slayer cover with modest mouse on the i love metal comp...and ive heard some people mention califone before but only negative things actually. ill be interested to see them/him/whatever. love andrew
[MMouse]: that "promo" copy of the new c.d. on EBAY
that c.d. they have on there is the same thing i have..its NOT and official promo copy..its a burned c.d. and the cover is not official its a crappy thin piece of computer paper with a badly printed logo and some messy green picture on it. forget about it.
[MMouse]: palatka styled shirts
yeah ive seent he palatka ones they were awesome..but PIEBALD also did it...i had a sweet blue shirt that said "aged to perfection" on the front with "piebald" on the back with pixie dust. piebald is an excellent band. check them out. oh yeah and to who ever it was who mentioned END OF CENTURY PARTY they have a discography c.d. coming out on BLOODLINK soon. yee haw. love andrew
[MMouse]: about the new mouse
okay someone asked for a sort of general opinion on the new album...i can say that i enjoy it..and more so now with many repeated listens...but ive decided that the biggest part that bugs me about it is that it seems like an ISSAC BROCK solo album...the drums are s low in the mix (for all i know the copy thats going around is just a rough mix and the final product will be better) and they seem so much more reserved than before..not at all the amazing work that jeremiah has been known for...and the bass is barely audible for the most part. the vocals and guitars are turned up into the fore-front and s mutli-tracked. altho...someone pointed out that there was a lot more atmosphere and weird noises and stuff on it..but i really actually liked that...i liked it a lot. i dont like it better or worse than the old style mouse..but i still like it. i may be going too far off the subject here but i was just reading this book called "beatlesongs" and its a list of all the beatle songs in order of the release..and it says all the info on the song..like who wrote it..andwho wrote what of it..and it also has members of the band and george martin (the producer) talking about the songs as well..but it also has a whole bunch about the recording process of the songs..and it talked about all the added stuff and weird noises and atmosphere..and also the writing process..and i was wondering why more bands cant do things more like that..and i was thinking that modest mouse with their new sound with atmosphere and added unneccesary noise could benefit from say...a really good producer they can bond with and create greatness with like the beatles and george martin. anothing thing tho..is that the beatles were so much more of a collabrative band...like all the members doing a lot of writing and shit in the studio..while the mouse seems more like issac's thing which is unfortunate. he might benefit and really thrive if he were to have an equal partner in the band like john and paul. oh well..im overtired and overthinging this. also i dont want anyone to think im comparing the beatles to modest mouse at all in terms of talent or greatness. oh well. love andrew
[MMouse]: kleenexgirlwonder
i bought ponyoak and no it wasnt a metaphore...i was selling the straight shit..i bought it..sat it down on the floor planning on listening to it in like 2 minutes..and my cat up and comes and pees right on it. my cat pees on lots of stuff mind you (like my best friend's foot last week) i still havent listened to it yet...i sprayed it with pet oder stuff.. oh well. love andrew (sung to the tune of RIDE THE WIND) uhm. which one did you buy? and is this a metaphor? did you let your cat piss on it because you didnt like it? share your feelings with the group. dont edit yourself. ride the wind...never comming back until i TOUCH the midnight su
[MMouse]: jackasses and cat piss
hey sue me..i think that modest mouse is really good music written by jackasses oh yeah..RUSSyou are always talking about kleenexgirlwonderwell just to let you know, i bought it today and my cat pissed on it within 10 minutes. im dead serious re: "17. Favorite beer? the best beer is NO BEER!!! drinking is for jack asses." how can you like modest mouse then? ...i know i'm gonnna get it for this. damon
[MMouse]: the mouse and drinking
well its probly pretty obvious...but the ideals of the artist (as long as its not presented in a confrontational, discriminating way) isnt really relevant most of the time as far as the listenee/reader/whatever is concerned...what i mean is that issac mentioning drinking in his song doesnt matter to me..and its okay if the songs are good...compared to say a straight edge hardcore band writing songs about not drinking..but doing it in a confrontational and discriminating way is bad..even tho they hold the same beliefs on that particular subject. bukowski is an amazing writer..and i can enjoy and appreciate his work...even tho like 90% has to do with drinking..and i havent read all of his work but i dont recall him ever taking a stance on the subject saying that he was right and people who dont drink are wrong ( im sure i wouldnt make such a statement) but this messege has gone on far too long sorry. love andrew PS...anyone out there with an amusing car accident story please share it with me...i had the weirdest experience today getting in an accident with a psychotic woman and i want to share it

Worst live show? i saw a horrible band once called FECES PEICES..i swear..it was dreadful..made me sick to my stomach. my most dissapointing show ever would have to be seeing KARATE at the michigan fest (i know thats not a show..just part of one) last month...i love them so much but they were just unbearable 10. Favorite sound? any canadian talking...i want my canadian friend to make me a tape just of her talking..like i dont care..just reading from the phone book..whatever...anyway i would fall asleep to it every night. im also quite fond of joints popping and JUDD NELSON whistling in the breakfast club..it just sounds weird..the last notes he whistles sound inhuman 11. least favorite sound? my voice making answering machine messeges. 12. girls posting their pictures and email addresses on the internet bad/good? bad if it leads to stalking...good if it leads to steamy romance...actually online love is pretty bullshit. oh well. 13. [MMouse]: women music and orgasms
um at the risk of souning like a complete dolt...i just was just wondering after reading a post on hear where a female mentioned almost orgasming while watching bright eyes..was this an exaggeration? or is there really a connection..like some kind of intense thing like a cathartic musical performance could really arouse you? see i (like most males im sure) havent the foggiest how women really work..but ive heard girls joke around about things like that...and here are stories about beethoven's music to make women go mad with lust while listening to a performance of his material back in the day. . but whatever. all i know is is that guys have no connection whasoever to something like that. okay i am an idiot..please keep that in mind. love andrew

[MMouse]: modest mouse getting big
hey call me crazy but i have a feeling that modest mouse being on a major will turn out poorly...not that i think they will turn out shitty product, but because i dotn think they will sell alot..and they will be ditched by the label..and that could leave them broke and very frustrated...i its happened before to other bands..but usually only to bands that suck after they sign..like jawbreaker and jawbox...i just dont want them to stop playing if that were the case. i really dont think that the quality of music will change..im just afraid it will all turn out badly. anyone agree? love andrew Am I the only one here who doesn't really care if people burn cds? I'm not talking 60,000 at once, that's just silly, but if someone wants to buy just one a couple months in advance, I don't really think that it's an "engine of destruction" George W. Bush is the engine of destruction If anyone likes Public Enemy, check out amazon's bio on Flavor Flav's new album They say it's not due out until 2010
[MMouse]: new mouse crap
i should ahve known before that i would get a lot of flack from both sides..both the (wow can i get a copy?" and the "you suck you will make the mouse go broke" side..but for one thing...i wasnt thinking i rerget it...i dont know what i was thinking, for another thingi really make no plan to give copies out or to post it online, and for another thing i do plan on buying the album when it comes outAND the big point is...how many of you out there can honestly tell me thatr would wouldnt have bought it if you would have seen it? i mean..this was just too good of an oppertunity...i was excited and i bought it..im sure most of you would buy it when it came out officially too if you already had a shitty burned copy of it...so i dont feel bad for buying it..and i dont feel bad for posting it eitheri was excited and christ..it is something that has to do with the mouse...so i felt the need to post it...that should make sense. i wasnt bragging. yes russ i do have a tendency for bragging..including with the tiger trap c.d. but its different cause im not doing it so people will email me wanting a copy (i could never part with that tt c.d.) im just braggin cause i think its interesting. damn, i would have bragged even more if the autographs were personally to me...not someone i dont even know. thats all i really have to say, which is more than i should have probly...this really is a waste of people's time. im sorry cause it is sort of my fault. oh well. love andrew
[MMouse]: NEW CD AT MICHIGAN FEST!!!
did anyone else on this list go to the michigan fest? i did..and holy shit some kid was selling burned copies of the new MM c.d! i was so psyched to get it. its sooo much different..i dont know if all of you already know this cause you have the japanese epi havent heard that so i dont know how it sounds...but the new one is great..but still so different. theres a lot of acoustic guitars...and the last song is wicked wicked catchy and radio friendlyi havent been able to let it all sink in yet...but im still completely stoked. oh well im done bragging. farewell. love andrew
[MMouse]: MICHIGAN FEST
so who on this list is going? call me crazy but me and 9 othe rkids are traveling there from MAINE...it should be good..even if the fest sucks we will still have this wacky road trip experience you know? id just be interested in if anyone is going. love andrew
[MMouse]: elliot sucks
wow, sorry to get defensive here..and to make such a statement...but elliot really does suck...not only am i not a hige fan of their music (not bad but certainly overrated) but when i went to go see them i new hampshire they had really shitty attitudes about certain things..like they made fun of new hampshire soo badit was a small place they played at and thge sound system wasnt so great and they were like "sorry for the technical difficulties, but what do you expect from new hampshire?" and they went on to make some pretty innapropriate remarks about how all people from enw hampshire are hicks and complete morons. needless to say they did not get the warmest reception after that. oh well. DONT SUPPORT ASSHOLE ROCK! love andrew
[MMouse]: TIGER TRAP
hey i have a copy of the tiger trap c.d. autographed by the whole band...they :all wrote swears and stuff on it and signed it to a guy named ian...i got the :c.d. used...i was amazed when i found it. :love :andrew
[MMouse]: waffles suck
in new england (or at least northern new england) we dont have many waffle houses...just a few IHOPs.but waffles suck...and so do waffle houses cause they arent vegan friendly at all. here we have BICKFORDSi dont know if there are bickfords anywhere else...but we have sooo many herewhenever i go to boston on route 1 in saugus there are two BICKFORDSone on each side of the road. they are very trashy but entertainingly sothey seem to have a requirement that all waitresses there working th elate shift have to be alcholics. oh well. bickfords arent any more vegan friendly...exept for the toast and french fries... oh yeah and RUN LOLA RUN is a wonderful film...i find myself liking almost all german films i see. DAS BOOT is a classic. anywho...i just at the video store a DUBBED version of R.L.R..i want to watch it just to piss myself off..im sure its soo bad dubbed...as all movies are, it probly totally takes away from the power of the movie. prime example: FELLINI'S AMARCORD love andrew
[MMouse]: MAINE
oh my, color me impressed by the nice amount of feedback about maine. nobody really cares THAT much about maine..but almost everyone i know 'from away' has at least some maine storyi really suggest that if you ever get the chance to visit maine on vacoation or anything please do so. russ where in new hampshire are you from? new hampshire is just a second rate maine, but theres no sales tax, woo hoo...thats where i do all my grocery shopping. its true that we dont have maine shows here, except moby played here recently, and TRISTEZA played at some bar her last summer...and also we had MELT BANNANA in saco last summer too. anyway this summer should ahve more shows i hope..me and my friends are trying really damn hard to make things happen..cause its true..there is little reason to come here...bands rarely ever venture much farther north than boston. oh well. oh yeahany one ever heard of CERBERUS SHOAL? they are from maine...and they are failry good to boot. oh well. love, andrew
[MMouse]: EXCITING PLACES
hey, on the subject of exciting places, MAINE is the least exciting place on earth...but the thing is..its still a really great place. its really safe and pleasent here..and there are a lot of rednecks here but they are almost amusing rednecks..not the typical scary bigot types or the scary DELIVERANCE types but just idiotic human beings that leave you alone. im mostly posting this asking if anyone on here has ever had the oppertunity to enjoy the MAINE experience? its the way life should you know.. -andrew
[MMouse]: re: cynics
well in my experience most girls really dont like cynics...most girls i know are too foolish, thinking that there is such a thing as a "perfect match" for them..or that certian people are made for each other or whatever..and they find the fact that i find all of that bullshit..a TOTAL turn off. not that i feel sorry for myself or anything, but girls just reeally dont like me...thats the way its always been. oh well. i think i need to find like..an anthropologist to fall in love with..cause they probly see love and relationships at its rawest and simplest and animalistic...and i think that would be perfect. id be interested i hearing anyone else out there's philosophies on love... bring it on... andrew > quote: "chicks dont do cynical guys" - my uncle >Damn, yr uncle is way wrong.
[MMouse]: re: intrigued
yes well you could say that im fairly athiest, and i dont do any drugs and i dont drink or smoke, and hey guess what im vegan too. i kind of try to stay away from flat out athiest, i more lean towards being agnostic, cause no one really knows shit for definite, but i say that logically it seems most likly that the entire universe, and life as we know it are all the results of chemicals reacting from each other and shit like that. and all of our emotions are chemicals in our brains mixing, and imbalancing. sort of bleak sounding but hey it makes me appreciate everythinhg a little more. oh well. love andrew quote: "chicks dont do cynical guys" - my uncle
[MMouse]: ARIZONA DREAM
dear god has anyone seen this movie before?? i saw it like 3-4 years ago and it left some what of an impression..so a few years later i see BUFFALO 66 and im amazed by vincent galloso it takes a week or two but i remember that he was also in ARIZONA DREAM...and i thus starts my search for this movie...and goddamn...i cant find it to save my life...UNTIL today..i TOTALLY RANDOMLY wlak into a video store i had never been in before and i found itso i just got done watching it..and god..it all came back to me. this movie has a lot of bullshit in it..a lot of pointless crap...but on an overall level its a terrific movie...with some great lessons and a good cast (johnny depp, vincent gallo, JERRY LEWIS, faye dunaway and lili taylor) and its got some great camera work. so yeah..if you are a johnny depp fan (who the fuck isnt?) or if you liked buffalo 66 watch it for vincent gallo...also search out THE FUNERAL and PALOOKAVILLE...he was also in truth or consequence NM, and he house of the spririts i think. much love, andrew
[MMouse]: half japanese
hey...my copy of the half japanese greatest hits collection is just a promotional tape of it that i got at a record flea market...and there is no track listing...i was wondering if someone could list it all for me..it know its kind of a lengthy task...but i would really appreciate it andrew
[MMouse]: the BEST bad movie
okay with the talk of bad movies i simply must share this woith you...lasy christmas a friend of mine gave me a movie he bought at a pawn shop. it was called 'ROCK AND ROLL NIGHTMARE'...its about a heavy metal band that goes into seclusion at a farm house in canada (the whole thing is like one long plug for canada - "are you kidding? toronto is the place to be! the music scene, the art scene, where better is there a place to rock out") anyway..the farm house is obviously inhabited by satan (the worst satan ive ever seen) and the singer of the bad turns out to not be a rock singer but actually some kind of angel who went there just as a hoax to beat satan. oh yeah be beats satan by choking him till satan gives in a fades away. if you ever find this movie get it i swear its the best movie ever. the best line is when the guitarist is talking to his wife and he says "baby sometimes my boner cant resist you". oh yeah another good movie is a porno (and im no usual porn fan at all..but this is s funny) its called "driller" its a parady of THRILLER by micheal jackson. find that one too. you wont be dissapointed. andrew
[MMouse]: drugs drugs drugs
i agree that its dumb to use illegal substances (not like prozac or anything like that but the hard stuff) to control your emotions, because there are plenty of people out there (but there seem to be less and less as time goes on) who can live life as they are supposed to-not fucked up and numbed from reality. and the whole artist using drugs debate is a good one...but i think that all those artist you people have listed who abused drugs..dont you think they would be just as creative and talented (if not moreso) if they were clear minded? like they had the talent to do what they did anyway..all the drugs did was make it last shorter cause they kill themselves. i wanna know if any of you people on this list are like me and dont feel the need to do any drugs..including alcohol drugs and cigarettes.dont get me started on cigarettesthose make even less sense than any of the other drugs you could do. and they are NOT punk rock no matter what anyone says. love andrew.
[MMouse]: PIEBALD
okay no piebald doesnt sound anything like hardcore...they used to have a kind of a screamy sound but they are totally beyond that..and now they a straight up rock/popbut they are very good..the newer c.d. isnt as good as the one before itthat was a pop masterpeice in my opinion. also...they are wonderful to see live...they are soo entertaining and friendly. andrew
[MMouse]: sleater kinny voice
heres the weird thing...i agree that sleater kinney is really annoying most of the time...especially the voice..BUT...i loved heavens to betsey...and her voice was sooo much worse then...but i guess it was just more fitting cause the music was angrier and shriller as well ya know? anyone agree? love andrew
[MMouse]: modest mouse covers slayer?
hey am i out of the loop about this or what? but i just saw a compilation at the store of cool bands covering heavy metal songs..like the get up kids do a motley crue song and reggie and the full effect are on it too..anyway the last songs says its modest mouse featuring some other guy and they do south of heavenwell anyway i didnt have any money so i couldnt buy it but i hope to soon. has anyone else heard it? andrew
[MMouse]: christianity, indie rock, and the disney channel
hey isnt damien jurado christian? well cause hears the thing..i cant stand fucking stand him..his music sucks basically just another will oldham rip off...but you see...last nihgt i was watching something on the dinsey channel for like 5 minutes (dont ask) and one of the teenage characters had a fucking damien jurado poster on his wall...i swear to god...now dont you think thats lame? like maybe the producer put it there cause he was familiar with damien's music...probly just because hes christian or something you know? i just found that to be very odd..i mean its the disney channel for godssake...you wouldnt see a disney movie with a will oldham poster on the wall..or any other indie rock musical outfit for that matter. oh well this is going no where..i just thought it was funny. andrew
[MMouse]: bukowski
what about ham on rye? come on guys...thats gotta be up there. henry chinaski would have kicked holden caufield's ass. andrew
[MMouse]: typical indie/emo looks
who ever mentioned the emo-hardcore connection was right on. i find that 95% of the time emo kids are just like..reformed hardcore kids. like they were hadcore kids..then they transform in time to emo kids..and thats like..almost indie...but they are tainted by the hardcore influence they had before so they cant go full fledged indie..so they just stay emo. but it doesnt really matter..i find both emo and indie enthusiests to be obnoxious. some of the most snobby and fake people out there. its much better when people dont label themselves as one thing or another...and its especially lame when people say that, that they dont want to label themselves, but they say it in a fake way to almost label themselves. anyway..i dont know what i am classified as..but i guess it would be just CHEAP. i wear cheap clothes. that is all andrew
[MMouse]: more name songs
a bunch of name songs just popped in my head...there is a song on the new saves the day c.d. called "holly hox, forget me nots" and the smiths had "william it was really nothing" and "sheila takes a bow", lifetime had "hey catrine", ben folds five had a lot like "emaline" "tom and mary" and "julianne" and the magnetic fields had "josephine" and "jeremy" thats all i can think of for now..except the classics like jenny-867-5309...oh yeah and im glad noone has mentioned the get up kids "oh amy dont hate me" song. that has to be the most annoying song ever written. andrew
[MMouse]: promise ring/burning airlines at the middle east
hey i heard a bunch of people mention going to the show tonight..ill be there...although i dont expect anyone to talk to me...i am commuting down there from maine so it would be cool if someone aknowledged me...ill be the short kid with the red hot water music shirt. anyway it should be a good show anyway..ill be interested in hearing everyone's thoughts on it after. love andrew
