[MMouse]: hero thoughts
recently on the list-serve someone asked for thoughts on 764-hero. here's some of my thoughts... i like the new album good enough, but i was conditioned for it by the fact that i saw the band three times in seattle before the album hit the stores. specifically... 1. EMP (mural ampitheater) 2. open for Mark Lanegan (showbox) 3. headline Up Records Showcase (Sitnspin) and live they are quite good. so, i think the songs are better live than on the record. seeing "blue light" or "weekends of sound" is quite satisfying. so i encourage those kids out there from seattle to see 764-hero play at the sitnspin on august 19th and decide for yourselves. in concert, they rock and roll, whereas on the album, it's hard to tell if they are really rocking or not. and the mixdown of the album seems a little weird to me too... i think the biggest problem with the album is the fact that john goes for distorted vocals a little too much. it reminds me of grunge a little too much. i agree with some reviews that compare them to nirvana. i think they are justified in saying that. but 6 out of the 10 songs on the new album are strong. and as people, i really like 764-hero. john was bartending the other night at the cha cha lounge and was a real nice guy. and james is real nice as well, i had a chance to chat with him at EMP. so i'd say if you like the mouse, it wouldn't be a bad idea to check out 764-hero. but instead of the new album, i'd say check out "get here and stay." i still believe that is their best work to date. just an opinion though... i am, ryan

I don't know why I didn't include the BTS show info, so here it is for your convenience: Thursday August 24 BUILT TO SPILL Guitarist/songwriter/vocalist Doug Martsch is the force behind this band that has been issuing albums at an annual clip since 1993. The now solid line-up includes ex-Spinanes drummer Scott Plouf and bassist Brett Nelson. Hypnotic guitar, reedy vocals, and underscores of moody instruments are BTS's signature sound. [MMouse]: Thematic Interpretations FROM 02.26.00
On 2.26.00, the Mouse played the Icehouse in Victoria B.C. It's a little stripclub attached to a hotel, apparently, and has no listing in the phone book. The 8th tune they played was a little jam where Isaac made up a bunch of words and he speaks of lots of things that happened last year. It's really hard to understand, but I transcibed it the best I could. So here it is: it was like this in 1999 it was like this in 1874 it was like this when you were a child it was like this when I was a whore well they were amassing troops on the back of the isles they were sayin th' things they were all in denile they were talkin about their own front lip it smelled like, it smelled like shit an' they they were eatin' popcorn out of a dish they were sayin' I wish, I wish, I wish I was buried in a 1999 I was left and I left my own self behind still livin' but you know I'm not denying said well I said and I said this in 1918 things were better when I was nothin but a sweater now I'm born again as another man I'm livin on this in this foreign land I used to be angora, angora fleece livin' on salad eatin' peas and noone knew, and noone cared and you didn't know whether you want.. not like you were thinkin then and as your resurrection read the cinnamon and I was not to be confused and then in 1882 they say. things are going wrong from the beginning and noone was losing and noone was winning they just fuck each other up then in 1999 I was in a park in Chicago oh that was like you know he was sayin' when I'm not talkin' about no bullshit I went to talk to the Italian boys that hung out there and they said that they would rather see me dead or diss my cap they broke my jaw and I was left to die I walked away and I called my mom and said Hell ya, it sucked ya, I loved it, break my jaw now you ring on, you ring on, ya got your ring on, you were just figurin' it out one thing you remembered you were never even once . you were, when sleepin' you were sleepin' when they sayin' when there was a forn again mistakes were made and I ended up in Florida things were not right I didn't care about what to do and what you'd become either way you end up or n'dumb that's alright with me now thats alright with me now what do want to me well the troops they were amassing on the porch They wanted to be on the port In the court of the gulf gulf center the things were better and noones really comin' here and talkin' loud and you're talking proud and you're trunkin now aw shit you said that what you meant then what you did then was you want to have sex and you did not do you could not do you could not pull it off, but you tried to and you said well I don't need I don't need to wear myself a bikini today which brings me to the embarrasment I was sittin' on a rat at park setiment and they said hell ya, oh hell ya you look naked as shit but you were drunk you didn't care and what was you needed Thats it. Keep in mind that since it's usually hard to understand Isaac, I had to guess on a few things. Like Park Setiment could have been sentiment. Dots show places where the lyrics were unrecognizable. I listened to another show where Isaac got really serious and said that he had something he wanted to say. Most people were just talking instead of listening and he said "Fuck it, you don't give a shit anyway" "J to the R" [EMAIL PROTECTED] 06/14/00 11:12AM What the hell is "an extropian?" But you pose a good question/query Robbins, Mark... I've listened to the new album a few times, and is it just me reading into it, or are there a lot of subtle references to the "rape allegations"... I'd love to hear people's thematic interpretations... like, is 3rd planet about abortion? so far, that's my initial theory... "we used to be 3 and not just two" And does anyone else notice the eerie similarity between die die my darling and what people are made of? That rocked. Issac has been doing a lot of thinking..I wonder if he knows what an extropian is? Mark the steel of freedom does stain and rage makes the light die faster The added production on The Moon And Antarctica seems, more than anything else, to be just that: added. It's not integral to the songs. It only seems to be there for its own sake. "Listen! Is that a banjo or a harpsichord? Genius!" we are supposed to say. Re: [MMouse]: ann arbor show
I do like small venues because it is easier to get close to the band, but the low ceiling didn't allow the smoke to rise, so it was always hanging around. I'm a non-smoker and cigarette smoke makes my eyes hurt. That is all I meant about the small venue. I guess I wasn't really clear. And about the stage, I couldn't see the band because it was so low. I don't like really high stages, either, but I would like to see the band. I was going to move, but I don't like standing in front of people because I'm 6'2 and most people are shorter than I am. I just wish the stage was higher because I often had to look at the mirror on the side wall to watch Jeremiah play drums. I just wasn't sure if Isaac would sing like he normally does. He has a very distinctive voice, and I like his voice, but I thought it might be worn out from touring and stuff. I wasn't sure if his voice was going to have its high-pitched shrieking sound. That's all I meant by it. They did do some improvisation or whatever, and I liked it. I'm glad his voice sounded good. The Blind Pig sucked as a concert venue. It was very small, the stage was only one or two feet higher than the floor, and it was full of smoke. Plus my ticket said that the show was supposed to start at 9:30 p.m., but it didn't actually start until about 11:00 p.m. And the opening band, Califone, really sucked. They were the most boring band I have ever heard. I don't know about anyone else but in my book the smaller the venue the better. I really have no desire to see a band on a ten foot high stage. Yeah, your right about the time, it could have started a little earlier (i had a 5 hour drive ahead of me after the show) but it was a small price to pay for a great show. But Modest Mouse put on a decent show. They sounded really good. I didn't know if Isaac would be able to consistently sound like he does on the albums, but he pulled it off. Their performance was pretty boring to watch, though. For the most part, they just stood there and played. Isaac moved around a little bit. Again, I disagree. If I wanted to hear the CD, I'd play it on my stereo. The more variation and improvisation on a song the better. They sounded amazing to me they were anything but boring to watch. Isaac wasn't as interactive with the audience as the other times I've seen him but they played a shit load of songs which more than compensated for the lack of jokes. Jesus Christ, can Jeremiah bang the shit out of a drum kit Eric is one helluva bass player. Overall a great show. Well that's my two cents worth. blah blah blah

I didn't recognize Jeremiah Green or Eric Judy. Jeremiah has longer hair than what I've seen in pictures and Eric has some facial hair. They all walked past me at one point, before the concert began, but I only recognized Isaac. There was also another guitar player, but I don't know who he is. Does anyone know? [MMouse]: mm in SF
I live in Santa Cruz. I want to go to one or a couple of the shows in SF next month. I don't even remember when they are, but that is a minor detail. Is anyone on this list going to possibly going from Santa Cruz to SF that would be interested in bringing me along? ryan
[MMouse]: let's call the whole thing off (part 2)
I didn't want to stay for the Bloodhound Gang, but a friend wanted to. They were dorks. Someone threw a 311 T-shirt on stage, and their bassist pulled down his pants and wiped his butt with it . . . and then flung it back into the crowd. Then they asked someone to volunteer to drink an entire case of Dr. Pepper (24 cans) for $100. They pulled some kid up on stage and he started to drink it. The lead singer told the bass player, who is really muscular, to swing hand over hand on a bar that circled the place. Clutch Cargo's used to be a church and is about the size of a basketball court. He got about three-quarters of the way around and then some guy in the crowd grabbed him and pulled him down . . . so he crowd-surfed back to the stage. During one of the songs, they asked for hot girls to come up on stage. About ten of them did, and about four of them took off their shirts . . . but the club didn't want any nipples to be shown because it was an all-ages show, so a stage hand had to put tape over them. One of the girls stripped down to her G-string and the tape over her nipples and started to make out with one of the other girls. Most of the crowd was there for the Bloodhound Gang, so most people enjoyed it except for me. I'm also kind of confused about all the nakedness. Being a straight male, I was sort of turned on . . . but at the same time, I was disgusted by the womanizing that was involved. Yeah, some of the girls volunteered to get naked, but the guys didn't have to touch them. And the Bloodhound Gang band members and Parry from Nerf Herder encouraged it. So while I was turned on, I was also disgusted. I have mixed feelings. When the concert was done, the kid was still trying to finish the case of Dr. Pepper. One of the rules was that he couldn't vomit or spill any of it. I think he's still there. ~Ryan living in the womb, running out of room
[MMouse]: let's call the whole thing off (part 1)
I went to the Bloodhound Gang/Nerf Herder concert last night at Clutch Cargo's in Pontiac, Michigan. Tickets were only $18.50, and I really like Nerf Herder. I couldn't care less about the Bloodhound Gang. We got there shortly after doors opened and a band called Powderfaith was playing. They were rocking and jumping all over the place, but they reminded me of a band like Staind. Their music sounded like it, and the vocalist always screamed, but he didn't sing like Aaron Lewis does. They were all right, I guess, but I'm not into that type of music a whole lot. The next band was A (which is a horrible name for a band). They were from London. Their bass player was good, and the band was energetic, but I didn't like the music. I couldn't really compare it to anything, but the lead singer sounded like Angus Young and he liked to say the f-word. Then Nerf Herder came on. The first thing Parry said was On the count of three, I want you all to say 'f*** Subway!' It was an entertaining set, but they only played about eight songs. Most of them were from their first album. About the second song, my friend nudged me to look to my left. There was some chubby girl on a guy's shoulders with her tanktop pulled up, flashing everyone. Those were the first breasts I have seen in person, and they were gross. So I looked back at the band. During one of the songs, Parry said and now, it's time to sell our souls to the devil. If you don't want to sell your soul to him, you can leave. Then some weird guy came out with a long goatee and bleached blond hair and grabbed Parry's guitar . . . and proceeded to play part of a Slayer song. I found out later that this was the guitarist for the Bloodhound Gang. A couple minutes later, some girl in a red tanktop was being passed forward toward the stage. She was also flashing everyone while holding a beer in one of her hands. As she was being passed up, lots of guys reached up and grabbed her breasts. That's retarded. Nerf Herder pulled her up on stage and she started dancing with them. At one point, Parry pulled her down on top of him and she straddled him and started riding him. The set ended shortly after that.
[MMouse]: HAAAAAA
Okay, I finally had a good listen of the entire new album. I've heard almost all the songs in various forms, whether it's been live over the last years of touring, or on the japanese ep, or from live recordings, but this was my first listen to the produced new album. And all I'm thinking right now, is that all these people who have said Modest Mouse has sold out and the new album sucks, you are COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!! It is HILARIOUS to hear people saying they "sold out" on this album! I mean, it honestly cracks me up. I can't see how anyone who has been following Modest Mouse and their music couldn't see this as a very natural, expected, and in my opinion, GREAT progression in their course of musical existence. I am extremely excited about this album, I think it's absolutely great, and while of course it is hard to let go of their old sound, and everything they've done in the past, I don't find this album to be dissappointing at all. ryan

Stuff I bought recently:764-HERO: Salt Sinks Sugar FloatsI like it. It reminds me of Modest Mouse, but the vocals aren't quite as harsh. And it's not as energetic and powerful. But it's still good.Nada Surf: Proximity EffectI like this one, too. It's a little more pop-rock than High/Low was. But it's cool, especially Mother's Day and 80 Windows. Elliott Smith: Either/OrIt's good, just like all his albums. He makes me happy. Sometimes he makes me sleepy, too, but that's okay. He's fun to listen to when I'm sad. They Might Be Giants: Factory ShowroomI like John Henry and Flood more, but this one is still pretty good.Superdrag: Regretfully YoursThey talk about cigarettes a lot. It's good. I like it more than Headtrip In Every Key. Sucked Out is much different from most of their music.Built to Spill: Center of the Universe import singleThere are a couple acoustic songs on here, with just Doug. And there's a song, Now and Then, that makes me happy and sad at the same time. I don't know why. It just does. I love that song.Owsley: OwsleyIt sounds kind of like Fountains of Wayne, but a little more electric. It's fun music, though. Not quite as good as FOW, but it's good for a change of pace.Smashing Pumpkins: Siamese DreamI had never heard this CD before. But everyone says it's their best one. I concur.Red Stars Theory: But Sleep Came SlowlyI like it, but it's kind of tiring. I like to listen to it when I try to go to sleep. It's just kind of mellow and...boring.Treepeople: Actual Re-enactmentI bought it because Doug Martsch used to be in the Treepeople. I knew he left before they made this album, but I thought it would still reflect his style. It does, kind of, but I don't really care for it much. It's okay. Where Is My Mind?: Pixies tribute albumI haven't heard of most of the bands on here, but I like it. I don't have any Pixies albums. I basically bought this because I like Velouria, and I knew Superdrag and Nada Surf were on here. [MMouse]: Japanese Tour EP
Modest Mouse did not record those 5 songs with the Japanese Tour EP in mind. At all. What those 5 songs are were demos recorded for Epic last January. Record labels, when deciding whether or not to sign a band, will sometimes give them some money to record a few tracks - this way the AR guy can bring the songs to the executives at a record label and show them kind of the direction a band is currently going. MM recorded the songs in a couple of days with Phil Ek. I think they sound great - just a bit stripped down and a little compressed. They're demos - not final versions. When you hear the versions that make the final album you'll see that they probably have a lot more atmosphere and the like. Obviously the demos were good enough for Epic. My guess is that MM got permission from Epic to make a certain quantity of EPs when they went to Japan last year. When a record is released in Japan it is usually much more expensive than buying an import of the same album - that is why a lot of Japanese albums have bonus tracks and the like. It gives people living in Japan more of an incentive to buy the domestic Japanese version of the album instead of a much cheaper import. Hope this clears up things a little bit. Ryan

[MMouse]: MM in Austin
Hi everyone, I saw two MM shows in Austin last week and they were awesome. The first was at Stubb's BBQ (Inside) for an Internet party. They played: Dramamine Third Planet Doin' The Cockroach Perfect Disguise Polar Opposites Paper Thin Walls Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes Trailer Trash Cowboy Dan All Night Diner A Different City The show rocked. The next night they played in front of 3,000 people. They played - Dramamine Doin' The Cockroach Third Planet Out of Gas (which he dedicated to himself because their van ran out of gas on the way to the show) Truckers Atlas Cowboy Dan (they cut them off mid-song because Sebadoh, Sebaslow, Sebaboring had to go on - whatever - I thought it was rude) This show rocked as well. It's weird but cool seeing 3,000 people rock out to the Mouse. The Ugly Casanova show was okay. He made up a couple of songs on the spot and played Wildpacks of Family Dogs, You're Life, and I Came As A Rat. Pretty short set. All in all it was a cool trip - Beulah, At The Drive-In, and Guided By Voices all played brilliant sets as well.

[MMouse]: New Mouse CD
I thought I'd take a minute to say something about the new disc to anyone who is wondering if they should buy it. Especially since you may already own the 7" material. I thought the same thing. But then went and bought it anyway. Here's why you should get it: 1. Super friggin cheap 2. Supports the Mouse 3. The best artwork I've seen for a disc in a long time 4. I'm not an expert in how the sound was put to the disc. But I can say that the songs sound remastered. They are much cleaner sounding copies with effects that I can't hear in the originals. 5. Super friggin cheap 6. Supports the Mouse Ryan
[MMouse]: This is my conviction
Okay...you guys have probably had this thread many times before...but I'm curious. What is your favorite Modest Mouse album? Re: [MMouse]: what did you guys SAY to this kid?
I tired a sweeter approach. To me, this is an issue for tapers. If people sell a band's shit, they're goning to start saying NO to tapers. I've had tons of people selling shit on eBAY that I recorded myself. Somebody made $60 off a Built to Spill show that I recorded at the Crystal Ballroom. What can you do?? I emailed Waner Bros., Doug and Karena (their address is on builttospill.net), and eBAY. eBAY told me that they wouldn't do anything about it after a "so called" investigation. They will only remove stuff by the request of the parties holding copyrights!! ALL YOU CAN DO IS EDUCATE THESE PEOPLE. When I send nasty emails, I only get back nasty remarks back. Talk to them intelligently and you'll get a better response. Just tell him that you don't want people selling shit from you're favorite band or your favorite band will stop letting people record their shows. This is the true crime. And they should understand. Offering bidders free stuff will help IF you educate them too. I've talked to a few people about effective ways of keeping people from selling recordings. It seems that the only way will be to cut the demand. My 2 cents Russ Sweetser [EMAIL PROTECTED] 02/09/00 08:25PM doods this kid is super pissed at me hahahaha i found him on IRC and totally bitched him out. told him about ethic and about how im trying to STOP shit like this by giving out the boots. he claims he didnt get the files from my site, but i put them on some other sites, so they are the files that i made. h. but i guess some of you emailed him and said some nasty shit? good job. keep it up. i think i am starting to crack his conscience. plus i think ebay will pull the auction. forwarded is his latest reply. sorry if you dont care about this. i hate to clutter the list up with dumb shit. russ

Re: [MMouse]: Dear subscribers, delicious.
I definitely (if I actually had to choose) like Long Drive better.. not that I don't love both albums, but Long Drive just seems to tap in the best to what modest mouse really is to me (well, so does Interstate 8). Maybe it's because I've been listeing since Long Drive so that's the first stuff I got to love MM by.. or maybe it's just because Long Drive and Interstate 8 hold so many memories for me. I also disagree that on Long Drive you listen to the whole thing without skipping. I think it's the jarring moments on the album that make the quieter moments so amazing. ryan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: a few things. happy holidays, whatever they may be, happy non-holidays as well. I just saw the Charlie Brown Christmas special and that kind of cheered me up, but now what. Anyway, since this is a modest mouse list serve, I was just wondering which album you guys prefer, The Lonesome Crowded West or This is a Long Drive For Someon With Nothing To Think About? They both have damn good titles, they both have cool layouts, it's the same people playing and all, etc. I've always liked Lonesome better, because I can listen to it all the entire release without having to skip over any of the songs. Long Drive has always seemed a little bit long winded, until recently, I've really gotten back into listening to it on a regular basis. What do you guys think? Also, I love "The Hot Rock" LP, I think it's just as good as "Call The Doctor." redundantly yours, MIKE
[MMouse]: re: modest mouse losing it?
If you've heard the recording from 11.19.99 in Seattle, then hopefully you're with me in thinking that the mouse has definitely NOT lost it! Their new shit is already fuckin classic and it hasn't even come out yet! If you can listen to mp3's then I implore you to peep out these new songs! Thanks to rosco. http://indyrock.com/mp3/11.19.99/ [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: -my favorite songs on Long Drive are "Dramamime," Custom Concern", Might",Beach Side Property", the Atomizes and Ionizes song, "ohio", and then the last three get played occasionally at bedtime. I love "Jesus Christ" and "Out Of gas" on LCW, I think those songs are just peechy. Also, has anyone had the pleasure of hearing the new album or any songs from it? i saw MM in October and I don't think I heard one new song- just a bit worried here. I mean, let's face it, sometimes bands sign to Majors and something gets lost in the mix. I'm still have faith in the mouse, I'm just politicking. Also, I think the singers voice is very important to any band in the rock-n-roll music genre. One of the reasons I like modest Mouse is because of Isaac's slight accent and that way he has a tendency to slide his words together with a lot of assonance, even if they don't exactly fit. And, finally, I just got the new Get up Kids record and the new Promise Ring and I didn't like either and I pretty much do consider myself a fan of both bands. MIKE

Re: [MMouse]: im not the dark center of the universe likeyouthought
I heard a new song at the UW show on Friday that goes (paraphrased): The universe is shaped just like the earth, If you keep going, you'll come back to where you were. There's an actual theory about this, so the man is up on his astronomy. I can't believe how many things this kid knows. I wish I was that smart. I think Zack may have read an interview that I read because it was linked to the Crystal Night page. Isaac said that he wasn't really religious, but thought that religion made for good stories. And you know he like stories. I remember that it was one of two interviews where the guy in the first interview asks what animal they would be if the could be any they wanted. But wait a minute, this guy is selling the show that I recorded from 6.2.99 It's one thing to find out that a guy is selling boots, and even worse to find out that his auction is up to $40.00 for a show that you recorded. Selling boots is bullshit anyway because it hurts an otherwise harmless hobby. I'll have the info for anyone interested below. This wasn't the only thing. 2nd: This guy's got a Modest Mouse show up for sale that looks a lot like the Dallas show. And, he's concocted artwork with pictures from the Crystal Night web page! I wonder what the odds are that Bruce gave permission to this guy to sell boots with artwork from his page. I've used web pictures to create personal artwork, but I'll never use it to make a buck. Before I bitch way too much about something that the rest of you may not give a shit about, I'll just give you his email address that anyone can look up on eBay. [MMouse]: Portland show
I wasn't the first to post the news, but I went down to the Crystal Ballroom to check out the calendar. They have a schedule set up to look like a calendar. On the 30th, they show Modest Mouse and nobody else. If you ask a person at the box office, they'll tell you that you get get tickets a few weeks before the show. I'm sure they'll have other bands, but nobody is scheduled at this time. For Seattle fans, I haven't seen a show here in 3 years that wasn't paired by a show in Seattle. Good news for you. [MMouse]: good with the bad
Good reminder on the Ballroom web page. It's at: http://www.mcmenamins.com/Crystal/crystal.shtml While there, I noticed this show on their schedule. It might be pleasing to those who like the Mouse. Thursday December 9 BUILT TO SPILL THE DELUSIONS Guitarist/songwriter/vocalist Doug Martsch is the force behind this band that has been issuing albums at an annual clip since 1993. The current line-up includes ex-Spinanes drummer Scott Plouf and bassist Brett Nelson. Hypnotic guitar, reedy vocals, and underscores of moody instruments are BTS's signature sound. Their live shows are phenomenal. This event will most likely sell out. Purchasing tickets in advance is recommended! *Please note early door/show times. Show will end by 10 PM.* Ryan . Hey the modest mouse show in portland has been postponed from the 30th to sometime late in december or january due to problems with travel arrangements for the band. [MMouse]: Built To Spill Info
Just thought some of you might like to know: 1. Built To Spill will be on HBO's Reverb on Tuesday, November 30th at 11:30PM (with Pavement and Calexico). The BTS part was shot at Irving Plaza in NY in May of this year. I was at the show and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. 2. Built To Spill will also be putting out a live album early next year on Warner Bros. Doug's still selecting material so a final tracklisting is not ready yet but at least it's something to look forward to!!
[MMouse]: Another show question
Does anyone happen to have a good copy of the Modest Mouse show from the Crystal Ballroom on 10.19.98? This show has a great set list. I think it was recorded from the audience, but if someone else got a soundboard, even better. Thanks Ryan
Re: [MMouse]: another pointless sonic youth mail
Alright, you got me to bite. I went to see the ultimate lineup in Shapoeg State Park here in Oregon. Built to Spill, Sonic Youth, Sneaker pimps, and I think Elliot Smith (yeah I don't know him so burn me at the stake) all opened for Beck. Some of you know this concert for sure and if you have a recording, please get in touch. To the point: I owned 2 SY albums at the time and was pretty excited to see them. BTS played a short set and didn't jam on anything. A big disappointment compared to the 1st 2 shows that I'd seen. Sonic Youth gets up to save the day and play 1 solid hour of experimental sound JUNK. Nobody played together. Just got up there like I could have and played to myself for an hour. They may have been looking for some random piece of noise to come together but 1 hour just wasn't enough time for the odds of that happening to take place. The first and only time that I saw them and it was crap. OR it was just too indie, cool, underground for my mainstream brain to comprehend. I've sold the 2 albums. There you have it. One take on why SY is a disappointment LIVE. Ryan [EMAIL PROTECTED] 10/13 3:11 PM for anyone whos counting, thats 5 and a half (one of them didnt completely admit it) to conclude my pointless tally, i pose a question how is it that sonic youth sucks, but weezer is apparently great? some people just smoke too much crack

[MMouse]: mm's originality
I think one of the main components that makes Modest Mouse so original is the delivery of the lyrics, combined with the lyrics themself. I mean, how many people have you heard sing like Issac? He breaks up words at the most unexpected syllables, like "she ionizes and atomizes" look at all the lyrics to that song, he is doing some crazy shit with those vocals. The other thing I wanted to bring up is that I personally believe that Modest Mouse's originality wouldn't be maintained without the equal originality of both Eric and Jeremiah. Jeremiah's drumming is epic and Eric's basslines practically define the modest mouse sound because they are always played so high yet somehow always sound so pure and full, even though they're not low and thumping. just thought I'd spit out these thoughts r

Hey, Did anyone ever agree on an insert for the subject line that would allow for sorting list mail with/without MM content? Somebody must be interested in filtering list mail.
