Good evening from Singapore,

Our customer (company name is Confidential/not disclosed) reported that their
MySQL database has been found missing or was deleted a few times.

While it is bad form to explain how to break into anyone's software
(including our own), there are places you can look to get a better idea
about what might have happened:

1 - the database may have been removed by a DROP DATABASE command.

General Query Log - this will show you which session issued the command
and the command itself.

Audit log (only for commercial releases) - same thing

Binary Log - Should have a record of the command executing. But,
depending on which account was used or if Binary Log filtering is in
place, it may not. This presumes that the Binary Log is even enabled on
this system. Many people mistakenly believe it is only for Replication
when its other primary use is for point-in-time recovery. If your
customer has a recent backup and all of the Binary Log files created
since that backup, they could return the system to the point it was at
just before that database went missing, skip that DROP command, then
continue rolling forward the changes to the other tables to return to a
"current" state of their data.

2 - The database was "dropped" by either changing privileges to the
folder or by removing it from disk or some other file-level or
system-level operation. Either of those would cause errors to start
appearing in the MySQL Error Log because a resource that mysqld thinks
should exist is no longer available. While the Error Log can't tell
you which operation made those files "no longer available" it will have
a fingerprint that such an action happened outside of mysqld.

Have you determined which method was used to make that database/schema
disappear?

A normal DROP command (which could happen through an SQL injection
attack) would not leave messages in the Error Log about "unable to
access ..." or something similar. The server (mysqld) would know that
the database was gone (because it removed it) and it wouldn't be trying
to find it or the tables within it for your clients to use it.

... snip ...
No matter how many commands I try, sqlmap always report that phpMyAdmin 4.8.4
is *NOT* SQL injectable. Perhaps I was using the wrong sqlmap commands all the
time? The following is one of the many sqlmap commands I have used.

$ python sqlmap.py -u "https://www.EXAMPLE.com/phymyadmin/index.php?id=1; --level=1
--dbms=mysql --sql-query="drop database"

Privately asking phpMyAdmin may be a better source of information about
how to hack their system to do things it was not intended to do. This
list is not about phpMyAdmin and it is very public. They may also have
a way of showing you some kind of trace or log that serves as a
fingerprint for that happening.

How do I determine if versions of phpMyAdmin before 4.8.5 is SQL Injectable using sqlmap?

2019-04-17 Thread Turritopsis Dohrnii Teo En Ming
Subject/Topic: How do I determine if versions of phpMyAdmin before 4.8.5 is SQL
Injectable using sqlmap?

Good evening from Singapore,

Our customer (company name is Confidential/not disclosed) reported that their
MySQL database has been found missing or was deleted a few times. They are
using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Linux server with Apache2 Web Server, MySQL and PHP
(LAMP).

We responded to these security incidents by changing the passwords of the
regular user, root user, and MySQL database user root. We have also examined
/var/log/auth.log and think that the hacker could not have come in through ssh
or sftp over ssh. From /var/log/mysql/error.log, we can ascertain that the
MySQL database has been deleted at certain timings. We have also found nothing
abnormal after examining /var/log/apache2/access.log.

Even though we have secured the Ubuntu Linux server by changing passwords, the
hacker was still able to delete our customer's MySQL database again and again.
I have already proposed to install ModSecurity Open Source Web Application
Firewall (WAF) to defend against web application attacks but my boss has told
me to put that on hold at the moment. In fact, I have already deployed
ModSecurity 2.9.0 on a Ubuntu 16.04 LTS *Testing* server and found that it
actively detects and logs Nessus and sqlmap vulnerability scans in blocking
mode.

Since we did not find any evidence that the hacker had breached our customer's
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS production server through ssh or Teamviewer, we suspect that
the hacker could have achieved it by SQL injection. I took the initiative of
downloading and installing Nessus Professional 8.3.1 Trial version for Windows
64-bit. The vulnerability scan report generated by Nessus Web Application Tests
shows that our customer is using a version of phpMyAdmin prior to 4.8.5 which
could be vulnerable to SQL injection using the designer feature.

Further research shows that I can use sqlmap to determine if phpMyAdmin is SQL
injectable. I already have a Testing Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Linux server with a
Testing MySQL database and a Testing phpMyAdmin 4.8.4. I have purposely
installed phpMyAdmin 4.8.4 because this version was reported to be vulnerable
to SQL injection using the designer feature, and our customer is using a
vulnerable version, according to CVE-2019-6798 (
https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2019-6798 ). Then I proceeded to download
and execute sqlmap on our Ubuntu Linux desktop against our Testing server.

No matter how many commands I try, sqlmap always report that phpMyAdmin 4.8.4
is *NOT* SQL injectable. Perhaps I was using the wrong sqlmap commands all the
time? The following is one of the many sqlmap commands I have used.

$ python sqlmap.py -u "https://www.EXAMPLE.com/phymyadmin/index.php?id=1;
--level=1 --dbms=mysql --sql-query="drop database"

Replace database by database name.

May I know what is the correct sqlmap command that I should use to determine
that my Testing phpMyAdmin 4.8.4 is SQL injectable? I would like to know if I
can successfully drop/delete the Testing database on our Testing server. If I
can successfully drop/delete the Testing MySQL database using sqlmap, I would
be able to conclude that the hacker must have carried out SQL injection to
drop/delete the customer's database. I have already turned off the Testing
ModSecurity Web Application Firewall on our Testing server to allow sqlmap to
go through.

Please point me to any good tutorial on SQL injection using sqlmap. Maybe I do
not understand SQL injection well enough. Our customer is also using a
customised in-house inventory management system that relies on PHP application
and MySQL database.

Would open source Snort Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Intrusion
Prevention System (IPS) be able to detect and block SQL injection as well?

Please advise.

Thank you very much.

changing mySQL table name screws phpMyAdmin?? reverting change fixes??

2012-08-08 Thread Rajeev Prasad
I changed a name of the table from within phpMyAdmin, and immediately it
crapped. after that when I try to connect using phpMyAdmin
(/phpMyAdmin/index.php) I get error in log:
[Wed Aug 0814:18:582012][error]Query call
failed:Table'mydb.mychangedtbls'doesn't exist (1146)
(I changed the name from mychangedtbls to mychangedtbl)
mychangedtbl is the table whose name was changed. this issue is only in
phpMyAdmin, I am able to access the database and tables find from CLI. I
restarted mySQL, but that did not fix. Seems like something is stuck for
phpMyAdmin. I restarted browser also but that didnt help either.
when i rename this particular table back to what it was using command line,
myphphAmin works fine again. here is the structure of this table:

    mysqlDESCRIBE mychangedtbl;
    +---+-+--+-+-+---+
    |Field     |Type        |Null|Key|Default|Extra |
    +---+-+--+-+-+---+
    |userid    |char(6)    |NO   |PRI |NULL   |      |

    |userpcip  |varchar(45)|NO   |    |NULL   |      |
    +---+-+--+-+-+---+
    4rows inset(0.00sec)
mysql

column userpass has Collation = asci_bin which it does not show in above
output, other columns are ascii_general_ci

SHOW CREATE TABLE is more descriptive than DESCRIBE.
You are more likely to get the collation information that way.

phpMyAdmin Privileges Query

2010-07-04 Thread Michael Trewartha
Hello, just wondering if anyone can advise the query that phpMyAdmin generates
to list all the privileges for a specific database.

What I'm after is an output like:

+-++--+-+
|User | Host| Type | Privileges |
+-++--+-+
| A | a.b.c.d | global | S, I, U, D |
| B | localhost | database-specific | S, I, U |
+-++--++

Thanks,
Mike.

Re: phpMyAdmin links?

2009-11-24 Thread Jan Steinman
Is there a way to have a permalink to pages in phpMyAdmin,
particularly record editing pages?

I successfully did it -- for a while -- by simply copying the URL when
I was on a record editing page and replacing the obvious key GET
parameter with a variable. But that URL has a GET parameter called
token with an opaque identifier that I'll bet is a session handle.
You can't go to the record without it, and if it's included, it stops
working after some period of time.

I'm doing some custom web database work, and for debug and admin
purposes only, I want to create a link whenever a primary key is shown
that will allow let me at the raw data, dammit editing.

Thanks for whatever help you can offer, including suggesting a
different list or approach or tool. (I haven't looked for a phpMyAdmin
list yet.)

Importing any large file via phpMyAdmin is likely to have problems, as
you'll find yourself limited by the maximum upload file size of the web
server where phpMyAdmin is running (that's typically 2Mb for PHP on
Apache, although the administrators can change that). But the source of
the file is irrelevant; so long as it's within the file upload limit
then it doesn't matter whether it was exported by phpMyAdmin itself or

hi there, thanks for your reply.

the mysql server is running on windows xp sp3, every time I use root user to
log in.

the command line i use for mysqldump is

mysqldump --user=root --password=pass testtest.sql

phpmyadmin is with following checked

Add DROP TABLE / VIEW / PROCEDURE / FUNCTION / EVENT

Add IF NOT EXISTS

Add AUTO_INCREMENT value

Enclose table and field names with backquotes

Complete inserts

Extended inserts

I read about the manual saying that mysqldump is default enabled with -opt,
which is --add-drop-table --add-locks --create-options --disable-keys
--extended-insert --lock-tables --quick --set-charset.

So I wonder what is the most secure way to backup mysql database to keep
data consistency?

I wonder if you are doing the import with phpMySQL.

It does not seem possible to import a large database with phpMySQL (or
perhaps any php based utility?) on a local PC running windows without
hitting various timeouts.

I am dealing with large import by doing them directly using mysql at the
command line level

 Hello and Greetings mysql list,

A few weeks ago, I posted a question here about importing a database
to my local XP pro system and getting loads of MySQL server went away
errors during the import. I got suggestions about increasing max
packet size and a few other parameters which I followed but still
could not get a clean import with out the server going away error.

I have since some more troubleshooting to try to narrow in on the
source of the problem. The table that is getting the error I have
isolated and know that it is a PhotoPlog data table that contains all
the binary images that it is storing. The Table has two fields defined
with mediumblob, one for the picture and the second one for the
 thumbnail.

I have used phpMySQL to export this table and noticed that it is
dumping these fields as HEX and not binary and think that this may be
the source of the problem with importing to another system.

Anyone have any thoughts on MediumBlog being dumped out as HEX?

The other troublesome part of this problem is that only some of the
records have problems and no clue what the distinction is between the
ones that work and the ones that fail?

Any pointer greatly appreciated as always.

 TIA

How to create references and insert into values in phpmyadmin?

2006-06-28 Thread Andreas Bauer
Hello NG,

how can I implement a reference in phpmyadmin between two fields from
two different tables, so that the two fields of the two different tables
have the same values? And if I have to fill this two tables by building and
executing
the insert into command, which default value of the referenced fields do I
have
to take using the insert into command? The primary key ID field of the first
table do not have a value by building the insert into command.
But the other referenced field of the table two? Which value using insert
into?
The two referenced fields are an auto_increment, primary key ID
field of the table 1 and another field, Typ: index, of the table 2.
In postgres the value filling the table 2 is currval(sequence), how
to in mysql?:

insert into table 2 (authorid, title, subtitle)
values (currval('s_authors'), 'Effektiv C++ Programmieren',
'50 Wege zur Verbesserung Ihrer Programme und Entwuerfe');

Best regards

The config.inc.php is in the main phpmyadmin folder not in the config

Your import function is BROKEN in a major way, by requiring quotes
where they are not strictly necessary to conform to the CSV
specification.

That said, it's probably easier to get phpMyAdmin to always quote the
output than it is to fix whatever broken import tool you are using.

The program I am using to import the data is the MySQL tools. They
don't like the output of phpMyAdmin 2.6.1-rc1. And I don't have any
control over the server so I can't upgrade the version either. Unless
 I
find a work around, I'm SOL

You could probably import into something smart enough to handle the
missing quotes, then export with a setting that always quotes.

I believe Excel (gak!) would do this correctly.

PHP's http://php.net/fgetcsv might do the right thing, and you could
write out the CSV any which way you want... Or, at that point, just
write an INSERT query.

Which route to take depends how big the file is, and how often you
have to do this and what tools you are familiar with.

I am using phpMyAdmin 2.6.1-rc. I have no control over that as I am not

varchar. Some get quoted and some do not. Also some integer columns
get quoted for some reason I am unaware of. With out quoting the
strings it makes the output worthless.

Fw: Access denied-phpMyAdmin

2005-04-17 Thread Alvaro Cobo
Hi Mark:

First of all, have you commented out the line Allow networking in the
/etc/mysql/my.cnf?. If not, put a # before this line. Probably this error
is because of this directive.

Second, assuming that you have created the phpMyAdmin database with the
script provided, and assuming that you have set the
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] variable to http, in the config.inc.php
file, have you set the variable $cfg['Servers'][$i]['controluser'] with the
proper user and have you given the proper privileges to this user?.

And third, check the privileges of the root user (for the localhost and
other hosts). Probably the privileges are set to the localhost, but not to
remote hosts, so you cannot acces from there.

I hope this clues are helpful for you.

Best regards,

Alvaro

Re: MySQL and phpMyAdmin

2005-03-19 Thread Michael Stassen
Did you try searching on the error message first? I got hundreds of hits in
Google for this. Searching the mysql docs, the first hit
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/old-client.html has the explanation.

The short version is that password security has been improved in mysql 4.1,
so clients need to be compiled against a 4.1 mysql client library to work.
Your copy of php, however, is compiled against an older version of the
client library (probably 3.23).

You can tell mysql to accept old-style passwords (details in the
documentation linked above)for one or all users, but the better solution is
to fix your copy of php, either by installing a php package pre-compiled
against the newer client library, or by building php from source yourself
using your copy of the mysql client library. Either way, you can find
directions at the php site and elsewhere.

showed it not installed. I then did a yum install php-mysql which showed

Perhaps the mysql, php and phpmyadmin documentation may help. I had
phpmyadmin up and running in about 10 minutes.

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/index.html
http://www.php.net
http://www.phpmyadmin.net
The docs are most comprehensive and go over everything you have noted above.

This probably isn't the problem in itself, but I thought I might share this
with you. But here is how mine is setup:
$cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] = 'http://'.$_SERVER[HTTP_HOST].'/phpmyadmin/';
That just assures me that I can use the IP address or domain name without
it giving me a problem and I can also move the directory to another server
without having to change this line each time. Where mine has
/phpmyadmin/, you will of course need to change that to the directory it
is in.

Either create a Web page with this in it:
  ?php phpinfo(); ?
or if you have CLI (running `which php` returns something), just
`php -i` will get you a long, not-too-formatted listing of what's
compiled in your PHP installation.

If your php was built with mysql support, there will be a mysql section in
the output of phpinfo(). Given your error message, I'd guess your php was
not built with mysql support.

[1.20] I receive the error cannot load MySQL extension, please check PHP

To connect to a MySQL server, PHP needs a set of MySQL functions called
MySQL extension. This extension may be part of the PHP distribution

probably mysql.so or php_mysql.dll. phpMyAdmin tried to load the extension

php-mysql-4.2.2-17.2. Do you have the php-mysql installed if you are

php_mysql.dll installed? Can you connect to your database from ANY of
your php scripts? Or is this the only one you can't connect from?

RES: phpmyadmin can't connect via browser

2005-03-13 Thread Robert Restad
I dont remember exactly what you have to do,

But there is password incompability between versions of MySQL, latest
versions doesnt accept the old password type. (I copied some MySQL raw
datafiles from one computer to another, and I got the same problem as
you)

Research MySQL website for oldpassword or something, then you should
find your answer.

Regards
Robert.

It looks to have re-installed mysql again. Does this mean I now have the
mysql database installed 2 times..? Seems like it, yes..? Now, 2 things
I need to ask, 1. How do I determine whether I need to configure php to
work with mysql and 2. how do I actually configure if needed.? Cheers.

P.S. After the yum install and an updatedb I did a search for php-mysql
via which wheris and locate, below is the results.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# updatedb
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# which php-mysql
/usr/bin/which: no php-mysql in

/var/cache/yum/updates-released/headers/php-mysql-4.3.10-3.2.i386.hdr

Hope I've given enuff info this time. Cheers, again. (Oh, btw, I'm not a
php programmer etc, I'm just doing this so I can say to a future
employer, yes, I can install/setup/config php/mysql etc if you need it).

You have mysql 4.1.8, but your php was built with the library for an earlier
version, which, as the error message says, doesn't support the new, more
secure authentication protocol. Your choices are to tell mysql to use the
older, less-secure protocol, or build a copy of php using your current mysql
client library. See the manual for more
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/old-client.html.

RE: MySQL Error 1251 / phpMyAdmin

2005-02-07 Thread Logan, David (SST - Adelaide)
I don't know much about the windows side of things so these are the only
resources I could find.

From the http://www.phpadmin.net site FAQ

[1.17a] I cannot connect to the MySQL server. It always returns the
error message, Client does not support authentication protocol
requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

You tried to access MySQL with an old MySQL client library. The version
of your MySQL client library can be checked in your phpinfo() output.
In general, it should have at least the same minor version as your
server - as mentioned in FAQ 1.17.
The only way to fix this problem is manually compiling php and its MySQL
extension against a current MySQL client library.
If you still face this problem, please compile your MySQL client library
against the same or a newer MySQL release.

From the http://www.php.net site mysql_connect function, while not
exactly the same version, the same problem occurs.

maybe you have seen this (using PHP 4.3.9 and MySQL client/server 4.1)

Error w/ php: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication
protocol

Solution:
mysql -u root-p

SET PASSWORD FOR [EMAIL PROTECTED] = OLD_PASSWORD('password');

It is clearly that this is a bug in PHP's mysql module, perhaps it will
be upgraded in the next version

MySQL insert with PHPMyAdmin

2005-01-06 Thread leegold
Can using PHPMyAdmin cause problems. What I'm doing is, I'm using
PHPMyAdmi as a data entry tool. I create a new record in a table and
then fill in the fields with the field editing and insert abilities of
PHPMyAdmin. For a remote user of course I'd escape any inserted strings
with addslashes or mysql_escape PHP functions. But I wouldn't do
anything mailicious to my own DB so I'm just using PHPMyAdmin to insert,
edit...anything. Are any problems possible by me doing this?

Thanks, Lee G.

As far as I know there should not be any problem but I
prefer SQLyog for all my MySQL work.

It even has HTTP Tunneling to access dbs that dont

RE: [PHP] phpMyAdmin w/ winXP - IIS w/PHP 4.3 w/mysql 4.1.8

2005-01-01 Thread Donny Simonton
The problem is not with phpmyadmin, the problem is with php. If you install
4.3 of php it will not work with mysql 4.1.8 or any version mysql 4.1 or
5.0. It will only work if you turn on the short passwords option in 4.1.
I've not tried it on 5.0 lately. You can get it installed but it takes a
little work. This is not a phpmyadmin bug it's all, it's not really a php,
and it's not a mysql bug. I reported it to both phpmyadmin and php.net over
a year ago.

Think this is a problem, wait until you get a $40k 64 bit machine and try to
install php on it via source because you want to use php 4.3 and mysql 4.1
and you find out you can't install anything because 64 bit installs stuff in
different places than php is expecting it. And the php devel team has no
plans on fix it. So you have to hack the config script to get it to work.

Donny

phpmyadmin cannot create database

2004-12-05 Thread Fajar Priyanto
Hi folks,
I'm trying phpmyadmin 2.6.0-pl3 with mysql 4.0.15
I notice that when I setup and use the pma user in the config, I cannot create

But if I don't use the pma options, I can create database.

Can you shed a light on me pls? Thanks.

Install problems with phpMyAdmin

2004-12-01 Thread Gunter Götz
Hello experts,

according the desprictions I have installed the phpMyAdmin (2.6.0-pl3) as
following:

  shell su - enter
  shell mv phpMyAdmin-2.6.0-pl3.tar.tar /usr/sbin/ enter
  shell cd /usr/sbin/ enter
  shell tar -zxf phpMyAdmin-2.6.0-pl3.tar.tar enter
  shell rm phpMyAdmin-2.6.0-pl3.tar.tar
  shell mv phpMyAdmin-2.6.0-pl3/ phpMyAdmin
  shell phpMyAdmin/ enter

At the configuration file I did following changes:

  shell vi config.inc.php

  $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] = 'http://localhost/phpMyAdmin';
  $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'http';
  $cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = '';

After that I startet a browser(Mozilla) at that local server and entered:
http://localhost/phpMyAdmin/
But unfortunately it appeared only the message The connection was refused
when attempting to
contact localhost.

On that server runs a mysql server (V.4.0.22) which is placed in
/usr/sbin/mysqld.

I`m just a beginner with linux, mysql and phpMyAdmin. Who can give me
support? Is there any
additional software for PHP necessary?

Thanks in advance
Gunter

phpmyadmin is a web application. You extracted it to your /usr/sbin
directory which is probably not where your web server is looking for
files (unless you directed it to do so in your httpd.conf). The default
for Apache is in the apache install directory (often
/usr/local/apache/html).

At the configuration file I did following changes:

Sounds like your web server is either not running or is running on a
different port (you would have to alter the std port in httpd.conf)

On that server runs a mysql server (V.4.0.22) which is placed in
/usr/sbin/mysqld.

To run phpmyadmin you need:
Web Server that supports php (Apache is good, if you get Apache 2.0 use
the prefork option with PHP, if you don't know what that is go with the
1.3.x versions for linux)-- www.apache.org
MySQL-- www.mysql.com
PHP-- www.php.net

There are quite a few Linux distro's that can create all of this during

i struggled w/ this for a while, before learning that even though i had
mysql 4.1 installed, php4 was being compiled w/ it's own built-in mysql
libraries, which are pre-4.1, hence the error. compiling php5 will
solve the problem, as it's included mysql libraries are apparently
newer, or compiling php4, and pointing configure to your mysql
libraries (--with-mysql=/path/to/mysql) will also work.

FWIW, I have been using PHP5 for a while now with
MySQL 4.1.14-gamma. If I compile PHP5 with MySQL
4.1.14 libraries things go crazy and I get
reproducible and strange errors during queries.

Compile PHP5 against the old MySQL 4.0.x libraries and
everything is ok. Everything works fine and you end up
with a working apache/php that works just fine
accessing a running 4.1.14 MySQL.

I have not tried compiling against 4.1.17 (production)
so my comments may be irrelevant but I HTH you in case
the problem is not yet fixed and you do decide to try
compiling PHP5 against MySql 4.1.x.

I did have to change my default collation in
phpMyAdmin when I upgraded to 4.1 via the PMA front
page.

Andrew.

You need to get caught up on your reading. The password hash changed as of
4.1 and this behavior is well documented. Start here:

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/Problems.html

and if you have more questions read this

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/Password_hashing.html

What it boils down to is that you are using pre-4.1 clients (phpMyAdmin is
a MySQL client) with a 4.1+ server. Several workaround are in the reading
I just gave you.

I had the same problem on my Linux suse 9.1 box. I was using a mysql
client/server that came with my distro. Got the same error as you trying to
connect with phpmyadmin, while I was sure to have installed the proper client
(4.1) via rpm (and deleted the 4.0 one).

I also read the passw hashing documentation and followed their instructions,
with no result. After a while I was getting sick of all the new errors
(probably due to myself ;), so I decided to start over from scratch. At the
same time I could upgrade to php5 and Apache 2.0

What I did:

- deleting all mysql stuff through my package manager (Yast for SUSE)
- deleting my apache webserver
- deleting PHP4.3

Afterwards:

- installed mysql 4.1 client, server and shared rpm's
- compiled apache
- compiled php5

And I was having the latest lamp working.

Phpmyadmin runs without problems

Notes:

- this was on my development machine
- I'm not pushing mysql to the end when I use it (in a basic way)
- maybe not the nicest solution, but digging 2 days through documentation
isn't nice either.
- I got my lamp working in less then 2 hours.

Problems with phpMyAdmin, GD library, and jpegs

2004-09-27 Thread Keith Brownmiller
Greetings,

Am having some problems with phpMyAdmin, GD library and jpegs.

Here is the short version of the story.

I installed phpMyAdmin, modified a database to install a graphic image into one of
the tables and it showed the graphic from within phpMyAdmin - no problem.
I then wrote a very simple php route to connect to the database and display the
record. - that failed with mention of a problem relating to GD library.

I then went to the O'Reilly Programming PHP book and discovered that I needed the GD
library. It stated that I should be able to do a phpinfo() and find the gd section
of the report to find out it it was using the GD library.

I got that installed and functioning using a simple example from the O'Reilly book and
am able to get the black square on the screen.

Now if I go to phpMyAdmin, I am not able to see the graphic in the database like
before nor can I display the graphic from some basic php code.

Am really stumped on this one. Can provide more detail to anybody that can assist in
getting this problem solved.

Thanks

2004-09-27 Thread Eric Bergen
If you are storing a complete image in MySQL you don't need gd at all.
Just output the correct header and the image file. GD is for creating
images on the fly. Also if you can store the image in a file on disk
and the path to the image in MySQL.

showing dbs in terminal window opposed to phpmyadmin

2004-08-23 Thread Hull, Douglas D
How come when I am using the terminal on my mac os x 10.3.x and give the command show
databases I only see one database (the 'test' database that is included in the
install') as compared to viewing databases with my browser and phpmyadmin I can see 6
databases (that same 'test' database, a 'mysql' database that came with the install,
and 4 other databases I created myself while in phpmyadmin)? Shouldn't I have access
to all of them from the terminal as well?

Thanks again,
Doug
