RE: [NSWolves] Ominous warning for Tuesday? [sec=unclassified]

2009-12-13 Thread Morris, Lee SGT
One thing I'm really enjoying about this season is the amount of Wolves
games that have been show live of fox. Almost every game has been shown
and this continues on Wednesday morning. Its not always pretty but at
least we can see them play.

Anyone remember the last time we played Man U in the league? 1-0 (Kenny
Miller winner meant I won a fair few dollars), we had some good chances
in the away game too with Henri Judas Camara providing some
entertainment.

This is a quote from Vidic after ManUre's defeat against Villa. Must
say I find it a little disrespectful that he sees our game as the best
chance to score goals and regain their confidence (even if it may be
true). Is he suggesting that we are the worst team in the league??

I guess it's not the ideal time to have to play ManUre who will
definitely be looking to rebound, but maybe, just maybe, their
confidence is down with all their injuries and a loss at home to Villa.

Vidic hopes the reigning champions can take advantage of their encounter
Tuesday with Wolverhampton.
This is our best chance to play well, score goals and bring the
confidence back, insisted Vidic. It's important when you lose a game
to have the next one quickly, so you can play better and fix what you
did in the last match.

I'd be suprised if he changed a winning team bar Edwards. I'd have
thought that was footballing basics but then we've seen Mick try to pick
sides for strategies so it's not ruled out. Surely he'll have learnt
that it hasn't worked?

More pressure on Manure tomorrow than Wolves. As Mick said in his
interview Did I expect to get three points off Spurs at the start of
the season? No. Did we come here expecting to get beat? No.

I like that way of looking at it. In fact I like him more and more the
more I hear of him (but not as much as Marcus did in Perth yet).

Who's in for Edwards? Foley?

Realistically a win or draw at Old Trafford will be a massive
bonus. However they are vulnerable and as Saturday proved, anything can
happen.

A game like this straight after the Spurs effort will be a big
big test for our players...I bet they were sore on Sunday morning.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a couple of changes in the
lineup with MM resting players in preparation for Burnley on Saturday.

Afternoon all,

I had a call from a Christmas elf today letting me know that they have
just had a delivery of Banks's Original Smoothflow (widget cans) arrive
in Australia, just in time for Christmas consumption.

There are 24 x 440ml cans per case and the estimated cost is $110 =
$4.60 per can or just over 1c per ml. (I am still negotiating a final
price with the importers)

If anyone is interested in a case or 5 can you please let me know ASAP
by return email. Please let your friends and family know about this as
well because the more we order the cheaper the price. For interstate
drinkers I am also working out if they can deliver for no additional
cost.

Have yourself a Merry Banks's Christmas.

Just been reading the comments / feedback on the Express Star.

Although we are all obviously very happy with the win, I think most
people realise Bolton were extremely poor yet we still made hard work of
it towards the end.

I was as nervous as I've been for ages watching the last fifteen
minutes, we were lucky to hang on.

Ebanks Blake has become totally non effective, maybe give Keogh a run up
front with Doyle, at least he'd work his socks off.

Anyone think we may just spring a surprise against Spurs?

of them aren't good enough, however here are my thoughts on an inept
few;

Mancienne looked totally useless to me, didn't seem to have a
clue where he was supposed to be.
Ward made a big difference when he came on but collectively
even that wasn't good enough at least he gets stuck in and is more
decisive than most.
Ebanks Blake didn't get any good service but whenever he got
near the ball he gave it away and fell in a heap on most occasions.
Don't think its going to happen for him.
Edwards gets involved but he was very lucky not to get booked
because of clumsy tackles, not too bad.
Jarvis was our only threat.
Kightly, who know's, that's probably the last we'll see of him
for a while.
Halford, good job he can throw the ball a long way, but there's
rarely anyone to take advantage.
Hannerman looked very dodgy to start with, might be ok long term
though.
Stearman did what I'd expect of him and gets forward
Henry does the simple things well and always gets lots of
praise, maybe if he tried to be more creative his shortfalls would be
more obvious, don't think he's that special.
Milijas, still think he'd be very effective alongside a
bruiser, by far our best passer of the ball.

McCarthy, time to say goodbye, if he thinks these players are
still good enough after all this time we are doomed. What must Halford
be thinking, taken off so early because MM got it wrong, Mancienne would
of been first off for me.

New manager and some new players who will make a difference for
Christmas PLEASE SANTA = A STRIKER / BRUISING MIDFIELDER / WINGER /
EXPERIENCED CENTRAL DEFENDER just for starters, but get the new manager
in first.

Yes I did back us on the TAB again, even I didn't think we were
this bad.

RE: FW: [NSWolves] Why am I watching this? [sec=unclassified]

2009-11-29 Thread Morris, Lee SGT
So what happened to all the premiership experience? We haven't got one
player who has previously performed well in this league.

The wage structure is that of a top championship team. If that is Moxey
or Morgan's fault fair enough, we can't sack Morgan can we? We will find
out in January because if we don't make some significant quality
signings we are doomed, surely that is plain for everyone to see now..

The yo yo effect doesn't interest me at all, infact it scares the life
out of me. We are where we want to be NOW, so why not go for it?

But that relates to my point about Scott Dann. We got the players that
were willing to accept the wages we offered. That's Morgan and Moxey's
fault.

Ultimately McCarthy

They are the players he has brought in and the players he thinks
are good enough.

Can't blame the players if they aren't good enough, what can
they do? Keep trying until it becomes easier in the championship next

Sorry Marcus,

Your jumps in logic and assumptions, points 1,2 and 3, were not what I
implied in my email. Far from it. Sorry, I do not have your Financial
acumen / programming to make the conclusions you have drawn.

To be clear, my comments on your points as follows:

1. Disagree. Firstly, look at all the foreign Coaches in the
Premier league at the moment. How many of them had Premier league
experience before they were appointed by their respective clubs? If you
have the talent and the backing of the Club then you do not need Premier
league experience to make it as a successful Coach. People like Steve
Coppell and Alan Curbishley achieved promotion with their respective
sides before acquiring Premier League management experience. As they
deserved, just like MM has after achieving promotion.
2. Disagree, MM has earned his chance to manage the Wolves in the
Prem.
3. Partly agree, if we were to appoint another Manager then yes,
you would think the club would appoint someone with a consistent record
of being successful in the Premier League. How to do this? Pay them a
lot of money! Give them full control of player recruitment. Bonus scheme
for level of success attained. Free tickets to Led Zep concerts and
balti pies on match days!

I might be a bit confused this morning but based on the comments from
the previous emails it seems:

1) you can't manage a Premier League team unless you have a successful
track record of managing a Premier League team - in that case how do get
the opportunity to try?

2) on the basis that Thick Mick has a good record in the Championship
but a crap record at managing in the Premier League then he shouldn't be
our manager - he should always remain a Championship level manager.

3) if the only managers that are suitable for the premier league are the
successful ones, how do you get them to leave their successful clubs to
manager sh1te teams like Wolves?

Are you serious Lee?

Posh are bottom of the League, that is why he has been sacked. Even
though I think it very harsh he has been sacked so quickly after
successive promotions. That said the management at Posh are obviously
convinced he can't turn it around.

Okay MM has been bottom of the Premier League with us and Sunderland but
to my knowledge he has never been bottom of the Championship with a
team, far from it!!

Ferguson was useless down the Molineux, played only a handful of good
games from memory. Obviously has been successful as a lower league
Manager but has not made the grade at Championship level. What makes you
think he will be successful for the Wolves in the Premier?

I know, that's what I'm sayingIF anyone else is going to come in
there has to be enough time for them to sort us out. So IF we are in a
dire position in six weeks time, maybe then is the time.

Again, if we were to get the points against the likes of Bolton and Brum

As someone else has already said, we are starting to look like Albion

HOWEVER, Steve Morgan is a successful businessman, I'm pretty sure he
would be starting to think Hey hang on, this bloke may not be right for
my business maybe Mr ? is a better bet (again I'm not talking
about Fergusson in particular).

I'm not calling for MM's head yet but it might not be too much longer, I
share the belief that making changes before the problem is irreversible
is the way to go in football.

I think it will be a major nail in our coffin if we drop into the bottom
three now. The teams around us are generally picking up and I can't see
where our next win is coming from.

I'm usually an optimist but after seeing us torn apart by Blackburn,
struggle against Pompey and only draw at home against Hull I am worried.

Look where all those teams are now, and add West Ham who beat us 2-0 for
good luck.

[NSWolves] Re: wolves villa match [sec=unclassified]

2009-10-26 Thread Morris, Lee SGT
Is the Stoke game televised?

Agree Zubar looks like he could be a very good player, but who'd of
thought Craddock would be so solid at this stage of his career (people
were calling for his head in the championship two years ago) I thought
the couple of touches Milijas had when he came on really opened things
up, but I don't think he's the type of player we can start with in every
game, he was very very poor in two of the four games I saw in the UK
recently.

The bottom line is we have to start scoring more goals, maybe SEB will
start knocking them in now but if he doesn't we need a fairly prolific
goal scorer in when the transfer window opens. The form of Doyle proves
to me what you have to pay to get quality at this level.

We need to win at Stoke.

Surprised no one has commented yet after the weekend, so I may as well
open it up.

First half I thought Villa were woeful. As the faithful sang, they were
worse than West Brom. We should have nabbed one at least, but I just
feel that we lack that one person who can smack one in from the edge of
the box. We seem to be taking the ball that little bit too far, instead
of laying it back and having a go. Milijas perhaps? Kightly I thought is
getting better and better, and that move before the penalty was first
class. Good to see SEB get one - hopefully now he will go on a run.
Doyle just continues to impress. Castillo and Henry were very solid,
although I'd like to see Milijas in there somewhere, but at who's
expense? Zubar also continues to impress, and seems to have the crowd in
his favour chanting his name. Craddock was also very solid. Big George,
what he lacks in finesse, he makes up in muscle sometimes. However his
short game sometimes lacks quality and seems cumbersome. Second half I
thought we sat back a bit more, and didn't seem to have the edge that we
did in the first half. Maybe we came out hoping that it was still
raining? Anyhow - another good point, although a win against Stoke would
be nice. But then - a win anywhere is nice.

I'd like to see Kightly and Jarvis on the wings with Milijas given a

is good enough, however with two really quick wingers we might see the
best of Milijas. I'd like to see a real bruiser in midfield alongside
him, we haven't got anyone like thata young version of Ince or Alex

I'm not sure about Halfordare we playing him purely for his long

Seems little point in three out of four midfielders as playmakers if we
can't get the ball.

I'd be interested in something like this for Villa. What do you all
think? I like the idea of Milijas too. I understand he usually plays
in a more advanced position which is no use in 442 with two traditional
strikers but could work like this.

Zubar--Craddock--Berra---Mancienne
--Henry-Castillo--

I agree Steve, Mancienne at left back on Saturday will be MM's
change to the team. Ward is out for a few more weeks at least.

Castillo may well have more bite, but it is the lack of a killer
final ball that is hindering us at the moment. Castillo hasn't shown he
has this string to his bow yet. Milijas has in my opinion and should be
given another chance.

Mancienne at LB from now on? When is Ward back?

Agree about the Hen. I rubbed my eyes in disbelief when the
ball seemed to be punched away from near the penalty spot.

I think things are improving. Not sure about Milijas,
especially with two strikers. I'd have thought Castillo would add more
bite.

2009/10/19 pcr...@contechengineering.com

I hate to sound like a broken record but until we get some class
in the middle of the park to feed the likes of Doyle and SEB we are
going to struggle to win these types of games. Everton were nothing
special and there for the taking, a bit more guile and composure with
the final ball to the front two and we could have scored 3 or 4 more. I
really hope he brings back Milijas and gives him another chance.

Best game I have seen from Hennessey in ages, seems like they
have been coaching / encouraging him to come for crosses. Did not make a
mistake all game in my opinion.

Zubar had a good debut alongside the excellent Craddock and
Berra. Elokobi is not up so standard as we have said before, at fault
for the Everton goal, nowhere near his man and just ball watching.

If we can get something from the Villa game I will be happy.

Sorry I won't be able to make it on Wednesday as I am down in
Finley, NSW and don't get back until 9pm.

Paul.

I watched four games whilst in the UK recently and its rather strange
trying to work out this team.

For me there are obvioulsly several passengers, players simply not good
enough, amongst them the obvious ones are Halford, Keogh, and probably
Elokobi, I say probably because he looked ok against Hull and to a
lesser extend Pompey but was totally outclassed in the cup game against
Man U.

I agree Mancienne is a liability, I watched him pass the ball cross
field in his area again against Pompey, basic fundamental mistake.

Jarvis is also up and down, in one game he looked very hesitant but
against Hull he was threatening.

I know West Brom kept saying it last year but I have to say we were
unlucky not to win against Hull and possibly Pompey, we definately
deserved a win against Hulland had a dead set certainly penalty
appeal go against us against Pompey...these are easy games though and we
will need a lot more than a little luck against harder teams.

I feel sorry for Keogh, Mad Mick obviously sees something in his ability
that the rest of us don't

He is no worse than Elokobi, Jarvis, Karl the crab, Blake, or even
Mancienne at the moment

He has a scapegoat past that has now come back as we have endured this
disastrous start. The fans have already realised we are at least 4
points behind where we should have been to have any hope of survival.
Now, having played the three teams below us, ( and lost to 2 of them),
we find ourselves playing catch up

Mancienne should be dropped, his positional play is poor, he has cost us
at least 6 goals in the last 4 games, and Berra has took a lot of flak
for this. In reality, Elokobo is the main culprit .He is woeful, and
Mancienne feels the need to cover him all the time, Berra then tries to
cover the holes that Mancienne leaves, and, it doesn't take long to work
us out

Blake, oh dear, he look like a fish out of water at this level. I would
play Vokes instead of him

Henry is one of the main reasons we are so poor. He is not a leader, he
is too defensive minded, always look to pass back rather than forward

Jarvis... couldn't lace Robbie Dennison's boots Allegedly has put
the most crosses in so far in the PL (85)... trouble is, 84 of them hit
the opposing full back

So yes, Keogh is poor, but a passenger on the same bus as the majority
of them

The benchmark point allocation for survival is touted at 38 points

Mr Einstein has worked out that is 31 more than we have now

We won't get any points at all against Manure , Arse, Pool, Chelski... I
don't think we will get anything either at Everton, Villa, Fulham, West
Ham , Stoke, or at home to Man City, Villa, ... so that leaves us ,
realistically, with around 16 games to glean 31 points from to secure
survival

If we had got those 4 points more from the first 8 games, I would say it
was more than likely we would stay up

As it is, we may as well start planning for life in the fizzy pop again
next year

What a waste of time getting promoted . Just to get all that spin from
Moxey and Morgan to generate ST sales. Despicable.

2009-08-16 Thread Morris, Lee SGT
I agree with most of what has been said.

For me the centre of defence was the problem from the start, an area
already highlighted by many last year and again pre season.

Craddock is poor but I don't lay the blame squarely on him, I didn't
think Mancienne or Stearman when he came on were much better, Noble was
given way too much room for the goal although it was a class strike.

Ebanks Blake didn't cut the mustard, one game does not make a season but
he had chances which need to be put away, we need to sign another
striker immediately.

Milijas was very good, infact he was too good for our lot, they were a
second behind him and a couple of mistimed passes were the result, his
corners were crap, what have they been doing pre season.

Jarvis had loads of ball, a bit more quality on the left and we'd have
nicked it. Likewise Keogh, plenty of the ball, ran his socks off and got
the crowd onside, however he will not score enough goals or create
enough.

Halford looked quite good, yet amazingly he's being knocked on other
forums.

Foley looks the goods, Henry was ok.

So in addition to the obvious central defender we need another quality
striker, a very good right back (despite Ward's versatility he'll be
torn apart against the big guns), and a quality right sided midfielder.

I think with Doyle and Kightly and a couple more key signings we may be
good enough to stay up, if we don't get the injured players back quickly
and strengthen in other areas we are doomed.

Encouraging performance, what we are lacking is that little bit of class
/ composure in front of goal.

Far more positives than negatives. First goal was a screamer! Second
Hennessey and Craddock were at fault, more so Hennessey. You could see
he was mad with himself as he had coped well and come for a few crosses
earlier in the game.

We looked strong going down the left with Milijas, Jarvis and Ward
playing well. Keogh had a very good game in my opinion, far more good
things than bad things. He made a couple of wrong decisions when a
better pass selection could have put SEB in for a chance but hopefully
he will learn from that.

One of the biggest positives to me was we had 9 shots on target and 11
off target! I'm sure Doyle will help us put more of these chances away.
SEB didn't look up for it and had a poor game, should have timed his run
for that header better. He will also be kicking himself that he didn't
score early in the second half. Should have tucked that one away, all he
had to do was lift it over the keeper's legs as Green was committed.
Upton had him in his pocket for most of the game. What was he going on
about with the Ref at half time? Hope MM sorts his ego out quick!

Mancienne and Foley looked very comfortable and not out of place.

Still think we need to improve Centre back, Left back and central
midfield. MM knows this and will make some signings in the next week or
so.

Another good performance at Wigan should fine tune us for a surprise at
Man City!!

In all seriousness I agree with you. It was very encouraging. We
looked PL quality in spite of only adding two players to last season's
side (I'm counting Mancienne as part of last season.

Milijas was a highlight for me. He created and nearly scored a lot.
Halford's throw is great, and I thought he played quite well.

SEB didn't look great to me. We played in a lot of balls in the air and
he's going to be little use for that.

I think we could easily have won on another day but we could also have
gone down 5-0.

Wigan on Tuesday isn't it?

Oh f*ck. So we're definitely going down then. Oh well.

2-0 Definitely flattered West Ham and I definitely saw enough
class in Wolves' play to give me confidence that we will stay up this
season.

[NSWolves] The West Australian [sec=unclassified]

2009-07-06 Thread Morris, Lee SGT

High-flying Wolves touch down in Perth

7th July 2009, 6:00 WST

They don't have the buying power of their heavyweight rivals but English
Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers rolled out around $50 million of
talent at yesterday's first WACA Ground training session.

Wolves, who earned their place among England's elite by winning the second-tier
Championship last season, arrived in Perth in the early hours of yesterday
morning in preparation for Friday's clash with Perth Glory at Members Equity
Stadium.

The touring squad, which includes £6.5 million ($13 million) signing Kevin
Doyle from Reading, will spend the next 10 days in Perth as they continue to
prepare for their return to the lucrative Premier League.

VIDEO: Glory new boys get it together
http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/wan/index.php?rn=12735368cl=14343659

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has been busy in the transfer market recently,
snapping up Doyle, midfielder Andrew Surman from Southampton, defender Greg
Halford from Sunderland, Red Star Belgrade midfielder Nenad Milijas and Ronald
Zubar from Marseille.

Zubar and Milijas will join the squad in Perth this week, while former Celtic
defender Bobo Balde is due to start a trial during Wolves' WA stay.

Although Wolves have limited resources and cannot compete with the spending
clout of the Premier League's big clubs - such as the £17 million Manchester
City splashed out for Blackburn Rovers' Roque Santa Cruz - the club can only
hope being shrewd results in Premier League survival at the end of the season.

And Wolves seem prepared to make up for any shortfall by working even harder
through a pre-season program fashioned by former Aston Villa winger Tony Daley.

McCarthy wasted no time cracking the whip after touching down in Perth as the
players ignored potential jet lag to complete a morning gymnasium session
before a lively workout at the WACA yesterday afternoon.

And the early reports from the visitors were positive, despite the showers that
welcomed them on arrival in Perth. Wolves captain Jody Craddock, who was almost
lured to Glory by coach David Mitchell, compared the WACA surface with the best
the Premier League had to offer.

The former Sunderland defender acknowledged that his decision to reject an
offer from Glory had been prudent given the turnaround in his own fortunes at
Wolves.

I spoke to Dave - it just wasn't the right time, Craddock said.

At the time I was being asked the question, I wasn't in the team and I got
back in the team and held my place down and managed to lift the (Championship)
trophy at the end of the season, which was fantastic for me. So I got my
reward, which was another contract.

Wolves complete their match schedule against North Queensland Fury at Members
Equity Stadium tomorrow week on a night when Glory also face Mark Schwarzer's
Fulham at the same venue.

Tickets for all matches are available through Ticketmaster.

Steve Morgan says one of our next signings will be someone he

totally out of the blue.

[NSWolves] The week that was [sec=unclassified]

2009-07-01 Thread Morris, Lee SGT
OK, we've had a very productive week transfer wise, any guesses who will
be next in

Steve Morgan says one of our next signings will be someone he has
admired for a while, so the Liverpool connection would include Owen and
Crouch who have already been mentioned. It could also be someone totally
out of the blue.

AND don't forget folks, even if we are 0-6 down against Glory next week,
we must carry on supporting the team BECAUSE that's why Surman signed.

Did anyone see the article about the poor response by WA fans to our
game in Perth.

They are saying that 9,000 pre sold tickets to a pre season friendly is
disappointing, having thought that that the game would sell out.

I'm sure there will be a large walk up crowd but even if there isn't,
9,000 plus for a pre season friendly isn't too bad really, the place
only holds 18,000 so its already half full.

Having said that I'd love to see the stadium full.

I'd be happy with 9,000 especially when you think their average home
game gate in the regular season is only 7,000.

I suspect that they will drop the prices this week to try and attract a
bigger crowd and that should ensure a larger walk up crowd on Friday
evening after work.

I imagine there to be some really desperate activity at Molineux at the moment.
I'll predict one big signing before the end of the week (Doyle), and hopefully
the Serbian work permit problem sorted. With one or two more before they leave
for Perth.

I think we have to remember that most of our recent signings have been players
that have not been mentioned in the press prior to signing, so all these names
are pure speculation.

Its certainly a blow when someone we think is a target has apparently signed
for a rival club, but we do not know for sure that he in fact was/Is a target
in the first place (If you know what I mean?)

I'm sure the legendary Pakeman could quote from a number of sources why is or
is not sure a certain player is/was a target but I couldn't be arsed to do the
research.

BREAKING NEWS: City land Fortune!

By CI Reporter - 24/06/2009 01:05

It appears that Hull City have won the race ahead of a clutch of English and
Scottish Premier League clubs to sign French striker Marc-Antoine Fortune...

Sources close to City Independent believe Hull City have won the race to sign
AS Nancy striker Marc-Antoine Fortune and the forward is set to complete a
brand new deal with the Tigers within the next 24 hours.

City had been facing stiff opposition for the centre forward from Fulham,
Wolverhampton Wanderes, Glasgow Celtic and Portsmouth, but reports are now
indicating that Phil Brown has captured the former West Bromwich Albion loanee
and the striker will become Hull City's first signing of the summer.

Fortune impressed last season in the Premier League when scoring 5 times for
beleaguered West Bromwich Albion in 17 appearances, after making his debut on
17th January for the Baggies in a home match against Middlesbrough, which
Fortune scored to record a 3-1 victory.

Now, City Independent expect reports to break later today confirming
Marc-Antoine Fortune will complete his switch to Hull City instead of the other
interested parties by signing a 3 year deal worth £25,000 a week.

Well that's another one off the radar, and when Doyle signs for Fulham, and
Milijas fails to get his work permit, we will be welcoming the same squad as
last year plus a journeyman keeper

Funny, I thought we were armed with millions and were going to make a right
good go of staying up this year...PAH!

This is 2003 all over again, we can't hope to compete without major
re-structuring of the team. Our defence is a colander , and will result in
immediate relegation

All of the latest transfer rumours were sweet talk at the same time as season
tickets went on general sale

Typical Wolves , talk the talk, but can't walk the walk

At this rate, we will make Derby's 11 points look creditable

Even the bloody hotel is surrounded by building works , and we are double
booked when we get there

That's if Qantas don't cancel the flights in the first place

Happy days

PS I bet it pisses down on Friday night at the game ( I presume there is no
cover?)

Would love him to play for Wolves but sounds like there's no chance based on

2009/6/3 Marcus Chantry marcus.chan...@macquarie.com

BOLTON want to give Paul Scholes a final season of first-team football.

Scholes is ready to leave Manchester United in search of one last
campaign after spending much of this term on the sidelines.
The midfield maestro has grown sick of being a bit-part player at Old
Trafford this season and feels it is affecting his form.

Now neighbours Bolton want him to be the central figure in their side
by making him the highest-paid player at the club.
Scholes, 34, signed a one-year extension to his contract this season.
But it is unlikely United would demand any sort of transfer fee if the
player asked to leave.
The Trotters would be prepared to match his wages of around £70,000 a
week. It is understood Scholes would not drive a hard bargain as he is just
looking to play one last season of regular football.
Stoke are also interested in making Scholes a player-coach.
But Scholes has made only the initial steps into getting his coaching
badges.
Also he would not fancy the three-hour round trip to Stoke from his
home in Saddleworth every day.
Bolton's training ground is less than half an hour from his house.

Scholes has started only a third of United's games this season and was
once again on the bench for Wednesday's Champions League final defeat against
Barcelona.

just a quick update so everyone knows, we now have only 3 tickets left

Also, someone kindly deposited their ticket money into my account on
Saturday but put 'Chantry' in the payment description rather their own

themselves so I can cross you off my list.

Hi folks,

Firstly, congratulations on your promotion to the glitzy, plastic league. I
personally hope you will hang around longer this time - you deserve it.

I am on this distribution list as I am on old friend of Marcus Chantry.
However, I should point out that I am a Pompey fan and have also seen a number
of Glory games over the years. I was originally going to be sitting with you
lot but have advised Marcus that I will free up my seat for one of the other
Wolves fans. I will be at the game though.

However, in the interests of maintaining good relationships with the proper
fans of proper teams (i.e. our respective replica shirts are not available at
K-Mart); I am more than happy to field any queries about your trip to Perth. I
live 10 minutes walk from the ground and know the local pubs, hotels and
nightlife areas pretty well. Of course, you probably have thousands of Wolves
fans here in Perth to give you some advice, but just in case, here are some
initial tips:

* Be careful in Northbridge - at night it can make Kings Cross seem
like Double Bay! If you must venture in there, the best pubs are the Elephant
and Wheelbarrow in Lake Street (though no football shirts allowed) or Rosie
O'Grady's (typical Irish theme pub) in James Street. At a stretch, try the
Brass Monkey on the corner of William and James Street. Pretty safe when
inside.

* Of the pubs nearest the ground, the Brisbane is very up-market
(Australian Pub of the Year a couple of times in its 5 year post-renovation
phase) and will probably not allow football shirts in. The Queens has a
slightly more relaxed dress code but is still a great pub. The Flying Scotsman
is grungy, friendly and Friday night is lesbian night (!). All three of these
are in Beaufort Street, Highgate/Mount Lawley. The Hyde Park Hotel on the
corner of Fitzgerald and Bulwer Street, North Perth is the home of the Glory
Shed Boys. The Hotel Northbridge (on the fringe of the dodgy bit) in Brisbane
Street is probably your best bet and is about a 10 minute walk to the ground
(it also has accommodation).

* Slightly further afield, there are some nice restaurants and pubs in
East Perth, on the new canal development. The Royal (60 Royal Street) is right
on the water and serves reasonable pub grub. It's a good 25 min walk to the
ground.

* In the City, your best bets are The Moon and Sixpence in Hay Street
and Bobby Dazzlers next door. A bit further up (West) are Carnegie's and the
Belgian Beer Café - but both will be packed on a Friday night with the office
crowd

* A good curry (and I know that's almost your national dish in the
Black Country) can be found at Gogo's in Beaufort Street, just up from the
Queens (see above).

* Overall, the best areas to spend your evenings in close to the City
are Highgate/Mount Lawley, Leederville and Subiaco. At a stretch Mount
Hawthorn.

I should point out that I am a member of Pompey Down Under (PDU), the
official Pompey supporters club for Australia, which has its HQ in Perth. We
have our meeting this Wednesday and I was wondering whether you would like me
to mention your impending invasion. Nothing unsavory - just a chance to catch
up for a few beers at our club venue or to arrange a social football match. We
did it with the Cardiff guys before the Cup Final last year (ah, memories).

Have a great trip and please don't be upset at Marcus for letting a potential
enemy into your social circle.

Regards,

Peter Marchant
PUP-PPU

P.S. Fulham will be here as well. I may well send a similar e-mail to both of
their fans!!!

I though the Friday night at Flying Scotsman sounded more interesting :-)

A good curry ? Is this the tempered, watered down, Aussie wuss version? Or the
full monty ?

Belgian Beer Café in Brisbane serves Hoegaarden beer , draught, in 750ml
glasses, I presume this would do the same?

I'm with Lee, the Glory pub has to be the go !

Cheers

Darrell

It's great though, because as fans the who are you going to sue?
question can be put to them and there's no response. I've been baiting
a Blades mate of mine on Facebook and there is just no retort.
Hopefully that will live with them for years

Sadly, I think the Tevez legal action was the first leak in the dyke.
It seems inevitable that more legal action will be taken as decisions
become more important. Suppose Reading had got second place this year.
There would have been serious thought about the goal that never was at
Watford.

BTW, did anyone see Sir Alex's face when the Newcastle result came
through? He looked like he'd won back to back trebles.

And did anyone see the sign held up by the Villa fans?

Who's your next Messiah? Ant or Dec?

I think it might be Sunderland, although I'd like it to be
Newcastle. Hull might pull off a win against a Man U side saving
themselves, and Chelsea will be playing for pride. Villa will also be
playing for pride and give Newcastle a hard run.

For Wolves, I'd rather play Sunderland and Hull next year as

far West Brom are gone and looks like Boro are sure to join them.

The final spot is between Newcastle, Hull and Sunderland.

Newcastle have the easier game against Villa whilst Hull play
Man u, and Sunderland Chelsea.

Unless we get an upset result Newcastle may escape the drop at
the expense of Hull.

I'll go for Hull to upset Man U.

the rumour was about Nicky Butt, not Paul Scholes. I would move back to
England for 12 months just to see Scholesy run around in a Wolves shirt.
The guy is still class even though he's getting on a bit. If we could
get a defensive midfielder in as well then Scholes could pull the
creative strings for us.

However, the chances of us getting Scholes or anyone of that quality are
somewhere between zero and f-all.

Subject: [NSWolves] IMPORTANT UPDATE - Perth

Good afternoon everyone,

further to Lee's innocuous question yesterday about whether the Wolves
Travel Club price was based on per person or per room, I have now had
confirmation back from them that their price is quoted per person on a
twin-share basis. This is not what I had originally assumed.

Furthermore, they have quoted a price of $800 if people want their own
individual room. This now makes their package price significantly more
expensive than if we book directly with the hotel.

I figured nobody would be interested at that inflated price so I took an
executive decision and contacted the Citigate Hotel, where the Wolves
Travel Club are staying, and have reserved 10 rooms for the nights of
9th/10th/11th July at a rate of $175 per night = $525 total for 3
nights. If anyone would like one of these rooms then please let me know
and I'll put you down for one (I currently have myself, Les Lloyd, Lee
Morris, Mark Worrall and Darrell Yates down for rooms so there are 5
left). Also, if anyone wants to share a room please also let me know.
If anyone wants a room for 2 nights or for more than 3 nights please
also let me know and I'll try and get something sorted for you.

I will obtain match tickets for everyone via Perth Glory, who I spoke to
again this morning.

I think it would be good if we could all stay in the same hotel, plus
have all the Wolves Travel Club contingent there as well. I have
reserved the rooms on my Credit Card so no payment will have to be made
just yet.

Have a good weekend everyone and lets hope we get the right result.

Cheers

Marcus Chantry

Ok, I have just spoken to Perth Glory and have been given the contact
details for a lady who is looking after the proposed Wolves visit. From
the discussion I had with the head of their Media Marketing, it sounds
like they are getting organised early and they have already fielded
calls from UK supporter clubs wanting tickets etc. They said the
interest has been fantastic and that on current plans Wolves are going
to be there for approximately 12 days and they are hoping to run
supporter days, meet the players, dinners etc. and are also considering
putting together a package of events for people travelling long
distances to get there (including East Coast). At this stage they are
looking at having the Glory match on or around the 10th July.

I am happy to start putting together a list of people who are interested
in travelling over so let me know if you are a definite, maybe, or no
show. Please send it on to anyone else who might be interested.

Cheers,

Marcus Chantry

[NSWolves] The Run in [sec=unclassified]

2009-04-05 Thread Morris, Lee SGT
Just looking at the table, looks like it will take a monumental collapse
for us to blow it now, particularly if we beat Brum in the morning.

The focus has turned to Sheff Utd but they have their work cut out, a
draw between Sheff Utd and Reading mid week will just about clinch it
for us. Cardiff have blown it, now let the others self destruct.

Therefore, even if things go bad against Brum we still have 5 games to

A win against Brum and the finishing line is in sight! I'm going for a 3

Perth in July the way he performs in a Wolves shirt!!

Yes, just as we discovered they wouldnt be able to handle
through ball to Wayne, and he slotted the first one away, he injured his
knee and it went back to being a 50-50 match. We lost 3-2 in the end.

Our 2nd was scored by a girl who came on in the 2nd half and
looked about 12 years old. She was pretty good.

I can empathise Steve, my legs were stiffening yesterday, and
today are worse and I'm hobbling around like a 90yr old.

Im sure Paul will be posting a full match report ;-)

My expectation of my fitness and my actual fitness were
completely mismatched. My hamstrings are now so tight I can barely
stand up straight.

Looking back with a couple of days to shield me from the
agony I enjoyed it, but I know after the match I wasn't so keen.

I don't have a problem waiting til next Tues for
the Brum game...

... but where's the chat following the huge
NSWolves match? What happened? Too many injuries for anyone to get to
work?

My point is that given the messages that get sent on this board and the
general gloominess of Wolves fans I doubt whether we'd be thinking that
if we were in that position.

We've been top for six months and still no one has faith that we'll do
it automatically. Therefore, I don't see how we'd be thinking we would
do it if we were several points off the top with tough games ahead.
Would you honestly if we were in Sheffield's place Lee?

2009/3/24 Morris, Lee SGT lee.mor...@defence.gov.au

If I were a Sheff Utd fan I'd be hoping Wolves draw with Brum,
etc, etc. I'd certainly be looking for that last auto spot, its wide
open between Reading, Brum and I would now include Sheff Utd rather than
Cardiff in the mix.

My concern is that if Sheffield Utd don't get auto promotion
then they'll sue everyone else in the league that took points off them.

Seriously though, they are eight points behind us even if they
win the game in hand. If they win all seven games then we'll need four
wins from six but I can't see them getting 21 from seven. They've got
to play Burnley, Swansea, Ipswich and Reading too, with only Swansea at
home.

If I were a Sheffield United fan now I'd be more worried about
missing out on the playoffs than I would be hoping for auto promotion.
I think that's how we'd feel if Wolves were in that position right now

2009/3/24 Morris, Lee SGT lee.mor...@defence.gov.au

Are going to have a big say in this years automatic
promotion spots, with games in hand, plus they have to play fellow
promotion chasers, it could work in our favour having already taken
points off Cardiff they could do the same to others.

The worry is that if we loose a couple while they keep
winning, they will become The Biggest Threat, I'm sure Reading and Brum
are already looking over their shoulders.

Did anyone see the article about Wolves pre season tour? Australia being
considered, now wouldn't that be good?
