hey Tom! when you installed Switch for the first time? did you ever got in to the controll panel, and add/remove programs, then got to the switch, then clicked uninstall? well if not, if you do that again, you will find a list of radio buttons which will say, uninstall, downgrade to the free version or don't uninstall, I think it's like that, but, anyway, I just did that when I installed switch for the first time, cause I didn't wanna have that trial running out dialog, and I downgraded to the free version and once you've done that, it will be useful and no dialog will appear. hope this helps. Hello tom! well, I have been in to this before my self, so once I was tired of that kind of trial expention. but one friend of mine told me that once you have installed the Switch converter, you can also go in to the controll panel, go to add and remove programs, go to the Switch program aplication, then uninstall. when you're in that uninstall option, you have 2 choices, the first one is uninstall, and the second one is downgrade to the free version, this means that youdon't have to be worry about the trialversion anymore, and you can use it as long as you like. hope this helps. Re: Recording What you Hear in Windows 7?
Hi chris! I have often wondered how that feature works in total recorder, I have that program my self, but I haven't for the life of me never figured that out how that can imitate the what you hear feature. when I try to select a sound card just for a small recording, I can see stereo mix there, is that what realtech call the what you hear feature? also, another thing which anoys me, it's when I'm in the control panel, and go in to the sounds/sound devices, when I go in to the properties of recording, I see some checkboxes and I can see if they're on or off by check or unchecking them. but I don't know which one I can check or uncheck, cause there's no lable on them such as Stereo mix, microphone, etc. how do I know which one I'd like to check or uncheck then? for example, I don't know exactly if I am turning on or off the stereo mix or not. that's the only problem I can see there in the control panel and recording properties on my built in sound card which is a real tech HD audio,By the way, it's on my laptop, *smile*. Hello there Sam! I have tried that program out now, it's quite Ok and what I love of this program, is that you can even tagg your files so that you can play them on the radio with good title streaming. one thing I don't understand is this, In the mp3 settings, I saw something called Misc CRC checkbox, what is that?, another thing I miss is that joint stereo format of stereo, cause I have compared the Switch sound converter with the meow mmsound converter. and I think the encoder in switch sounds a little bit better than the meow programs encoder, but I like the program, and I will work with it more when I get time to it. another thing I'd like to know is this, I have seen some buttons which weren't labled at all, even though I did the auto graphic labeling, smile. Hi mario! yes, it can be very useful, for instans, my new mixer has it's own pre listening knob, which I can turn on to hear my jaws if I should use headphones while doing a live broadcasting. in fact, I might fix some more cables to this mixer to connect my laptop to it, so that I don't have to use so much speakers. And in the process of this, I'm also try to put away allot of misconceptions and myths about it. In 1986, the USB port was developed to transmit and receive digital information or if you will, data from the computer to other digital devices such as, printers scanners and fax machines. All of these devices usually have their own power supplies. Even though, 1.5 volts is needed to open up the data ports that are built in to the devices, the devices themselves, aren't powered by the USB ports. These days, the USB ports are used to open up the data ports on memory chips that are built in to storage devices such as, thumb drives external hard drives and MP3 players and IPods. As I said in an earlier post, your lab top and desk top computers have 12 volt power supplies powering them. In some electronic equipment, there are power/currant limiting resisters to reduce the voltage to what the engineer desires. But inside your computers, there is a chip that does a triple job. This chip cuts the high voltage down to what the storage devices can handle which is, 1.5 volts in to 135 MA. This chip also handles the transmitting and the receiving of data. This is why we're able to transfer audio/video files to our MP3 players and IPods. The same thing is also true about transferring pictures from digital cameras to our computers. The USB port was never mint to power devices alone. But in order to make the USB port a viable power supply, a couple of changes will have to be made. First, the voltage will have to be razed from 1.5 volts to pretty close to what the computers power supply is delivering. Next, the currant will have to be razed from 135 MA to about 1500 MA. But if we do this, the storage devices will overload and burn out. unless, you increase their capacity too as well. I hope I clarified the way your USB ports work. My best regards. John. Jonathan Mosen and Brian Hartgen have developed The Mushroom FM Fun guys Guide to Internet Broadcasting. This is an audio tutorial that will help get you up and running. The tutorial runs for 3 hours 20 minutes, and covers things like: A detailed look at StationPlaylist Studio that shows how to set up and run this software in an Internet broadcast situation. You'll learn about the benefits of using a mixer, how to cope with requests, how to use cart machines and more. A look at options for getting your broadcast to the Internet, including using facilities within StationPlaylist Studio, using free Winamp tools, or the optional StationPlaylist Streamer. Using the Sam Encoders with soon to be released JAWS scripts to optimise your streaming experience. A session where you hear all the tools we've discussed in action as an actual radio show goes to air. A brief overview of StationPlaylist Creator and how it can be used to make live Internet broadcasting easier. The tutorial is available for free download in two formats. The DAISY version can be played using DAISY playback software on your PC, such as the free FSReader that is included with JAWS 11 and above. It can also be played on portable devices such as the Victor Reader Stream, Book Sense, Plextalk Pocket and Bookport Plus. The DAISY file is a little bigger to download, however the DAISY navigation makes moving between sections of the tutorial very easy. The MP3 version of the tutorial can be played on your PC or any MP3 capable device. Both tutorial files have identical content, they are only different formats. Both downloads are zip files. You can extract them using the built-in zip support in Windows. To get this free Internet broadcasting tutorial, just head on over to http://www.MushroomFM.com blocked::http://www.mushroomfm.com/ and choose the Become a Presenter link. We hope you find it helpful. Over the years I've met, or been in correspondence with, people who love the idea of getting into Internet radio as a broadcaster, but who really don't know where or how to get started. In the short and very successful period Mushroom FM has been around, we've been approached by a number of people who would make fantastic team members, if they could unravel the technical mysteries of how to make Internet radio magic. In talking about this issue with Brian Hartgen, who is Operations Manager at Mushroom FM, we decided to create an audio tutorial that we could give to people who approached us about being part of the team, but didn't know where to start. And so the work began, with us dividing the work roughly in half for us to complete outside of our day job time. Now that the project is near completion, we realise that what we have created is a resource for which there has been considerable demand for some years within the blind community. So we have decided to donate this work, and make the tutorial available for free to anyone who wants to know a bit about Internet broadcasting. We hope many people will benefit from it, and that if you, like us, get bitten by the Internet radio bug, you'll approach Mushroom FM, the people taking voluntary Internet broadcasting to the next level with our innovations, quality output, and high standards. With over three hours of audio content, The Mushroom FM Fun Guys Guide to Internet Broadcasting will be released soon as a DAISY audio book, able to be played with software DAISY players, as well as portable devices capable of DAISY playback. This will make it easy for you to listen on whatever player suits you, while you follow along on your PC. Hello! Well when it's saying 0 tracks, that means that you don't have a CD in your CD drive. first, insert the actual CD you want to rip, then, start CDEx, once the program has started, the program will detect that you have a CD in your drive, then it will tell you if there are tracks on your CD. and it says like this. Audio Track 01 or something like that. I would like you to try and just experiment with the program, and if you need any help, just feel free to ask. Regards, Jörgen Hansson! Re: Record vinyl to computer .
Hey donald! Well, a mixer can be perfect, just make sure that the actual mixer has a pre-amp for recordplayers built in. if not, well, then it can be a little dificult to do such things, like record into the computer. but, I have recorded directly in to the line in from my old amplifire also, with no problem at all, but if you like to have more than one sorce, such as tape decks, record-players, CD-players etc, then amixer would be perfect for this. one important note here,is make sure that your mixer has good quality with a very low noise floor, well, this means that the actual noise of the mixer,is low enough, so that you don't get alot of hiss during the actual recording. my old DJ mixer is humming alot. Re: streaming music
Hi rob! Well, duckstream is not like winamp or real player. Duckstream is just a program which helps you stream the music from winamp, WMP or realplayer to a spesific server you have set up the actual program for. For example, let's say that you have started a little radio station, then you set up Duckstream to your own server with the server name, server port, password and mp3 setting etc. this program has also an archive function which lets you do a recording of your show and if the connection should brake up, the archive function is still going, and you can even set your own compression, if you want some smoothness into the stream it self. you can also stream om an shoutcast server or icecast server, depends on how you have set up the actual server. the sound which you're streaming from, should be coming through your sound card which your player program is assosiated to. hope this helps. Re: streaming music
Hi rob! yes, that's absolutely correct. I am using duckstream when I'm doing my shows on ACB Radio Interactive. and this little character, you can put an O on my name it doesn't matter. I don't know how to fix this character there, but maybe you can do this, above the apostrofy key there's a key which makes the umlaut character. All you need to do is just experiment with it in different ways. Regards, Jörgen Hansson! If I understand the concept correctly, I could use Duckstream to stream and archive my program content to a Live365 or ACBRadio or The Global Voice host server if I have a station or a gig on one of those online stations. Do I have it right? BTW, I'm sorry I didn't include the umlaut marking in your first name because that character is not in the JFW extended character script. a question about joint stereo and normal stereo
Hi all! I have a question which is making me curious. when I'm converting wave to mp3 in a convertion program or so, I can see something called joint stereo, and I can also choose if I would like to have it in joint stereo or just stereo. my question is, what's the difference between joint stereo and stereo, I can't seem to hear any difference at all there. Regular stereo, is having those same pare of speakers hooked up to a stereo amplifier. The joint stereo, gives better stereo channel separation then the regular stereo. Hope this helps. Re: digital recorders
Hey there! I'm just wondering what pocket recorder are you all talking about? Well, I have heard very much of the Olympus DM520 and such, but what is that pocket rugged? Just curious. Actually, I haven't seen the olympus DM520 model, but I have seen the olympus DLS10, that's an Ok recorder, but if you don't want to have menus which don't wrap, maybe the Edirol r09 or r09hr works great for good recordings. I have compared the r09 and r09hr, and to my surprise, the hr model sounds much better and it's builtin mike pre-amps noise is much less than the original r09 model. Regards, Jörgen Hansson! Though it isn't semi-pro in its recording capabilities. I am interested, though, Have you personally used and compared both machines? I agree that the audio quality on the Pocket, if you add external mics may be superior, but it is much much larger than the Olympus and its in-built mike capabilities I think are inferior to the Olympus. As an all-rounder player and recorder, the Pocket has much to offer, but it is less convenient for quick recording tasks. the Olympus comes in to its own as a 'take-anywhere' real pocket-sized recorder, with excellent balance of features and quality for high-quality voice capture.
