RE: Station Playlist add-on for NvDA: 1.0 public beta 1 is now available

2013-12-21 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi Joseph.

The app for NVDA sounds good, but I have a question about it. I have used
both JAWS and Window-Eyes to work with Studio. In each of these, when you
checked the scheduled time a track would start, they reported the actual
time a track would start, instead of reporting the track starting so far
after the hour. For example, Let's say track 2 in the playlist starts 2
minutes after the hour. If I did a two minute and thirty second voice
break, then resumed playback from that point, Window-Eyes and JAWS would
report the correct time of 4 minutes and 30 seconds. The NVDA app still
reported the track starting two minutes after the hour. All other tracks in
JAWS and Window-Eyes would properly report all the track start times after
this track would play. This came in handy to schedule the end of a show, or
the start of the next hour. I hope the app for NVDA works in this case like
the other screen readers I've used. I like to have as many options
available as I can.

Thanks for doing the work on the app for NVDA.

That thing is only for recording voice intro/outtro tracks. The option
which was previously mentioned is found in the Station Playlist Studio
main window under the Output tab, Recording subtab. However, and I may
be mistaken in this, this option may only be available with the Pro
license.

An equally good way to get the job done is to fake connecting to a
broadcast server with the plugin and DSP of your choice. The way you
fake it is to set the reconnect time high so you don't keep trying to
do it every two seconds, then plug in a fake accress, preferably one
that doesn't translate to anything real. Best way to do that is to
either make it blank or put an exclamation point in front of whatever
you have set up that's otherwise valid. In this way, you can use your
favorite compresser/limiter plugin and have it applied to the audio in
the MP3. Saves you a step later. Only thing you'll have to do is trim
the beginning because the archive file gets created immediately, then
you start playing your program into it.

2013-10-10 Thread Humberto Rodriguez
Hello Larry:

SPL works on hourly playlists which you may create by hand or whose
automation you may achieve using another software they offer called Creator.
You can include spots, time whether, etc and you can use quick keys to
insert short messages, such as station or program identification, etc.

You could talk over whatever is playing by merely pressing a key. If you do
your program live to a few stations, you can encode the signal and stream it
to the servers simultaneously, while at the same time, you record what you
are transmitting.

If you merely want to record your program and edit the audio, adding to it
everything else you need, it is an overkill. In that case you could record
with any number of programs, like Total Recorder, Soundforge, Gold Wave,
Audacity, or digital recorders, later edit it with another large number of
programs, such as Total Recorder, Soundforge, Gold Wave or Audacity, and
finally, upload it to as many stations you want, using FTP or SFTP.

It is best used for either a disk jockey at a bar or party, or to manage an

Hi listers. Wonder if somebody can advise please.

I've got a problem where I'm getting a pop/click noise when I press
play on a track, and I've got at least one track which starts very
quietly and the first few seconds are not being played (the clock
shows that it's playing from 00:00, but it's cutting off the first bar
where the song fades up). I've been recording practice shows, and the
click is also audible on the archives of my recordings. It's been
suggested to me that this might be a problem with my cross fading
settings, but if so I don't know how to fix it, and if not then I
don't have a clue what the problem is. My current settings are:

Automatic cross fading: yes
Cross fader cue at: minus 30
Cross fader segue at: minus 14
Cross fader DB: minus 8
First cross fader box: 2.5
Second cross fader box: 10.0
Cross fade spots: yes
Cross fade voice tracks: no

If anyone can advise on how to fix this I'd be very grateful.

Many thanks, Danny

Ok, cool. Part of my question to you arose from the fact that I have the
mixer being recorded by goldwave and in goldwave when you hit the record
command control f9, the input source options come up giving you choices
ranging from the name of the sound card being used to something called
input. I usually choose input and that records the mixer and the mics but
the compression doesn't work with the mics as it does with the station
playlist tracks which are coming into that same mixer.

1. Are you using both Studio and Creator?

2. If you are using both, do you understand the basic concepts of
Creator--categories, spot groups, rotations, schedules, etc., and what

3. In Studio, are you intending to use it as an Internet broadcasting

following the start in order for it to work.

Yes I am. But still no joy.
I play one track, make sure the next track is unchecked, and it stops at the
end but no Jaws warning. Does not matter if I have the PC focused on Studio
or not.
Does Jaws get the time for this announcement from the screen where it
displays the remaining time. If so it should work, as that time is displayed
there and accessible via
alt control T.
I just unloaded all other programs running such as Replay AV and File Dir,
and flashget (A downloader) to see if that made a difference. I played the
first track and it told me I was approching the end but it went off at 1 min
30 seconds before the end instead of the 15 seconds set. Then I tried it on
other tracks and it did not work at all.
This playlist I have been using is a .m3u I have created in Winamp and
loaded into Studio. I am now going to try creating a playlist from Studio to
see if that makes a difference.

Re: Station Playlist

2009-06-14 Thread Keith Gillard

**I look forward to your results as I am just starting to demo this software
now that the scripts have been created.

I just created a small playlist and it does work on this occassion. so maybe
the .m3u I had used to test with was somehow screwy. I will do more tests of
imported playlists.

Re: Station Playlist

2009-06-14 Thread Brian Hartgen
Please try just loading the tracks into Studio itself, that's how I have been
testing, not that that should make a difference.
If it still doesn't work, I could later in the week create a little test script
to see if it works. Which jaws version are you using please and I assume you
followed the installation directions to modify the default scripts?

Re: Station Playlist, revisited

2008-11-04 Thread James Scholes
Hi Quinten,
Regarding your second question, on your network, why not setup a network drive?
To do this, go into my computer, select the tools menu, and then select map
network drive. Press shift tab and in the combo box select the drive letter you
want, then in the edit field, type the path to the folder on the other PC that
you want to map. For example: If the other computer is called test1, and you
want to map the audio folder, you would type
\\test1\audio
If you did this, you could add files from the other machine to your playlist,
just as if they were on your own PC.

Hi James
Thanks for your suggestion.
I forgot to mention that the other pc, the one to which the audio is being
streamed, is linked to the network via a digital link, because that pc is
not in the same building as the rest of the computers.
Would this affect what you suggested, or not really?

Shift+insert is the command to insert tracks. Depending on your screen
reader and the way you have it configured, you may need to use its bypass
key before using this command. You can define, via the settings, folders to
search and insertion is extremely fast. There is no need to have anything to
do with hour markers just to insert tracks, in fact doing so can be
downright dangerous depending on your configuration.

Hi Quinten.

You can do what you want with Station Playlist.

To move items in a playlist, select the item you want to move and hit CTRL-X
to cut it. Then move the cursor to where you want to move the track and hit
CTRL-V. You can also delete tracks. Select the track you want to delete
and hit SHIFT-DEL.

As for inserting items into a playlist, I know Station Playlist can do this,
but I don't know how to do it within the program. You can copy items in
Windows Explorer and add them to the playlist. Here's how to do it.

Open Windows Explorer and find the item you want to add. Copy it to the
clipboard with CTRL-C. Then go to Station Playlist and select where you
want the track inserted. Then hit ALT-P to paste it in.

Hope this is useful.

Greetings all

This week I started working at a local radio station here in town, and they
use Station Playlist Studio.

Since the demo I have of it, expired, I just would like 2 small questions
answered, if possible please:

First, is it possible to move, or drag songs up and down in a playlist once
it is loaded, (similar to how you can move songs around in a playlist while
in Winamp)?
And if possible, what is the key command one should use to do this?

Second: While in SPL, is it possible to search and load a song into the
playlist if it isn't there automatically?
If so, again, what are the keyboard commands to be used?

Thanks for any and all help, it is much appreciated.

RE: Station Playlist Studio: 2 questions

2008-09-19 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi Orhan, all you need to do is arrow to the track you want the song
inserted before, and insert. I've been using StationPlaylist Studio for six
years and this works for me every time. Hour markers in Studio have a very
specific purpose and they have nothing to do with insertion.

Hi Jonathan,
I actually disagree in one respect about hour markers. Unless I am mistaken,
when you are playing a track in station playlist, and you try to insert a
track just at the last minute, it will go above the track you are playing.
This is why I use the hour marker, and all tracks can go above that. This is
very helpful when taking immidiate requests etc.

Best regards,
Orhan.

Hi Quinten,
I can answer your first question. You can select songs, and cut and paste them
using windows commands. However, there is an annoyance with SPL studio. If you
decide at the last minute you want to insert a track, it will go above the
track you are playing. So, to combat this, you insert an hour marker by
pressing Control plus H, and insert it above the hour marker. Now if you are
using creator alongside studio and hour markers are not ignored, you could run
in to problems, but don't quote me on that.

RE: Station Playlist Studio: 2 questions

2008-09-18 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi. I have a couple more questions to add to the other questions
already asked here.
Firstly, I've mastered adding tracks into a playlist, but the
crossfading that SPL does is a bit too fast for my liking. I would
like for spl to fade out a song a bit more slowly so that you can
hear the actual fade, instead of the next song just coming in and
completely oblitterating the previous song. The last song's fade
hasn't even happened yet and already the next song is just coming right on.

Secondly I've done some tests, and for some reason, my music can be
heard, but not my voice breaks. I have everything set the way it
should be set, the device it sees is my sound card, and all the combo
boxes under the mic input tab are set to microphonee. Yet when I
talk, I can hear myself, but nobody else can. So if I could just get
past these 2 problems and tweak things a bit I'd be sold!

Hope one of you guys can help here.

RE: Station Playlist Studio: a final question

2008-09-18 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi Quinten.

I use speech to access the screen, so what I say may be different if you use
your eyes to look at the screen.

At the bottom of the screen you'll find the time that Station Playlist has
been running. Above this line is the elapsed time of the song and the
remaining time.

Hope this helps.

Re: Station Playlist Studio question.

2008-09-03 Thread Steve Matzura
Although this does loosely have to do with audio on the PC, your
question would get much better and qualified answers on the Station
Playlist support list ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). The
short answer to all your questions is yes, very doable all around.
There are reasons for what you are experiencing, and ways around those
problems.

Hi all,
I am trying out Station Playlist Studio. One question though, well, actually
two: When I faid down music using the M key, and then speak into the
microphone, the output I hear in my headphones is a few seconds behind. So,
for instance if I say Hello, I hear that Hello about a second later, or it
maybe a couple of seconds, I'm not sure. Also, how can I change the faid level
on the microphone? So when I press the M key, can I change the settings for
the faid that occurs?

The easiest program is still Winamp, and, thankfully, it's still free.
The only thing Station Playlist does for you that Winamp doesn't is
offer you a very nice but expensive wrapper around very basic
functions. If you are happy enough with picking your own music,
managing your own collection, etc., then stick with what you know. As
much as I love wiz-bang feature-rich software, I advocate the KISS
principle.

Hello List!

I've been searching for an easy-to-use DJ program and someone recommended
StationPlaylist Studio/Editor/Streamer. From the
documentation, it appears to be an easy program to navigate around; however, in
reality, it has a lot of functions available and
setting it up is a tough thing for me. If anyone uses this program and knows
of a tutorial or example of how to set it up and
use, I'd appreciate having it sent to me or if that person could tell me where
to get it. I'm actually looking for the easiest
program to use possible. I want talking and playing music to be relatively
easy to do. I'm using their demo pro version now for
thirty days.

Not at all, considering what it's primarily supposed to be used
for--scheduling and playing tracks and spots on a schedule. The key
word here being ... uh, ... lemme see ... oh yeah, ***SCHEDULE***, not
random. Playlists in SP consist of objects which cannot be shuffled

I have 1 question though, suppose you've added a whole heap of songs

Re: Station playlist questions

2007-08-03 Thread Steve Matzura
The problem with Shift+INSERT and JAWS is that JAWS kind of takes over
the INSERT key. You have to press INSERT+3, pass key through, to get
the Shift+INSERT key combination to work.

The other problem you mention I have no solution for, but I'll add
this: In JAWS, the items in the list box are numbered in reverse
orver, bottom to top, and in Window-Eyes, they are number one column
even numbers, the other odd numbered items. Figure that!

Hi! I'm currently looking at various broadcasting tools, and I've heard
that Station Playlist is very accessible. I downloaded a demo of Creator,
and it was somewhat friendly. However, I noticed that when I was creating a
playlist, it wouldn't show me all of my sub-folders within my music folder
after I had selected a tune. It would default to whatever sub-folder I had
selected, and no matter what I did, it wouldn't let me see any of the other
ones. Do I need Jaws scripts to use it well? And is the Studio software
accessible? My guess is that I probably don't necessarily need that, since
I'm using Winamp. May not need Creator either, but I thought it might be
helpful, since it keeps track of the time for you. I don't have an entire
station, just a 2-hour show which will start as soon as I can figure out how
to fit all the pieces of the puzzle together. Smile

Re: Station Playlist on ACB RI

2007-01-14 Thread Chris Skarstad
At 10:48 PM 1/14/2007, you asked:

how can I get it? You have to purchase it from:

  http://www.stationplaylist.com

do I need jaws scrips?
if so how much do the scrips cost, and how much does the program cost?
No JAWS scripts are necessary to use station playlist studio.
The program costs about $100, depending on which version you want.
you probably want standard since you won't be running a station full time.

what is the learning curb? easy to use or hard
Well, now that's subjective, isn't it.
What may be easy for me, may be hard for you, I mean we all have
different abilities.
so the best advice I can give you is to download the demo and give
it a shot for yourself. That's the only way you'll ever know if it's
easy or hard.

It's actually really easy to find the tabs.
You know when you're on the mainc screen and you arrod to the right and left
it says spot groups tab, atagories tab, ETC?
It's saying graphic before any one of those.
Thoughts?

Mate,

It might be a good idea to read your jfw help. If you did you'd realise
that all you have to do to turn graphics announcement off is to go to config
manager and then graphics settings and then change graphics verbosity to
labelled or none. As an alternative and if you don't want these changes
permanent you could use the insert+v to bring up the adjust Jaws verbosity
list box and change the graphics verbosity from there.

Well, you don't--not fully, anyway. He's still got Winamp Light in

Lots of folks on the SP mailing list have reported great success just

exception of changing something in the configuration regarding the way
the microphone and line-in are handled in live assist mode.

Make sure you've checked the plugin you want, before trying to configure
 it.
Seems fairly obvious, but I can see where something like what you describe
might happen if you haven't actually selected a plugin. Having said that,
there seem to be other problems when trying to configure either the
 Tomass'
limiter or Sound Solution plugins (both from the same author), where
 you're
put into the configuration section with no problem, but there doesn't
 appear
to be any way to move around from option to option--you can't tab between
them like in the Winamp-based versions of Studio, and moving between them
with the mouse keys and clicking on them doesn't do the trick either. All
the other plugins appear to work just as they did before.

Yes, StationPlaylist is 100% accessible. Turn down the volume using the
volume control utility in Windows. If you want to turn the volume of the
music down when you turn your mike on, this can be configured in Studio's
options.

Re: station playlist

2006-05-22 Thread frank deweese
jonathan: I regret to ask this question. However, I have been unable to
access the blindtech list for a few days. I don't know why. I miss the
list because I obtain good tips and information from it. How do I get back
on the list?

Yes, StationPlaylist is 100% accessible. Turn down the volume using the
volume control utility in Windows. If you want to turn the volume of the
music down when you turn your mike on, this can be configured in Studio's
 options.

The Minx, the Internet radio station that plays all the great love songs.
