Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty - the next generation Spotify implementation
One thing that I have noticed since upgrading to Spotty, is that the Don't stop the Music Settings keep getting disabled. After checking I can't reproduce this. Tried on two different systems (Mac & Linux), will check with the one in the office. But this sounds more like a DSTM issue than Spotty, anyway. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty - the next generation Spotify implementation
Another thing I will investigate is that my Pi server / player has a USB DAC attached and that may have an effect on the LAN. I have zero experience with USB DACs. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty - the next generation Spotify implementation
I'm happy to say the playback issue seems to have been fixed in the underlying librespot code - thanks a lot plietar for the great response time! v1.1.0 - new and changed: - fixed playback issue caused by some backend change on Spotify's end - add new (experimental) feature: "Transfer Playback" The new "Transfer Playback" feature allows you to transfer the playlist currently playing on your phone's Spotify app to your Squeezebox. Imagine arrive back home after listening to some music during your commute or while out running. You can now seamlessly* transfer the playlist to your Squeezebox. * Ahm... almost. Spotify's web API for this functionality is still beta - and lacking. While the transfer of a playlist should work quite ok, if you had been listening to a mix or an album, the context might be missing, therefore not be replicated correctly. Eg. transferring a mix (which is not available through their API) would only give me the currently playing mix, but no other mix or playlist ID or something. Therefore that single track would be played in the context of its album instead. Have fun! -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I have just tried an iPeng via VPN connection via 4G to the HP and it's perfect as it always was. What I didn't say because it would have confused the issue is that the iOS vpn connection is actually to my colleagues Draytek elsewhere and then there is a site to site IPSec from his network to mine. It's irrelevant as the routing is working exactly the way it should. It's like this purely because he has a Draytek capable of SSL and mine is a bit too old for that and as you will know Apple have killed pptp. I have only tried local files but with them rebuffering every few seconds I figured no point in trying Spotify. I have seen this as well as the "connecting" issue. In fact these issues and a possibly unrelated one have forced me to disable my Pi based server with Spotty and revert to my old HP server running Vortexbox with 7.9.1 and SPH As well as Spotify and DSTM issues the Pi just doesn't seem to have enough guts to let me use iPeng as a player with VPN when travelling. I think I may be asking it to do too much. I need to do more testing. I have no remote playing issues when using the old HP but Spotty won't run on its CPU as Michael knows. The VPN is router based not on the Pi itself so I don't believe it's a networking problem. IPeng will connect but will only play a few seconds before rebuffering occurs. 4G bitrate limiting is applied but I have tried via both 4G and wifi with similar results, *Vortexbox LMS 7.9 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* iThingys/iPeng/Tablets *Living Room* - SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 - > Celestion Ditton F20s - Zone 2 -> Sony TA FE 320 -> Sennheiser RS 130 & B&W P7 *Office* - RPi -> Sony TA FE320 -> Celestion F10s / SB3 -> Onkyo CRN 755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* -> SB Boom *Kitchen* -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch -> Topping TP21 -> AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - Amazon Fire TV (SB Player) -> Topping TP20 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107615 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I can skip back and forth, and it's this behaviour is consistently reproducible. All the songs played just fine yesterday. I found a problem in Beethoven Symphony No. 6 and am unsure whether it is the Spotify tracks themselves that are broken or whether there is some special handling of "attacca" in Spotify that Spotty is failing to handle. After changing the conversion from PCM to FLAC it runs smoothly. LMS is installed on an Odroid XU4 system. Is there any idea what the problem might be? What does server.log say? You could set logging for plugin.spotty to INFO (don't use debug, it's too verbose...) to get more information. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty - the next generation Spotify implementation
Hi Michael and thank you very much for your work on Spotty, which I started using yesterday evening. I found a problem in Beethoven Symphony No. 6 and am unsure whether it is the Spotify tracks themselves that are broken or whether there is some special handling of "attacca" in Spotify that Spotty is failing to handle. In classical music a movement can usually be handled as a "song" in a playlist (the work) as long as the songs in the playlist are played in the right order. Attacca is an instruction that the movements must be played flowing into each other without a break. The metadata changes as one movement flows into the next, but there should be no interruption to the sound. Movements 3-4 and 4-5 of Beethoven's symphony No. 6 are attacca. In Spotify this causes the end of movement 3 to stop, but movement 4 refuses to play at all. Movement 5 has some problems for the first few seconds but recovers and plays fine after that. You can find the tracks by searching for: Beethoven 6 - Dudamel by Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, Gustavo Dudamel "beethoven 6, dudamel" seems to be a good search. "Attacca" is a general pain in the @55 as the best case scenario is that there is an unwanted hiccupp between the tracks. It would be really great if you could find a good way to handle it (as long as there is something in the source material that indicates it). Cheers and thanks again for all the fantastic work you are putting in! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty - the next generation Spotify implementation
The Playlists are stored in "Albums". I have to use the Spotify-App Oh, you're not talking about a playlist, but an album. Yes, album tracks currently are limited to 50 tracks. Hasn't been an issue before. Can you tell me what album (or audio-book) you're seeing this? In the official Spotify app there usually is the "..." menu which has a "Teilen" item. Could you please send me the link to an example album causing problems? first. It only shows me the first track of an album. I have to click on "Album anzeigen" and then on "speichern". After that I can find the Audio Book under "Albums" in Spotty. I didn't find out how do do this without the spotify app. In spotty i only see the first tracks of an Audio Book and didn't find a way to show all the other tracks. In Spotty you could simply search for the album's name, then select Albums. Or the author/artist. My kids often search for "TKKG", then pick "Interpreten", "TKKG", then they have the full list of audio books. They could follow the artist ("Künstler folgen") to have quicker access. But they're happy with the way it is :-). -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Playlist should come with more than 50 tracks. Only search is limited to this number per result type. How are you picking them? The reason for these kinds of limitations is the fact that Spotify wouldn't return more than 50 items in one chunk. In order to get 200 items I have to send four requests. But we're limited in the number of requests we can send per minute or hour. Spotify organises them in Playlist with about 100-200 tracks. I found out that spotty has a limitation of 50 tracks that isn't changeable. Amazing! This system still gives a LOT more than anyone can expect. Thanks! Installed the plugin on my ReadyNAS RN202 without any problem. Removed the old plugins from LMS and mysb. Authorized Spotty from Spotify on my iPhone and from my wifes iPad. (Does this mean Connect is coming?) So smooth and easy. I have probably already installed SSL at some point (then installing Neorouter?). Can't remember. SB Touch to Yamaha A-S501, Boston Acoustics A26. SB 3 to Audio Pro T3. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty - the next generation Spotify implementation
I've noticed the Ogg files are transcoded to FLAC. Is that necessary or is it something I've set up at some point? librespot (https://github.com/plietar/librespot), the library doing the heavy lifting in the background, would only return PCM data to LMS. I decided to compress that data to flac for improved compatibility and its lower bandwidth usage. But you can turn it off in Settings/Advanced/File Formats if you want lowest CPU overhead on your system. Also, I've noticed that it's possible to add multiple accounts. Is it then possible to have them somehow separated in the menu structure, so that my partner and I don't mix our, errrm, disparate musical tastes by playing from my library always? If you added multiple accounts, you'd have a menu item at the bottom to pick what account to use on any given player. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty - the next generation Spotify implementation
I'm happy to announce Spotty, my next generation Spotify implementation for Squeezebox. Spotty has no dependency on mysqueezebox.com, nor player firmware, and supports all types of players. It is using the open-source librespot library (https://github.com/plietar/librespot) instead of the soon to be defunct libspotify. Once you've installed Spotty from the plugins repository, you can safely un-install all other Spotify related plugins (official plugin, Triode's 3rd party plugin, Spotify Protocol Handler), as well as remove the Spotify app from your mysqueezebox.com account. Then go to Settings/Advanced/Spotty and follow the instructions. On platforms other than Windows you should be able to authorize the plugin using your mobile or desktop Spotify application. On Windows unfortunately you'll have to enter username/password (which are NOT stored in LMS). Spotty should run on MacOS, Windows (needs MS VC 2015 runtime!), and many Linux flavors (i686, x86_64, ARM HF & SF). It's known to run perfectly well on eg. Raspberry Pi 2/3. Unfortunately many NAS devices using ARMEL CPUs won't be supported (eg. ReadyNAS Duo/NX v2, some of the cheaper Synology devices). I'm currently running it on a piCorePlayer setup on Pi3, connected to the aforementioned ReadyNAS Duo v2 - and it's so much more faster than the NAS alone, it's worth it :-). Have fun!
