[talk-ph] Governor Pineda (Pampanga) willing to support OSM for mapping other municipalities in the province
Hi, I just came back from a presentation/meeting Governor Lilia Pineda of Pampanga, Mayor Mylyn Pineda - Cayabyab of Lubao and, members of the Provincial Council of Pampanga. This is part of our Pampanga work to update the provincial government on the status of the project. Together with WorldBank and the 3 partner LGUs (Candaba, Lubao and Guagua), we presented the participatory mapping initiative (OSM and InaSAFE) in the last 6 months of last year. Governor Pineda appreciated the mapping initiative and is planning to replicate the approach to the rest of the province particularly to the flood-prone municipalities of the province. She instructed the Provincial DRRM Office to coordinate this initiative and she commited to provide instructions/directive to the specific mayors of these LGUs to facilitate the mapping. In addition, the provincial legislative board will also draft a provincial resolution to support Governor Pineda's instructions. I think this development is very significant for the OSM-PH community. While details on how to specifically implement is still at an early stage, we hope we can forge greater partnership and collaboration with government of Pampanga in the future. We will update the list on the latest development later. -- cheers, maning -- Freedom is still the most radical idea of all -N.Branden wiki: http://esambale.wikispaces.com/ blog: http://epsg4253.wordpress.com/ -- ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph

Wow that's great to hear that they appreciate the efforts, and even will support it, especially when it comes from the jueteng lord/lady, eh.. I mean governor... Kudos on your political manoeuvring, Maning. As this is my area, especially the northern part, I will aim to get more involved. Specifically, what I'd love to see is that the very people that would benefit from the maps actually maintained them. If the engineering, health, education, etc. departments in the municipalities each have people that know how to update the map, then I think the chance that things are being kept up to date is much higher. Small thing but the map they are showing doesn't include a attributation to OSM. Yes, we already informed the Project NOAH team about that. And let's hope they will also use the OSM basemap on the front page of their site. The 2.0 version of the project NOAH website will include OSM as one of the basemaps. Re: [talk-ph] Governor Pineda (Pampanga) willing to support OSM for mapping other municipalities in the province
Kudos on your political manoeuvring, Maning. Credits goes to our local partners in Pampanga. While they are busy updating their own LGUs in OSM, they are aware that to be more effective and to get a complete picture of the hazard and exposure situation, they need to look beyond administrative boundaries and view the situation from the natural boundaries like the Pampanga watershed. This is why, they are slowly working towards a collective alliance to update the data of the neighboring towns/municipalities. As this is my area, especially the northern part, I will aim to get more involved. Specifically, what I'd love to see is that the very people that would benefit from the maps actually maintained them. Rendering a feature because its fans complain loud enough doesn't sound like a good idea, it sounds like a bad precedent which will lead the fans of other features to complain more often. The right solution to this kind of complaint is to help them set up their own thematic map. If the complaints came from non-fans it would be a different issue: if e.g. people who are not sundial nerds start to ask for sundials to be rendered because they are useful landmarks, this is a good reason to consider rendering sundials, even if they are not commonly seen on other maps (afaik). Returning to the main topic of this thread: I also miss the render everything even if it looks like crap approach of the old tiles@home, but I wonder if it is still possibile to have a map like that and still be readable: back then there was much less data on OSM, nowadays I suspect that it would become too clobbered even as a debug tool. -- Elena ``of Valhalla'' ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

FWIW, I am not a golf player, but as this is a returning issue decided to create a ticket nonetheless to avoid tagging for the renderer: https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto/issues/661 The problem here is (like often) that rendering these requires the golf key in the database, which is currently not available, so this is nothing to be done right away (submitting a patch will not change this in the short term). If there is interest in importing the key I promise to create a rule set proposal for it. Would adding an hstore-column be an option for the main rendering db? An example here, http://goo.gl/maps/dB8B6 Where railways no longer exist they should be correctly tagged as historic, the change to rendering means that there is now less chance that these errors will be fixed as nobody will spot the railway passing through a retail park.

[Talk-it] Errori traduzioni risultati di ricerca
Ciao a tutti!

___ Talk-it mailing list Talk-it@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-it

Re: [Talk-at] Tennengebirge
