I agree with everythign Fred said, but i think the true importance of
final scratch will lie, not in the preservation/reinstation of older
tracks, but the easy of which it is now possible for new ideas to make
their way from the producer's head to the crowd. Yes, that may mean some
half-assed ideas
I think what is best about FS is that as a producer one no longer has to
wait to get stuff out on vinyl in order to play it out... Allowing a set to
contain a higher percentage of new tracks, as well as all the bootleg
remixes you could care to make. Hopefully making for more creative and

Actaually we have to sample at 44kHz in order to get the frequencyes up to
22kHz. If
the sound quality of mp3s may be compromised to some degree. but so is the
sound quality of most of my records. half of my vinyl is over ten years old,

I would imagine that a large part of FS's appeal for Saunderson is that
he wouldn't need to carry a heavy box of records. As I understand,
Kevin has a bad knee and is unable to carry his own record box to gigs
anymore. A little laptop with the horsepower required for FS weighs about
4 to 5 lbs.
