a plow in sight.
This is the worst snow response I have ever seen in 30 years here. And there
have been similar storms. Looking around, it appears that Sunset Ave and Park

I was thinking the same thing re: emergency services esp since I have a young
child. Since the street isn't plowed, my condo association has not had anyone
come and plow the driveway of shovel us out. I am waa back from the street
and there are huge snow drifts and a fence in my way. I feel
kingsley has been plowed as well as deal lake drive...but they didn't plow
the lower end of the lake

And the the funny thing is,the way the snow has drifted, it is really deep
between my front door and the driveway, but after I put my daughter to sleep, I
suited up to start tackling it. We have no garage or storage so the snow shovel
was placed in this little space on the side of the house.

I have never seen such an incredibly non-existent snow removal plan in my life.
My street is a nightmare. My downstairs neighbor is a nurse, and it's going to
take all day to get her car out. The only plowing that occurred left 1 car wide
lane in the middle of the street, and there's 3 car

The issue is not money... recall that the City has not had any problem spending
money it does not have for the past decade.
The problem is not having the skill set to deal with this. The two most
experienced public works employees were relieved/fired/retired last month.

True.
It's amazing that the city had plenty of warning for this storm, yet as it
unfolded there was no road sanding or salting, no early plowing, nothing. Even
Main street is a nightmare.

Sunday night I watched two plows trying to work together, and all they did
was move snow to the middle of the road
You could tell they didn't have the skillset or know-how
That was the last time I saw a plow

Did any of you ever try to plow 3-4 feet of snow - with cars stuck in the road?
Front end loaders are one of the only ones to start making a path.
In ot, we just got plowed out 7 am Tues . The county hasnt been able to clear
all of norwood ave.
With layoffs and v-days and limited equipment
I haven't in a long time, but I think I still could.
So, Bergh between 1st and 2nd - plow pushed a mountain of snow halfway down the
block, then backed out and left it there. Unbelievable!

The proper process is to start sanding/salting when snowfall starts. Followed
by clearing during the storm so that accumulations on streets do not occur
leading to the stuck vehicles you

Esp since AP is a relatively small city that is basically a grid. Plows and
salt trunks should have been going constantly throughout the storm.

I don't think the problem is about driving cars around. If people have an
emergency, vehicles can't get through. Others NEED to get to work (either
because they are are nurses/doctors or bc they are simply supporting their
family and don't have the most understanding of employers). Moreover, it

I have to add though that it is not just Asbury- the whole shore area seems to
be having trouble. I grew up in North Jersey as I've said before and the worst
storm I ever experiences there took 48 hours max to clean up, usually it is 24
hours.

I tried to leave AP at 2:30 pm today to head back to NY to go to work tomorrow

my whole corner property - which btw no one else seemed to do.
Asbury Ave was plowed yesterday and finally bond street in the middle of
So maybe I owe apology to AP. Hear back from City Manager. State never showed
up to do Main St/71. County failed to plow Asbury and Memorial. City tied up
keeping clear for ambulances and escorting to hospital. So let the state and
county hear about it.

Once people start thinking they are entitled is the beginning of the end. This
was a disaster class snow storm. We all had plenty of warning. The big picture
is not about the response, but how the people are equipped to deal with it.
Complaining after the fact does nothing. The real focus

It's amazing to me that so many people these days are anti-government, but when
it doesn't work for them personally, it's the first thing they blame for their
troubles.
If you aren't happy, run for city office and try and make a difference. I think
about it all the time. Maybe it's an eye
So what you're saying is, if someone has a job as a paramedic, heart surgeon or
air traffic controller, they should just stay home until city, county and state
governments mount an adequate response to the snow?
While I agree with your point about taking action instead of complaining, this
is
I think we live in a hypocritical culture. Some people are all for smaller
government but when it happens, and people feel the loss, they complain that
somethings wrong. I find this to be ridiculous.
The same people preach about personal responsibility...
