A formal release is a long way off. Basically Infrant had to do some
deep level changes to the firmware to get SS 6.5 to work but subsequent
releases will be stand alone. If you read the release notes you will see
what has been added in the beta - nothing controversial so you can use

Just for HT tests, I have two 24/96 files: one FLAC and one WAV.
Since the Transporter supports 24/96 (I assume so from the overview
page: Sample rates: 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 96kHz, Audio format: linear PCM,
16 or 24 bits per sample) I tried them out.
To my astonishment the WAV played! At 13824

I have the SACD and it's fantastic to listen to in multi channel, but
how many other artists/genres lend themselves to a 5.1 mix? When the
music is just instruments and vocals, the only option the sound
engineer has is to make you feel like you're in the band.
My Transporter sounded awful out of the box, and if burn-in wasn't
happening, it would have been returned by now. Out of the box, the
mids are recessed. Bass is a smeared one-note affair that doesn't
integrate with any of the higher frequencies. After a few hours, the
mids start coming
