When one of my dogs does the restlessness thing, I always do a couple of
things. First I grab the Gas-X and administer a tablet or two. Then I
check the external vitals -- heart rate, respiratory rate (usually panting

The biggest problem I've had is my young girl who likes to eat cat food.
I keep the cat food on the kitchen table away from the edge so the cat

I would appreciate input from Berner owners concerning their call on

The little man is OK, but he sure gave me a fright!
Friday at suppertime I was in the barn feeding the equines while the dogs
romped in the yard. I was checking the water trough when pushy Maggee
donkey bullied past me into the barn and ran out through the open barn door
and into the yard. The
Yesterday I had the pleasure of reporting about Aeryn's benign tumour (big
WHEW's here still!). After sending that e-mail I had a good inspection of
the biopsy site -- it looked excellent! Aeryn had never once even seemed to
notice the 2 skin staples I'd used to close the wound, there hadn't
no panic here folks, nothing but good news!
About 10 days ago I found a tiny (2mm diameter) lump on Aeryn's right front
leg. It was so tiny, but red and raised, so I nearly immediately hit the
panic button. I actually contained my anxiety for a few days and left it
alone, just incase it was a

Our boy Kaiser, DeGrasso's Kaiser v Legacy, will be 10 years old on Sunday,
June 8th.
Born June 8th, 1993.
He, of course, is the sweetest berner I know. He's taught me show much
including how
to work with a draft dog (earning his NDD at the ripe old age of seven in a
draft test he

the end of the year. I don't actually use supermarkets much, but I think
this is an appalling plan. I will try to follow this up to find out how

Some of the breeders may have a better answer for you, but I have NEVER
seen a Berner drool.

The actual drool is more slippery than the water, but does reflect the most
appreciative anticipation of all of the meals that I prepare him. He owns
my heart as does his dry mouthed sister.

back roached, walks on toes with legs close together and head down. She was
fine when I picked her up at the kennel. I can't remember if this is a
cervical disc issue or something else.

When my Kellu (1995-2001) was a puppy she had to wear a plastic splint on
her tail for 5 weeks (long story ). She was so good about it, never
once tried to chew on the splint. But oh my! that thing was a lethal weapon
when she got waggin'. My shins were black and blue for weeks!!

Although his owner isn't on this list, I wanted to share the loss of a great
Berner. His name was Mozart and he was ten years old, a therapy dog, and a
great friend to everyone who knew him. Mozart was with his second family,
having been rehomed after suffering considerable neglect under the
Lucky Aeryn just got to be on the receiving end of the hydrogen peroxide. I
got home from work tonight and 'Ryn was outside in the dog pen -- didn't
even rush to the gate to greet me. Hmmm, what's she doing? I guess

Having just endured the most hellish 24 hours of my life there were a couple

My Devyn, English Cocker Spaniel, sucks himself to sleep every night. It's
the whole bedtime routine -- outside for potty, snack for the cats, biscuits
for the dogs, and then he bugs me until I give him his suckie toy. He's not

Happy New Year everyone!
Aeryn certainly has been on a roll lately! Thanks to those who expressed
concerns well wishes over her cut pad. 10 days later and it continues to
be a nuisance. The gash was deeper than originally thought (at 2:00 a.m. I
wasn't exactly seeing straight!). The pad is
, as I'd been warned
she might, showing up at the house with a familiar no-weight-bearing stance.
The surgery was repeated, and she was once again fine.
I'd guess everyone's story will be a bit different, but certainly good ACL
repair is possible! Good luck.

Last night I took the dogs out for their final run of the night and run they
did! Sure makes your heart sing to watch my 3 flat out -- the 2 big dogs
are low to the ground flying blurs. Devyn keeps up remarkably well, but
those long ears of his flapping wildly in the breeze just slow him down!
Well, Aeryn's done it again. Yesterday a.m. I woke up to find my brand new
container of fish food on the floor with bottom chewed out, and not a scrap
of the flake food left. Little madam! I'd only just bought it ~ an
expensive $9.00 snack that I'm sure did nothing to fill her up!

females and males, and what you're reasoning for doing it or not doing it

mode as I spied what was undeniably a Berner plush toy several aisles away.
Pounced scooped up a very adorable toy Berner puppy. In fact, I rescued

When our Matilde (15 month old spayed BARC girl) was being housetrained as a
puppy, she would have accidents almost exclusively on her two dog beds.
At the time, we thought that she just didn't like her beds and that was her
