Does anybody knows a software that permits to simulate multiple sessions to
a server to test load balancing and all those things?
I have Velometer for the moment, but I would like to know if there is
something else on the market.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Linux does seem to win for most cases.
I do have the dilemma that this a solution that may be used at many sites
and ideally needs to be a small, neat, rack mounted affair.
Once we get into the realms of buying 1U servers for the linux as well as

don't worry too much about the 700 series router.
One of the good things about this exam is that it is fairly up to date - and
the X25 stuff wasn't hard either.

which can generate up to 100,000 sessions or up to 1,000,000 connections

I am connected to the console port on a router that is sitting next to my
laptop. I have to upgrade the IOS on the Router. I have a copy of the IOS on
my laptop. When I try to send the image over to the router using TFTP it
doesn't work. I must be missing something.
What am I doing wrong?
If you're plugged into the console port on with your laptop, you need to use
XModem to transfer the IOS image. Just keep in mind that it's a blazing
9600bps, so it'll take a while, especially if your IOS image is large. =)

If you want the MSCFs to act as identical units where one backs up the
other, then convert to Native IOS. Once using Native IOS, it's a piece of
cake to set it up as you asked (i.e. one sits in standby and kicks in when
the other fails like on a 7500)

Hey, why not look into Cyclade's Terminal Server? It runs linux
which means you get ssh v2, plus they say you can get the 16 port version
for around $2200 bucks. Compared to the $4500, seems like you are WAY

Without looking at CCO where I found it the first time, I think subsequent
lab reattempts must be made every 12 months for the written to remain valid.
After 3 years, if the lab has still not been passed, another written test is
required. I would verify on CCO though.

won't work over a console connection.

and most certainly the CHEAPEST way to emulate an ISDN switch for a CCIE

I have worked in a number of places with people who are certified and their
productivity was zilch. You need to have a lot of experience to back up the
certification in order to be productive.
