I see no reason not to use the http keepalive. You can configure it to
grab some specific small object if you'd like to limit its impact. We
just grab the our homepage and I haven't noticed a performance impact at
all.

According to Cisco's website: Feasible distance is the best metric
variance.
In my case, I had tweaked the metrics to create just this situation and
it was driving me batty. The router in question was only considering
one path and would completely ignore the other. After posting this to
the list, someone quite correctly pointed out the problem.

I would also add a bit of advice about WFQ and PPP Muilt-link. IOS, at
lest, 12.0(7)T on a 3600, will allow you to put WFQ on the Virtual-Template
interface for the PPP ML. DO NOT DO IT. I tried just a few days agao, and
performace suffered a great deal. I am not sure why, but WFQ and PPP
would NOT rush out to buy a bunch of T-shirts just to satisfy
such a silly requirement.

A _lot_ of the material I studied for the CCDA/CCDP exams came up in
the CCIE written. This would certainly alter your certification
timeline a bit but I found it helpful.
