Conditional debugging is used to "filter" debug informtation such that you
are only viewing that which pertains to a specific interface rather than all
interfaces on the router. It only works with certain types of debugging, but
it enables you to debug stuff without crashing the router and

I know that the link shows backup ddr, but you could modify the config so
that there is no Serial link between the routers and you wouldnot need the
floating static route... the async dynamic routing command allows the route
updates

What happens is, the link is brought up and OSPF forms an adjacency. Then,
since it is a demand circuit, periodic LSA's are squelched and OSPF routes
associated with those LSA's do not age out of the routing table. Then, the
layer 2 portion of the link drops,

interface. You will see an "encapsulation failed" message... The trouble is
that Frame-Relay, being a layer 2 technology, needs to have a way to

the jumpers, so they were still set to DTE. I plugged in the DCE side of the

controller will only tell you what side of the cable is attached...

You are bound to pass each one on the first or second attempt,
IPX doesn't beacon... Beaconing is a Token RIng function that happens at
layer 2. IPX happens at layer 3.
This is a simple case of OSI confusion (as opposed to OSI envy, which we
won't get into...).
Token Ring is Layer 2. IP and IPX are layer 3. The Token Ring MAU is part of
that Layer 2
