I have a k3/10 that works great with HRD via the serial cable on on
COM4. But I cannot establish rig control with fldigi. I have read the

MFJ agree that the SWR is perfect.
Does anyone know what could cause this? FWIW, I am still using the
factory-supplied firmware (MCU 2.38 and DSP 1.90).

cable to go from the K2 to an RS232 serial port on a computer. If you
bought the K2 assembled, you hopefully got either the cable made up, or the

I totally agree, Julian. I've always had an outstanding opion of Elecraft,
not so much because they are fellow hams, but because they have always
had great products and excellent, speedy service.
All the more reason why I find it so incredible that they have been so

a wide area net such as ECN, becomes a real challenge as many stations can
not hear many of the other stations and/or NCS. The NCS should frequently
ask other geographically dispersed stations to call the net
K2 users, I'm thinking about building a k2 for myself.I built the k1 and do use
it.Is the VFO operation better than the k1? I guess, I mean ,is it smooth to
use for hours of tuning the bands or is it similar to the k1?

I have K2 that has a Transverter board that with the traces messed up on the
RF path where the two RCA connectors connect to. The K2 no longer receives a

A question for Elecraft, when y'all have time ;<)) :
It's a little bit of a guess looking at the picture, but the phone jack on
the front panel appears to be a 1/4" type rather than the 1/8" size found on
the K2, while the jack on the rear panel appears to be a 1/8" jack. Is this

of the Heil Handi-Mic with a K2. I must agree with the majority that the
H4/H5 mike elements seem to have a relatively low level output, and
therefore require special considerations when used

I recently acquired a Heil Handi-Mic with the HC-5 element, intending to use
it with a new K2 radio (#5510). I used straight-across wiring for the
configuration connector in the front panel since the Handi-Mic is equipped
with a cable wired for Kenwood mikes. No resistor from p
long radials. Certainly a target for lightning nearby! I've never (to
my knowledge)
had a direct hit, but I know that nearby strikes can induce high voltages
and currents
in any nearby conductor.

I believe someone sent me email today regarding a problem I had with failure of
the RS232 in my KPA100 some time ago. I inadvertently deleted the email before
getting a return address or name.
For that person:
The problem I had turned out to be three of the tiny RF chokes plus the MAX
chip wer
o be fished out with landing hooks.

I'm getting close to order a K2 but I have a few questions.
The K2 would be for CW operation only.
Like many others, I prefer to tune the band using wide bandpass of
over 2khz and only use narrow CW filter operation when band
conditions require it. My understanding is that if you equip th
e DSP option is added does the audio DSP filter track the CW
bandwidth selection. Or do you need to select them separately?
