Seems to me that one viable possibility would be for Elecraft to build
a new box - one that encapsulates the existing K3, but has a new front
panel that's larger, with more knobs allowing each knob to have a
singular function. For those that use the K3 as their main home radio

Thanks everyone for their replies to my problem. I read Jim Brown's paper this
afternoon and have ordered some mix 31 Big Clamps. I'll try putting one at
each end of the 40m coax feedline (RG8X) with the prescribed number of turns.

I have noticed that my LINE IN jack sometimes loses the input signal and I have
to apply a slight pressure to get it restored (gently push in on it). It's
fine after that unless I move the K3. Does this jack suffer the same issues as
the headphone jack too?

picked the 0.1-200W directional coupler as I wanted to put the W2 between the
K3 and the KPA500. Is it worthwhile adding the second coupler for 1-2000w? I'm

The uneven LEDs bothered me, too when I was building mine. I merely utilized a
toothpick to adjust and line them up as even as possible before installing the
front panel over them. My solution was an easy one and I suggest you give it a
try.

A friend wanted to try out 6m FM simplex (a new ant) and when I did I ran
into heat problems.
After a bit of fumbling I realized it was the KX3, not the amp, and that's
when it hit me - no temp display.
Funny that at this same time all the heat sink chatter comes to a peak.
Looks
was even easier than the K3 and every bit as much fun. I
can recommend one wholeheartedly.
As far as I know; the potential for a KPA-1500 is about the same as for a K4;
practically nil!

Hi Bruce. I was looking at the PX3 case today. It's not very deep and the
current P3 won't fit in there. And Eric did confirm that.
Some people have cut the stock P3 sides, top and bottom shorter to achieve
a similar profile.

All other AH-4 functions seem to be working ok. The cable powers the KAT500,
and If I hit the tune button on the 7100 the KAT500 obeys.
