Oddly enough, the version that comes with Ubuntu doesn't look anything like the
one on the BMP site. In fact, in Ubuntu, it looks identical to XMMS to me
(minus the terrible fonts).

If I understand correctly what you're trying to do:
$ date

$ date -d "today + 1 day"

$ date +%A

$ date -d "to

writer, but saved as HTML, since _most_ formatting is
consistant, and I know when I look at diffs between versions it will be a
little more human-readable (thankfully OpenOffice's HTML is a lot cleaner
than MS Word's).
