Maybe one could begin with an option screen that lets the user change those
options which does not require typing?
To undertake all options at one go would probably mean that nothing got done
in the end, because it's too complicated.
I think it would be much better to have some things to tweak
OK, one thing that I've been wanting to have a long time is to go to any
image in the image viewer and select that as my "background", just as I
would in GNOME or KDE.
I think this is very difficult, but that would make freevo more "nice", in
my opinion.

This might be a sensitive area, but I've been using Mandrake for a very long
time Recently I got some problems with my freevo box, and installed debian
on it instead.
The experience with using apt-get for (for instance) freevo 1.5rc?,
mplayer, xine etc. has been an experience close to making out

One problem with mmpython that I've, which might relate to this (as of
recently) was that a required directory in the Makefile doesn't download
form the cvs. This is very odd.

fine. You gotta have rather large fonts, and/or use the mouse function of
the remote a lot (If you have one)

This have been a big problem for me as well. My goal was to be able to use
the remote for MAME games, and at the very least to end MAME and psx games.
It's kind of odd because I use the Sapphire RF remote which emulates
keypresses under X, and _ought_ to be able to pass keys to MAME and epsxe.

I have noticed that if one or more of the channels are configured wrongly,
freevo (or something) gets stuck on one channel all the time.
Try to define jsut two or three (that you're certain of) and see if you can
switch between them.
You can also try TV_CHANNELS = None, to let freevo try to grok
Sometimes you have to erase /var/cache/freevo/TV* or something because the
old (maybe wrong) things are cached...

Hello, I'm having a problem withj the latest cvs;
I'm getting two consecutive images items in the main menu, but no games.
I've upgraded the local_config.py which get eaten without errors.
When I comment out the images menu item, I get none.

I have had a (similiar problem). Whenever I try to use tvtime (which IMHO
looks better than mplayer), it doesn't respond to any commands, remote or
keyboard. I can't shut it down, return to freevo or anything. So th
only thing to do is to forcibly shut down X (ctrl-alt-backspace) and run
startx ag
I've had that problem when using s-video+sound -> SCART on an old TV without
S-video in. I finally managed to use another SCART converter which gave me
color, but no sound :-)= So it's more than likely no freevo/v4l problem,
but a cable/contact problem

indentation issue. Just one space in front of a statement will make python
barf. It has something to do with the fact that python uses indentation
instead of '{' & '}'. It's easy to get when deleting comments and so on.

1) When installing pygame, everything breaks, until you comment out the two
lines in the 'Setup' file dealing with surfarray & sndarray

OK. I have to admit that I finally managed to get the MAME stuff to work,
due to (I must shamefully admit) a typo :-X
However, I seem to be uanble to get my two other emulators to work. They are
a GBA emulator and a PSX emulator ('GENERIC').
Either I get a crash, due to having None instead of ''
I recommend the current cvs 1.4.0-rc1(?). Apart from some minor problems
with the games settings (Which most probably are my own :) it works
perfectly (For my uses).
Also, all plugins work as advertised in the wiki, no more drooling over
webradio, etc.
