In the last week I have received 3-4 automated messages a day from
list manager saying that messages sent to my address have bounced.
Since I am now receiving spam also on the .mac account I was
wondering if the two things are linked.
I had never received spam on the .mac (I have it since
I lost one of the rubber feet to my Al Powerbook. The
Applestore I went to says it is not covered by AppleCare and want $7
for a piece of rubber about the size of a bug pie.
Anyone have good luck improvising a foot for a Powerbook?

Or you have a flaky mouse. If the user manual says NiMH batteries
work, and they don't, either the batteries aren't good or the mouse
isn't, NiMH rechargeables are very popular. If it's still under
warrantee, I'd contact Apple Support about it.

The battery connector on the 12in is soldered on the logic board whereas on
the 14in they are on a cable off the board IIRC.

your upgrades, have you seen much of a speed improvement on the G4
iBooks?
The 15 Aluminium 1.25 GHz with 1 GB RAM has the same performances,
the G4 14 iBook 933 MHz with 384 MB RAM is slightly slower.

The chip was bad. I replaced with an another 512 MB, so that now the
hardware configuration is:
256 MB upper slot high profile, correctly seen as 256;
512 MB bottom slot, seen, of course, as 256.
For a total of 512 MB without searching for the expensive and hard to
find 256 128 x 16 Mb card.
I would suggest to disassemble the display as this procedure is not
difficult on the 190/5300/3400/3500 (they are more or less the same
thing).
The cable may be broken or simply the connector.
Welcome to the club! When you get a similar Mac for free you end up
with a bunch of stuff from e-bay.
On my iBook G4 I can get (bluetooth on, airport on and connetced to
the home network) 3 hrs pretty easisly.
Never gone over 2 hrs with the Aluminium.
I guess the biggest difference is on the display.

Maybe, but when you turn on virtual memory, the OS basically starts using
the hard drive to map out memory pages that are inactive. What kind of hard
drive do you have and how long did you have it?

RAM chips have a density not higher than 128 Mbits.
So the only way to get a 256 MBytes module work on the WallStreet is
to choose those with 16 chips: 128 megabits x 16 chips / 8 = 256

The ram that in the lower slot, is soldered to the motherboard. Not much
chance of swapping that out. I wish a company like Newer Tech would do a
program where you send your iBook in and they remove that chip and

itself.
Now the Book is fine but it does not show anymore the serial number

I brought my Book to the dealer: he called Apple and according to
serial # my unit was defective. So I left the Book and after a week
or so I was give it back.
Same book, same serial # under the battery, but the software thing
does not contain the serial # anymore.

BTW. The serial port of my old Kanga no longer works. TechTool in not
very useful in telleing me if it is a software related error.

this is the part that would likely be damaged by external electrical
overload. Take the computer apart and use an oscilloscope to see if
signals are making is across the transceiver.
