I have been reading the manual on resizing our SMF MAN files. We are not using

We are z/OS V1.11.
It says that we need to IPL to change our MAN files. Is this correct? Are
there reasons that an IPL is required when altering the size or cisize of thse

To apply a sysmod will depend on the product and its target libraries needed.
The SMPE Users Guide is very helpful in this or the SMPE Commands book.
To Apply - the SMPE libraries + the Target and Distlibs for the sysmod.
If you run an APPLY CHECK S(???).
If anything is missing it will show
You all - as always - have provided wonderful history for I/O processing.
I think the use of one character procs goes back to Punch cards. Too many
holes - too little action...
However, the main question I have is - Is it still necessary to do this?
According to EMC they indicated that the re

I have a concern of the way the EMC Software - Timefinder Snap - under
Mainframe Enabler Software 7.0 works.
EMC decided that when the SNAP function occurs on a volume, they would issue
the S DEALLOC proc (Yes IEFBR14) to get IOS to vary the volume offline
sooner. I am not sure if that is a good
How are you doing this. REXX? Assembler? Other?
So are you creating a program that will generate the email using SMTP or
some other process?

I have been asked to research the use of ICSF in DB2.
I know that ICSF comes with z/OS. However, I am not sure if it really requires
a Crypto card to run.
Q1: Can you run ICSF without a Crypto Card?
Second, the intent is to encrypt row(s) of DB2 Data. Is ICSF the best way to
go or are there
Do you have specific areas you are interested in? There are newsgroups for
just about everything mainframe or distributed.
IBM Main is a fairly broad area of interests and covers the elements you are
looking for (BCPii, HMC, etc..). I am not currently aware of specific
newsgroups for those ar
I am trying to clean up all the "no longer used" panvalet modules. And of
course there are lots of pieces everywhere.
I ran across a module that seems to be access via ROSCOE but do not know what
it is used.
PANMODI is the Panvalet Options Module. What function does it perform if we no

We are running an EMC DMX4500 shared with the open system side. MVS has 9TB
and the open side has 500TB. So they win.
We have points in time where our production application (DB2 Stored Procedures
with Native SQL) has slow responses.
The DBAs are using RMF and TMON (DB2 and MVS) to isolate

It may be that you have received message
DSNT470I
If not, was there a DSN message produced? If possible please post the
entire message.
Second, have you reviewed the SVOLARC parm in the clist?
You may wish to review the Installation manual, section 4.1 Tailoring the
DSNTINST installation Clist.
In case you did not know, there is a DB2 Newsgroup that might be a better
source. You can find then at IDUG.ORG.
Second, the question is not very clear. Are you including DB2 Databases?
DB2 System Catalogs? DB2 nonVSAM datasets? Are you asking about the SMP

Barbara,
I knew you would be up to helping me on this do to your very gentle postings
that I have been reading ;-D
We had a rash of errors coming out of a vendor product so we set a slip
trap. So, without the GRSQ, they are saying "we cannot debug your problem"
because it is missing. And of
