Hi,
I tried installing Linux over an external HDD. First I tried with
Fedora core 2 and its diskdruid didnt support the USB HDD. Then I used
RH 8.0, with its fdisk, I was able to partition the HDD and write the
bootloader(GRUB) into the MBR of the same external HDD. It was booting
perfectly also.
Dennis,
I recently had this problem come up also. The 2.6 kernel supports partitions made
with other operating systems now. The way I fixed this was by going into the
Partitions section of the kernel config and enabling all the different partition
types. I imagine that deselecting the partit

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade from glib-1.2.10-8 to
glib-1.2.10-10 in my RH 8.
The problem is that while installing the RPM, i get
dependency error with glibc 2.3.2, which in turn
needs glibc-common 2.3.2. When I try to install
glibc-common 2.3.3, it conflicts with an earlier
version. Removing that ea

My old scsi cdrom will not boot. I'm installing from my windows hard
drive. I've made a boot floppy and all goes as it should when I boot, it
asks me for the location of the files and I tell it the path to my windows
drive where the files for disk 1 are stored. It never asks where disk 2 is

If you install Debian, it will replace your existing bootloader with a lilo

It does not really make any differance which system installed lilo, the
secret is mounting all your disks/partitions where "lilo" can reach them all

Hi Riley and Richard,
I guess I was thinking along the right lines when I mounted

probably didn't mount it correctly because it didn't show up
in the /mnt directory. I'd like to down all of it and

Oh. From what you sent this time, it does look like the NIC is being
detected, but RH cannot assign an IP address to the interface. I'm not
entirely sure of this, though, based on the details of what you quote, namely:
