I've been using 3Com's NICs with MBA since I started using LTSP and I dont
use config.ne2000 file. You can use config.ne2000 file as a template in
compiling your own kernel but it doesn't mean that it is required.
Hope that Helps

I have been running ltsp 3.0 successfully for a couple months. Unfortunately
it seems that I need to build a kernel in order to solve a couple of issues.
I have a dlink 530tx+ nic.
I downloaded the 2.4.9 kernel sources from kernel.org and place them into a
working directory "/download/kernel".
Hello,
Speaking of SuSE 7.3When is ltsp.org going to officially acknowledge
that it works with 7.3?

Matthew,
If you set 'RUNLEVEL = 3' in the lts.conf file, it will start
the workstation and you'll end up with a bash prompt.
At that point, you can type:
sh /tmp/start_ws
and it will attempt to start X only 1 time. When X fails,
you'll be able at least see the error messages.

OK, now everything works except that when XFree86 tries to start. The
screen goes blank and then shows some text briefly before repeating the
process again. It does this infinitely and too fast for me to read the
text. I presume this means the XFree86 server is the wrong one for my
video card.
The guide that showed how to boot a computer equipped with a 3com NIC
with MBA on it ("Remotebooting Linux using LTS and 3Com MBA",
http://www.ltsp.org/documentation/LTSP-MBA.htm) tells the reader to
fetch "config.ne2000" from the LTSP site. I downloaded all the
v3.0 Debian packages for LTSP and

Nice to see another colombian on the list. ltsp has a lot of sense in

The kernel is now loading properly and it tries to boot up until the
point that NFS mount doesn't work. The reason appears to be "Permission
denied". I guess this means I have to setup NFS to access that directory.
I have no idea how to do that. I'm giong to dig through my books, but
I know this is a well known subject, but I have spend several hours
trying to solve it.
I took care of the /etc/exports (I also tried to export /) but with no

In fact all the problems started I when decided to move to lts 3.0.0

Well..
I'm learning and guess I've never used tcpdump before. Thanks for
enlightening me.. I'll use it for now on..

Hi,
The Millbury public school system has 20-30 PowerMac 6100s that they would
like to setup as thin clients. Here's all I know about them: They are 66 MHz
/ 40 MB RAM / 600 MB HD with NICs.
The schoold also has a Dell server (1GHz / 512 MB RAM) to support the
clients. They'd like to run a Web b
Grgicevic,
I use tcpdump all the time, but before I do that, I

tcpdump can be very intimidating for people, and it can
be difficult for someone to actually see anything useful,
unless they really know how to use the pro

Matthew,
TFTP uses port 69. So, to test it, do this:
netstat -an | grep ":69 "
Also, take a look at the troubleshooting section of
the ltsp-3.0 docs.

Hi,
This might sound a little off-topic, but I suppose someone can help me:
Yesterday I was playing with a workstation with a video card with TV
Output and a TV. I think it would be nice to be able to use some
televisions as diskless clients, to surf the web, etc. However, I had

I am currently at my office and the system is my home so I can't give you
the exact lines per-say at the moment. However, I can tell you that it
says it's loading the kernel and to the right of the line that lists the
path to the kernel is where the first sleep message comes up.
