Hi
first a disclaimer: I'm running a karmic chroot on a RHEL6 (beta) server.
At the console selecting the login session is a mystery.
I built and installed icewm rpm, installed and created
/usr/share/xsessions/icewm.desktop
The console login now shows the session menu and I can install either w

if you enable (the great feature!) autologin for your clients,
sometimes you can't power them off easily by pressing the power button

So instead of asking the list for help I would suggest the following:

If Autologin feature is enabled, can users logout? It has been my experience
that if a user log's out than LDM will restart and log back in as that user.
Just thought maybe I am doing something wrong.

Hello,
I was wondering if it's possible to make terminals autologin into
KDM/KDE according to their mac address.
I'm using LTSP 4.2 on Debian Etch.
Thanks,

I have a nice script for kdm auto login. Each
machine sees it's own list with it's own set of users.
It is copied below.
By the way can gdm do this. For me it is a big deal
since not everyone can log in as parton
so I made partron_station1 etc or kids_station1 etc.
This way I have multiple login

Hi all
I made a LTSP network using IceWM and Firefox, for internet
browsing only.
4 machines: cdi1 to cdi4, 4 users: cdi1 to cdi4.
Server Mandrake 9.2, LTSP 4.1

Hi everyone!
I've read through the archives about autologin with GDM. I had a system
with KDM which logged in users automatically using one account and without
a delay. The problem with this method is / was that you have to enter every
client that is allowed to connect into the kdmrc file.

Hello,
I am trying to get all the terminals on my LTSP setup to automatically
log in as "student". The server works with gdm or kdm, but not the
terminals. I tried the HOWTO for autologin with KDM, and after fiddling
for days trying to get KDM running and listening for XDM sessions
instead of gdm,
I have setup autologin with KDM on Mandrake 9.0.
It works well except for one thing : and I quit the window manager ( in
this situation, qvwm)
When I start the computer, it autolog. When I press ctl-alt-backspace,
it autolog.
But when I quit the window manager, it load KDM and dont autolog...

Marek,
I've done this with KDM on a Redhat 7.2 machine.
In your /etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc file, you can add entries like the following:
#
# These entries will allow auto-login.
#
# Each workstation can have its own unique user id

[X-ws004:0-Core]
AutoLoginEnable=true
AutoLoginUser=jam

I need an autologon for my X-Terminals, so that instead of having XDM pop up
a login window, i want it to automatically log in as the user ``guest'' as
soon as it starts up.
Does somebody know how to do that?
thanks in advance!
