Hello I have just found out the reason for my lag when I installed this os I
had file vault incrypt my files but I did not know this at the time and now
it has finished there is no lag to talk of so check in the background to see
if file vault is incrypting hope this helps

OS X keeps many logs. One at least should be able to provide clues.
I would like to know which one would be useful for this as I want to see
what Mavericks is doing directly after login for the next 30-60 seconds.

For the lag issues, have you tried completely restarting the Mac? Also,
have you done a permissions repair. On one of my systems, I had the lag, but
these two steps have eliminated it completely. I am not experiencing it on my

Well, this gets even stranger but I fixed it.
Here's what I did.
First I pressed the reset button on the airport extreme and held it for several
seconds.
Then I was still able to connect through ethernet but Wi-Fi wasn't working. OK,
so far so good. But I still couldn't access

Actually, this was another feature that was focused on during the beta
cycle. Realistically, Spotlight is designed to give more functionality to
simple searches. It is not a matter of using the arrow keys any longer.

Is it possible under Yosemite to copy some text from an iBook? I am thinking
about cookbooks in particular, where I might want to copy a recipe, pasted into
an email message or a wordprocessing document, and save it.

I did a bit of research on this issue of Spotlight search is in Yosemite, and
one suggestion was made to delete a preferences file, Also to somehow reindex
the spotlight search capabilities. I would have to do more research to find out

I believe the Yosemite book was updated, but I've gotten so much mail that I
cannot be positive. I did purchase the Yosemite book in a bundle of books, and
I received notification of at least two updates being available. I think
Yosemite was one of them.
