You should be able to create a file with a .vlm extension which will
launch a VLC telnet script to stream your device to mvpmc. The
telnet command stream is on port 4212 and video or audio should be

Sometimes with a really bad crash a thread is left running that holds
on to an a/v device and the only way out is restarting via telnet or
unplugging the mvp.

My proof of concept was designed around a demo dongle. The daily
doesn't have samba support in the kernel which might also explain your
