SO now, I use kbiff... it is a really slick adapation of biff.
It allows you to set a time for interval mail checking... and is
pre-setup so that clicking it runs, 'kmail --check' which opens kmail and

I've just installed Mandrake 6.0. Everything
went fine until I reached the portion where I start configuring the monitor.
I've used all combinations (horizontal / vertical refresh rates) but to no
avail. Since I was so eager to start right away, I skipped the monitor
installation

Here's another thing to try. Once you've booted from your rescue disk,
mount your root partition under /mnt. Put a blank, formatted floppy in
your floppy drive. Then do
dd if=/mnt/boot/vmlinuz of=/dev/fd0 bs=512

You'll need to point lilo to the right config file: try
bash# /mnt/sbin/lilo -C /mnt/etc/lilo.conf
This tells lilo to use the config file /mnt/etc/lilo.conf.
You may also want to symbolically link /mnt/boot as /boot, because your
old config file points to /boot for all it's info. If you
