Ethernet + Modem. I haven't had many problems with linux. I'm assuming
you've got a DSL or Cable connection if you want it to pick up the IP on

feel compelled to say one more thing. I don't think the complaint
is with Linux the OS. Everyone I think is agreed that the OS
is a great achievement and that you must get proper hardware
to run it on.

Yeah, but g++ is one of the best c++ compilers out there and it's free! I

think linux has proven that you can have free software that is of high

By coincidence I just got mine going too on my pavilion. But I traced
the problem to a completly different place. I entered the wrong IRQ. As
far as I can tell the weird card doesn't have a normal irq. Windows uses
5 and everything works but linux needs 7. I put windows on 7 and no

I'm thinking of getting a 30GB IBM 75GXP hard drive. This drive supports
Ultra-ATA/100. Will this work with the default Mandrake 7.2 kernel or will I
have to recompile? I *could* just plug the drive into the UATA/66 port, but
that'd kinda defeat the purpose of getting such a fast drive :-)
