I bought a book called "MySQL" by Paul Dubois, and published by New Riders. Not only is it really easy to read, it teaches SQL, and all the ins and outs of how it relates to MySQL, and it teaches the use of the Perl DBI/DBD interface (it covers C as well.) very good book and highly recommended.
