text changes to the smb.conf file. All is working well - now.
Will have to figure out the NT domain integration stuff later. For now I
have the "sample" the programmers were after. And a day to spare!

make a change you will need to re-start the daemon's.

networks. The obvious answer is SAMBA. As one who does not like to bother my colleagues on this list, I wanted to go to

Check out the man pages for smbmount and smbmnt. This pair should do
what you want.

sits on a linux box (or other any othe os it has been ported to) it can access
netbios resources on other machines and also provide resources to other
machines. (2.0.6 dosn't seem to work with windows 2000 though, i'm just getting
2.0.7 down to see if
It should be running on all linux/unix boxes.
Is your basic network working? Mandrake should have set it up, all you
needed to do was put the ip numbers in.

The attached is an acrobat file of a SAMBA HOWTO written by a linux
user from Canada. Unfortunatley his web site is no longer available.
This HOWTO helped me greatley in getting SAMBA up and running. I hope it

When I type "smbclient -L localhost" from a prompt I get this message:

Probably you don't have samba configured at all.
check out www.mandrakeuser.org Tom has a great samba primer posted. Got
everything but linux to window printing up on mine with that.
