As I read more, it sounds as if the additional focusing areas would be cool
if the autofocus mechanism was faster/more accurate. I would spring for the

My son, Steven, just picked a flash that
would use them. It's an old Heiland Research
unit, with a battery extension, two cables,
and an adapter to use the bayonet bulbs as
well as the old large bulbs. He's been
thinking of using some of them. I think to
blind his brother.

Older all mechanical Pentax SLRs are indestructible to a point. Since
the K1000 has only been out of production for 4 years and still available
new in some markets, it still is a viable option. I found 2 over the last 2
months including a pristine all metal 1977 model and a "like new" Hong Kon
I did my usual stop at my photo store. The salesclerk silently came
up to me and held out the bosed MZ-S. He said they figured they would let
me do the honors of opening it! That's right my MZ-S came in!
I had to meet friends for dinner and I fought valiantly to keep the

They're ok to begin with, but they're old.
EBay aside, even a good one has a number of
years on it. That's hard to justify, in
my mind. Better a newer ZX-M. Decent build
and same character -- manual focus and classic
manual exposure. Plus Av, Tv, Program, and
DOF Preview to boot.

Prices drop in the summer because we'd
rather be out in the sun than on the computer.
Outfits sometimes go really cheap.

The F90 is plastic and not at all an all metal, solid AF body. Its lens mount flexes
with something as light as a 80-200/2.8 and the bottom plate flexes when the camera is
