Not having tried it, I was under the impression that the camera would
format FAT16 on cards < 2gb for maximum compatiblity. But if the card
was over 2gb then the camera would format for FAT32.

After upgrading to firmware v1.10, I let my *ist D format my 512MB CF
card. I checked the CF card on my WinXP machine, and it was reported as
FAT. So that is FAT16.
I then did a format of the CF card with my CF, and changed it to FAT32.
Then I put it back in the *ist D. The camera could read it wit

same. It´s just a matter of preferences, I like the kind of control
the curves give, probably because it was the first tool I learned.

That's wrong. You should use a green rubber band to match the green icons.
Blue icons are relevant during preview only; it's the green icons that
make shooting easi

I say that since the *ist is not a digital camera per se, there would be
no way to "upgrade" the firmware, without sending it back to Pentax to
have whatever ROM chip that holds the operating information, upgraded or
replaced.

mount is not really so crippled. I wonder, whether they can produce an
firmware upgrade for *ist, MZ-30 and similar cameras...
Especially, with compatibility with M and K lenses, *ist may become
quite attractive camera, right?
A problem that does not occur is one you don't have to worry about. Take

would have 46 MP. So a good quality 10+ MP APS sensor is nothing unthinkable,

I really like that feature on my Sony. It allows me to shoot a big TIFF and also a
small
JPEG for a quick view of the frame in the PS browser window or for a quick run through
in
other software without having to wait for the big TIFF files to load. It gives me a
quickie
email file should that
