Just in case:
I wonder if Eric Hendrickson might be able to fix it, even though he
says that he is not working on digital cameras.
Before sending it to Pre-Cession, e-mail Eric to see if he'd be willing to
look at it.

Some additional thoughts:

Yes, my Kickstarter pledge is already in place. :-)

And the inability to go vertical on one of the sides is a bit annoying...
But everything else seems to be well-designed.
Dale, that is a very nice image.
It's been 18 or 19 years since I've been to that area last time.
When I was looking at the photo, it reminded me of old photos.
I thought that if it were mine, I'd probably try to play with
some soft-lens effect (like that of Pentax F-85/2.8-soft).

That's a very interesting visual story.
Thank you for sharing it, Dan!
I noticed an interesting phrase in it:
"Rents were still affordable and charisma was more appreciated than a PhD

I thought that it describes the country today, except for the rents part.
I've just discovered two interested facts about Eneloop batteries.
First, Panasonic acquired Sanyo in 2009. As a result, Eneloop batteries
are labeled as "made by Panasonic", but it looks like only since 2013.
Somehow Sanyo brand still existed on the label until that.

Alan, thank you for pointing out to KENTLI batteries.
I've missed that development, - the rechargeable AA Li-ion batteries.
But the price is ...argh!... not even biting, rather - eating you alive:
$37 for 4 AA batteries!

Just in case, - did you mean $15-20 each of for a pair?
I can see many Amazon listings where each battery costs only

I think using new, _non-standard_ format of batteries for [almost] every
new model is a crime against humanity.
I am glad that almost all DSLRs (except the first 2 or 3?) from Pentax are
at least using the same battery format.
Those 2CR5's were a pain. I was glad that *istDS could take AA's
That was my first reaction, but then I started thinking carefully about

I remember that some people on the list were using La Crosse ("smart")
