Yes. I've seen numerous trackpads worn shiny with use, they keep

I'd get a g3 or g4, personally, but without knowing 'keyboard is a
real issue' entails, it's hard to say. Certainly a G3 or G4 powerbook
will enable using OS X; much better, imo than OS 9.
