It depends on which terminal you are using. If you have a large display you
don’t need to navigate around to see some statuses. It can improve workflow.
Things are seen sometimes quicker. At least from my usage.

Now you should be able to hear samples as you fast-forward with num-pad
2 or rewind with numpad 1.
The second thing is that you can hear playback at increasingly fast

You can nudge the selection end points by holding opt+shift (for start
point) and cmd+shift (for end point) and pressing plus or minus on the
numeric keyboard. Adjust the nudge value with cmd+opt and plus or minus,
