Flesh it out. Try to fill in all four points, rather than just the idea.
What zoom and center point? How does that work on different devices /
resolution / orientation?
How will this be implemented? What effect will this have on a returning
visitor? What else?

The map view can be based on a bounding box, so a strategically-selected
bounding box should handle all of these variables
Being returned to the last edited thing is the best! If I saw all of Canada

Dear all,
Darryl delivered on his promise, and openstreetmap.ca registration has been
transferred to OSMF / me. Thank you, again, Darryl for taking care of the
domain for the past years, and for offering it to the community, rather
than letting it lapse.
For now, if you visit openstreetmap.ca,

I have one quick, easy (I assume), and probably non-controversial
suggestion: when I clicked on the link, I got a map of Europe, not
Canada. I know that this is only relevant for the first visit but
maybe it can be fixed anyway.

I understand the interest in OSMF holding the openstreetmap.ca domain. To
balance that, there is a requirement that .ca domains be held by some body
with a legitimate interest or residence in Canada. (Or something like
that). If OSMF (being a UK not for profit) does not meet that requirement,
Of all the suggestions offered, OSMF seems like the most natural fit to
me. That seems like it would very much keep the domain in the hands of
the community, instead of an individual, which would guard against the
individual becoming disinterested or unavailable. The biggest roadblock

According to the registrar openstreetmap.ca was renewed. Of course
the admin contact info is unlisted. So I used Cira's (group in charge
of .ca) service to send an email to the admin of the domain. Still

Well, I'm no expert on this.
All i know is that before 2 days ago, it was registered to user:Dshpak
(he's the OSM mapper who did all the nations coastline) or made the

The fact that the website is still up suggests it isn't a mean domain
