I understand the interest in OSMF holding the openstreetmap.ca domain. To balance that, there is a requirement that .ca domains be held by some body with a legitimate interest or residence in Canada. (Or something like that). If OSMF (being a UK not for profit) does not meet that requirement,

Well, I'm no expert on this. All i know is that before 2 days ago, it was registered to user:Dshpak (he's the OSM mapper who did all the nations coastline) or made the conversion program or something? It then time lapsed, and it looks like it got picked up my a domain collecting thing.

At the moment OSM Canada has fewer resources available than is desirable. The problem with technical translations is how do you deal with updates? And in the case of French much of the work has already been done. May I suggest you talk nicely to openstreetmap.fr and add on a few Canada specific
