Sometimes, but it's pretty rare where I am. Europe tends to have a lot
more problems, especially during holiday periods. And on the rare
occasions that I've had mysb.com problems I've usually been able to
workaround it by connecting via SBS instead.

Other players would also include Transporters. And you're correct that
a Touch couldn't stream 24/96 to a SB3/Classic, because the SB3/Classic
tops out at 24/48, and the Touch can't downsample or transcode.

understandable mistake. That is the Touch's
built-in server that is not running, not the SBS running on your PC. If
you want to reconnect your Touch from mysb to SBS running on your pc, on
the Touch's screen go to Home My Music and you will be prompted to
connect to your pc.

At some point in the future the Logitech Revue, a set-top box for
internet (Google) tv may incorporate SBS. Or maybe one of the Revue's
offspring, if there ever are any.

you edit tags (in good tagging programs this is an
option that can be turned on or off), a file may suddenly be considered
new just because you edited tags. Overall it's a sensible method, but
if you don't know how it works it can produce some surprises.

I'm probably missing your point, but it doesn't take any programming
knowledge or knocked-up housekeeping service to (a) run the 'attrib'
command and (b) avoid running WMP. And if you ever forget (b), run the
loop again starting at (a). :-)

TinySBS, but the other day I was testing something
with a subset of my library on a USB stick and TinySBS worked fine for
me with 7.5.3.

That is inconvenient, but as a dead-simple workaround, put the lossy
versions in a hidden directory, and TinySBS will never see them. For
example, instead of putting the lossy copies under /music/lossy , make
it /music/.lossy (followed by usual artist/albums structure).

Likewise, most people, on most music, cannot hear the difference
between 320kbps MP3 and lossless. Try doing an ABX sometime (foobar2k

I'm pretty sure there is a way to change the port without editing the
prefs file directly, but I don't have SBS in front of me to check
exactly where it is. Did you stop the SBS service completely before
editing the prefs file? If not, that's why your edit didn't stick.

Those 3 options are normal for 7.6.0. I have firmware r9316 and have
Extras on the home menu, but I don't remember exactly how I got it
there. You may have to try restoring defaults or restoring hidden items
to get it to appear.

Are you sure that the Touch's built-in Squeezebox Server (TinySBS) is
running? Also, do you have any other sources connected to the Touch's
USB port? For music libraries the Touch will only recognize one locally
attached source, either USB or SD, but not both.

TinySBS stores favorites.opml on the Touch's internal filesystem. I
forget the exact path.
Re the 100 item limit on TinySBS playlists, I would guess that it
wouldn't be a big issue in Ikabob's case, in which each item is a radio
station URL as opposed to a single track.

The TinySBS itself is silent, but if your library is on a USB drive you
will have a whirring hard drive in your listening room. USB drives can
be very quiet, but they are not silent unless they're solid state.

That's pretty strange, but TinySBS may help you. Another possibility is
to put those stations on your Favorites list at mysb.com and connect
the Touch to mysb.com instead of SBS or TinySBS.

As an alternative, why not run SBS on your PC but use the NAS as the
library, instead of having a separate copy on your PC? If you are
running the regular SBS there is nothing that says the library has to
be on the same machine.

Yeah, I can see that. We use WOL in our house because that seems easier
for the non-techy users than having them switch servers/libraries. The
server goes from suspend to running in 2-3 seconds. But all users (and
families!) are different.

to the far right is labeled Album Artist and is used for the
Album Artist. What you do with those fields depends a lot on how you
want your classical tracks to look in SBS -- there is no categorical
