Possibly, you have the port "open" and not redirected.
You need a port forward of 5900 to your local machine if your firewall
is doing PAT/NAT.
(i.e. you have only one public IP shared for many computers)
Simply Opening 5900 will prolly route the packet into the bit bucket.

On Mon,
You could use vnc-enterprise.
Then you get encryption and each server can set up access acording to
it's Local/domain Users (windows) .

Scratch my previous response... I do NOT think it is working. I have VNC
running on my RedHat box at home. I have verified that it *is* running
currently (ps aux | grep vnc) and when I try to telnet to the localhost:5901
it doesn't work. I don't get the RFB.

Hi.
I want to do VNC to my home computer, but I only have a private IP address
provided by my ISP company. I have no control over firewall, router or proxy,
all these things are managed by my ISP. So I can4t do port forwarding.
Is there any workaround to access my home computer via VNC?

How do you connect to the internet? DSL/Cable-modem? I'm guessing that you
either use dial-up or have a router for cable or DSL. What you need to do is
forward port 590x on your router's external IP address to 192.168.0.4.
If you give us more details about how your home LAN is connected to the

I recommend a DSL Router to connect your LAN to the DSL modem, instead of
directly connecting your XP box to the modem. That also provides somewhat of
a hardware firewall for your PC. As for using your XP box to do the routing,
you'd have to set up routing in there. I've never done that myself.

I work with an internet gateway. It's just 1 pc that is conected to

I have removed all firewalls. I ran a Port scanner and 5800 and 5900 are

get a different error msg. now 10061.
