Switched Digital Video, it's a way for 1000 channels of info to share fewer channels of available bandwidth by only broadcasting the channels that are actually in use by an end user. Tivo does this by a Tuning Adapter, which allows for two way communication between your cable reciever (Tivo) and the hub switch that sends out the channels as requested. Normally this is done with a cable box, but newer Tivo's use cable cards instead.
The lack of up to date program data may be to blame for the incorrect recordings, programs have changed, but not your recordings because of the network issue you had. Have you stopped getting the warnings ?
