Well have all the days news and of course well have the weather forecast. Now then, Im not sure yet if Paul will be with us or not. He was not so well last night, so it could be Lisa tonight, but find out later.
Also tonight, Ill be looking at the latest attempts to warn young drivers about the dangers of the roads in our region. Ill be talking to a Lincolnshire mother, whose daughter was killed in a car accident a week after her friend had passed their test. Ill be looking at this in more detail tonight. Ill be finding out why home education is becoming more and more popular in our region and well be peeling back the layers of history in Beverley as we follow an archaeological dig. And my special guest tonight is the cricket legend Henry Blofeld. I hope you can join me for tonights Look North at half past six. Gene Pitney Some very sad news now that Gene Pitney died last night at the age of sixty-five. Gene was hugely popular in this country and was my guest on the programme just last Friday night. Its such sad news. The irony of it is that Gene was telling me in his interview just how fit he was and how he worked out regularly. Gene, who had a string of hits in the sixties, died after a concert last night in Cardiff. Gene leaves a wife and three grown up sons. Gene had a connection with our region and we will be talking more about that on tonights Look North, including getting reaction from Lincoln City Football Club after Genes enormous fundraising efforts to help save the club from closure. I hope you can join me then. I know Gene has a huge fan base, as I was saying last Friday, and many will be so upset today hearing this news. My thoughts are with Genes family and friends today. Email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Also, while I think about, during the summer, not until July, but the biggest event on the East Coast is the switching on of the illuminations at Mablethorpe and Paul and I, this year, will be switching on the lights. Its a Sunday night. If you can make it down to Mablethorpe, then I look forward to see you. Ill be letting you know the details on that one, nearer the time. But thats the switching on of the illuminations at Mablethorpe in the summer! Washing There are all these gadgets that come out that are supposed to help us save time. I remember when the non-iron shirt came out and is oxymoron the right word to use? Anyway, allegedly you wash the shirt and it doesnt need ironing afterwards. Well, it never works out like that does it? Well, now there is the washer that will also do your ironing! This has just been launched. The machine is said to do everything for you. It brings dry cleaning to your home and it means that the chore of ironing will eventually be the thing of the past. Well, Ill believe that when I see it! OCD Now its something that many of us suffer from I think - OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I suppose it shows itself in a typical example of where you keeping checking the locks when you leave the house or checking the oven is switched off and of course there are many other examples. Sufferers from it are tormented by their fears, which they attempt to overcome by carrying out rituals. Its not clear what triggers the condition, although research suggests the answer lies in genes rather than psychology. So there you are. I think I am borderline on that one, but Im not that bad. Anyway, hes renowned for his perfectionism on the pitch, but it seems that everything has got to be just right for David Beckham at home as well. The football captain has admitted that he suffers from OCD and in a television interview he confessed to counting cans of drink in his fridge. He said the condition leads him to count clothes, place magazines in a straight line and symmetrical patterns! and he added that one of the reasons that he keeps having tattoos is that he is addicted to the pain of the needle. He says, I think Ive got this Obsessive Compulsive Disorder where I have to have everything in a straight line and everything has to be in pairs. Its such a problem that Ill go into a hotel room and before I can relax, I have to remove al the leaflets and all the books and put them in the drawer so that everything is perfect. So there you are. Thats about David Beckham.
