Tonight, Ill be looking at the row in Grimsby over why education officials turned away Jamie Oliver from their schools. Of course, youll remember all of Jamies work in school kitchens to improve the quality of food served to children. Well, Ill be looking at that in more detail tonight. Ill also be looking at the planning row thats dividing a community in our region. The residents of the picturesque village of North Ferriby are up in arms about plans to build a recycling depot on their doorstep. More on this later. And my special guest tonight is the irrepressible Gerry Marsden from Gerry and the Pacemakers. Hes always a wonderful guest and so funny and as a friend and colleague of the late Gene Pitney, Ill be hearing his reaction to the sad news from yesterday. I hope you can join me then. Gene Pitney As I mentioned yesterday about the sad news of Gene Pitneys death, Ive had lots of emails from people telling me their stories and about their affections for Gene. He was hugely popular and he had a huge fan base in this country and it was a sad, sad loss. And it was even stranger for me thinking that just last week he was on the programme. And I actually commented to him about how well he looked and how every time he arrived in this country hed go looking for a gym. And he really did look very well and very fit. So its a very sad story. And more than one person has sent in an email like this one. I wont read the name out though. I am one year younger than Gene and Im fit and healthy today, but it makes you think about the future doesnt it? It certainly does. Thanks for all the emails on Gene Pitney. We will miss him an awful lot. Money The more money a woman earns then the more handsome she wants her partner to be, according to research. Previous surveys have overwhelmingly shown that women want a rich man and men want a looker. However, as women become more independent and earn their own money, then they dont necessary want more money anymore, but they want their man to be good looking, so this new report says anyway! Sat Nav You might have seen this before. I mentioned it last night on the programme about in-car computers, which are designed to get motorists safely from a to b. However, at a place in North Yorkshire, called Crackpot, satellite navigation systems have been going crazy, sending motorists onto precarious cliff tops instead. Any stories of Sat Navs not working in the area, then I would love to hear them. If youre lucky enough to have Sat Nav, then do get in touch! Water Of course in some parts of the country you cant even fill your watering cans at the moment, or irrigate your lawn, or wash your car. Thats all banned down in the South East, but were alright up here at the moment, although things might change during the Summer. But neighbours are being urged to report anyone defying the hosepipe bans, which are affecting thirteen million people in the South. Water companies said that theyre willing to prosecute those using a hose to water the garden or clean the car, with a possible fine of up to £1000. But the question is, would you shop thy neighbour? Thats what youre being asked to do. Would you grass in your neighbour? Well, if you would, then let me know, or if you wouldnt even dream of doing that, then let me know as well. I would be interested to hear your views on that one. Laughter Laughter helps fight infections. Its long been held that laughter is the best medicine, but research shows that even the expectation of something being funny, is good for ones health too. Experiments have shown that laughing lifts our spirits and boosts our immune system. People have often said to me, how come you never have any time off work or are never ill well, theres the answer. Working with Paul Hudson, of course, keeps you laughing and that keeps you healthy. Well, thats my story anyway and Im sticking to it. So thanks to everyone, who was there and to our friends at the school. It was good to be there and to meet everyone who goes to the Little Learners Nursery.
