Re: Row level access with flashboards

2007-09-10 Thread Jason Miller
Thank you both for the responses. It is good to know that I am not
completely crazy. Robert, you may be on to something with the Mid-Tier user,
especially if there isn't any SQL that limit the results to a real user's
group list. I didn't get a chance today to work on it but post my results
once I do. I have a coworker with a custom 6.3 p21 system and he mentioned
that he has a flashboard that appears to be respecting the row level access
but we are going to verify.

Here is some more detail regarding the scenario:

We will have multiple contractors who are responsible for different sites
using our system. They should not be able to see each other's areas of
responsibility (they should not be able to use the data in the system to
their bidding advantage against competitors, volume of tickets, time to
resolve, etc).

To support this there are two dynamic groups "AC_WriteAccess" <60001> and
"AC_ReadAccess" <60002> and corresponding fields on the HPD:HelpDesk and
SHR:ConsolidatedList forms. These groups have permissions to field '1' on
both HPD:HelpDesk and SHR:ConsolidatedList (as well as Assignee, Submitter
and some supervisory groups who see all tickets (yes I checked that my test
user does not meet any of that criteria)).

We are only actively using AC_WriteAccess but AC_ReadAccess is there (a
similar setup as CMDB/AM. I have a filter on the Help Desk that sets
'AC_WriteAccess' = $Assigned To Group+$ when the value of 'Assigned To
Group+' <24006> changes. I added to AC_WriteAccess to the 2 filters that
push to SHR:ConsolidatedList (one on Submit and one on Modify).

This all works well in the 'Support Requests' <26000> table on the
"Remedy Support" form without any modifications. My expectation would be
that the flashboards on the Remedy Support form would also only reflect the
requests that the user has permissions to without any modifications. I
realize that I could update the FB's to query the user's group list but my
current mission is to see if I am seeing the as designed behavior or is this
a bug. This may be a good gotcha to know about when designing flashboards.

Thanks again,

Jason

Interesting question!!

I'm on 7.0.1 Patch 1, and did some testing with the HPD:Incident Management
Console (and the management view within), and taking API+SQL Traces, the
queries executed as defined by FB Variables, without any "extra" sql
attached, (Field 1, 3, 112, 6. restrictions)..

It also executes as the user context 'Mid-tier', which is the internal
account, so it might be thought of as an "Administrator" level account.

I was hoping to find an "Impersonate User" entry in the API Log, but alas,
none was found. (hum, that IS logged right??)

I DID see where Mid-Tier was getting the user's group list, etc but nothing
was in the SQL Query.

I will (as Joe is going to do as well), perform some additional testing,
because that is an interesting conundrum of data-access.

Hello Jason,

I don't really have an answer to what you are facing but in case you do hear
something about what you have observed, please do let us know. Its a nice to
know sort of thing.. I may have time over this week to simulate what you are
seeing so if you can give me a test case scenario of what you are seeing
I'll check to see if I can replicate that on my free time.

I am however on a slightly different patch level - ARS 7.0.1 P3.. Soon I
intend to upgrade to 7.1 as its a dev/test system, so could check on both
these versions.

Cheers

Hi all,

I noticed a strange behavior with flashboards and row level access. I am
working with the OOTB Remedy Support console in ITSM 6. I have added row
level access on the various forms (Help Desk, Change, Task) and those
permissions are pushed to the SHR:ConsolidatedList record.

The problem is if I login as a user who can only see a limited set of
records I still see all of the groups and their record counts in the By
Group flashboard ('Flashboard2'). This user should not have any knowledge of
who the other groups

7.1 Java API examples

2007-09-10 Thread Sebastiaan De Man
Hi All,

I started playing around with the new Java API, it has changed a lot, but
certainly for the better.
If anyone is interested, I made two sample applications (Create an Entry,
Retrieve and Update an Entry) which you can find here:

http://arsystem.xqsr.com/2007/09/10/ars-71-new-java-api/

The only drawback is that applications using one of the older API's will not
work anymore, it has really changed considerably and is basically a complete
new API.

Re: v7.1 Mid-Tier with v6.3 patch 20 ARS server... connection problems?

2007-09-10 Thread Carey Matthew Black
Joe,

Actually no. The admin tool did not say I need to, and I also changed
the password on a v6.3 Mid-tier (patch 14?) and it connected just
fine... so I think if the v6.3 Mid-tier can connect to the v6.3
server then that says something is working correctly. And when the
v7.1.0 Mid-tier does not connect... well... I think I know where I
think the problem is. I just do not know how to fix it.

I might try to find some time to upgrade the v6.3 server to the latest
patch (22?) and see if that resolves the problem. But I need to find
some time

Re: Problem with Migrator

2007-09-10 Thread strauss
I would recommend that anyone having trouble with Migrator 7.0.x have a
look at 7.1. I have moved a fair amount of workflow and data back and
forth between 7.1 ITSM servers with it, and I find it vastly improved
over all previous versions. I moved a number of customized forms and
workflow objects between 7.0.01.003 and 7.1 with it last month, and did
not detect any errors, but I may not have audited the results as
exhaustively as Rick has. I was usually satisfied when a subsequent
object comparison showed no differences. Note that I was usually running
it on either a 2gb RAM Vista or 1gb RAM XP client, and on both it was
dramatically faster than previous versions, but one caveat; I still have
to use the 5.1.2 migrator on production, so almost anything is better
than that.

I don't believe that you will experience problems using the 7.1 migrator
between 7.0.x servers, although I never tested a 7.0 to 7.0 migration,
usually 7.0 to 7.1 or 7.1 to 7.0. You may have problems with using the
7.0 migrator against a 7.1 server because of the change in license
storage - I did - but who would want to?

When I migrate objects, admittedly I usually turn off all of the
Required Object options - a cautious habit from the past - and move
everything manually, so I have not done any large-scale migrations of a
major change and all of the related objects. A good acid-test in the
near future might be to install ITSM patch 006 on one server, and
migrate all of the differences to another, but that might be a little
bit too extreme (and miss the file system changes). I might try it to
move ALL of my customizations to the fresh 7.1 ITSM server I will be
building out for production late this month, after backing up the clean
database of course, but hopefully _after_ patch 006 comes out.

Determine what you are using the fields to capture and then remember that if
you are going to need to do reports with these fields how you will get the data
into the report. I have learned that by creating a copy of the view you added
the new fields to with its unique name upgrades can be handled more easily
since this view will not be updated. Ypu can also copy HPD:Helpdesk to a new
form again this will not be updated.

Re: New Java Plugin Server Problems

2007-09-10 Thread Axton
I think the two are unrelated. libumem is a set of memory allocation
routines separate from those that libc provide that do a lot of checks
and auditing that otherwise are not performed. Upon bad app behavior,
applications are force to exit and optionally dump a core. The fact
that using using libumem and allowing armonitor to launch the new
plugin server causes an abort tells me that something very suspicious
is going on in how armonitor is forking the process for new java based
plugin server.

This provides some insight into the issue:
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/36430-90007/ch04s12.html

EFAULT CAUSE The system detected a NULL or bad address in attempting
to use the pathname parameter, or the pathname was not terminated by a
null character.
ACTION Make sure that the pointer is correctly initialized.

It appears that the format of the armonitor entry is really not valid
for the call to execl() to launch the process. The original entry
read:
java -Xmx512m -classpath
/usr/ar/sundev71/pluginsvr:/usr/ar/sundev71/pluginsvr/arpluginsvr71.jar
com.bmc.arsys.pluginsvr.ARPluginServerMain -x sundev71 -i /u
sr/ar/sundev71 -m

Looks like the path to the java executable is missing and this is
required for the call to execl() and/or an invalid number of arguments
are passed.

By saying updating the database directly, what exactly do you mean? What

updates CTM:People from some other external table?

Hi Joe…

Well I built the form because we have an external process that has to be
interfaced with and they also store people data; however there is a ton more
associated data for each person. And I didn’t want to modify the People
form to try to save on customizations to OTB stuff… so I built a sort of
staging form so their people data can hold the typical stuff (name, address,
etc) but also their extra info.

The required CTM:People fields need to be filled in so we can open
tickets in the IM app (Help Desk) and automating it is the only way since
there are so many customers.

Sure… if you have it that would be great… merge won’t work for me
because they are updating the database directly rather than ARImport.
However I may be able to see what’s happening…

Thanks a ton!

Mary

Mary,

Have you built that staging form yourself and having problems with it?
OR Are you using a 3rd party utility where this staging form is a part of??

I have a utility that could help in mass load of people data and can
send that to you if you would like to use that. It was given to me by BMC
support. It contains a number of filters defined to trigger on MERGE. Let me
know if you want to consider using that. I'll try to find it and send it

  Ok thanks Rick!!!

I'll keep digging. For the Client Type of Customer it doesn’t seem
that Site needs to be loaded… or at least it’s worked for me so far without
it.

It would be so much easier if we could assign Roles to AR_ESCALATOR…..

Mary, there are other validations going on - even for arcane things
like the phone number. Adding the qualification like you did for those
Filters worked for me - you just have to turn the logs on and see where it
failed, then where the data can't be cleaned to the point where this isn't
necessary, add the exclusion to another Filter until it stops running into
them.

Here are the other Filters I encountered:

  CTM:PPL:VerifyManageInfo_141_Check

  CTM:PPL:VerifyManageInfo_142_Check

  CTM:PPL:VerifySite_100_Check

  CTM:PPL:VerifySite_101_Check

Also, check this CTM:Support Group Assoc Lookup Active Link:
CTM:SGL:AddGrp_016_AddSGA-E, which has a bug related to evaluating the wrong
field as $NULL$ (in patch 3).

  HTH!

Here's a heads-up for those of you trusting enough to
use Migrator to move your code about:
I did a small migration this morning of just a few dozen forms (no
data, no workflow). Migrator 7.0.1 p4 - Server 7.0.1 p2 on source server,
7.0.1 p4 on destination server.

All of the forms were migrated, but when I ran a difference report
immediately afterward, on three of the forms (1 Regular, 2 D.O.), some of
the group permissions were not migrated successfully on some (not all) of
the fields. Since the group is one of the core ITSM groups (General
Access), which does exist with the same ID on both the source and
destination servers, I think this is kind of a problem.

We'll see if Support can help, but this is really an engineering
issue. I can't wait for BMC to give us a migration tool I can trust.

Re: Row level access with flashboards

2007-09-10 Thread Robert Molenda
Interesting question!!

I'm on 7.0.1 Patch 1, and did some testing with the HPD:Incident
Management Console (and the management view within), and taking API+SQL
Traces, the queries executed as defined by FB Variables, without any
"extra" sql attached, (Field 1, 3, 112, 6... restrictions)

It also executes as the user context 'Mid-tier', which is the internal
account, so it might be thought of as an "Administrator" level account.

I was hoping to find an "Impersonate User" entry in the API Log, but
alas, none was found. (hum, that IS logged right??)

I DID see where Mid-Tier was getting the user's group list, etc but
nothing was in the SQL Query.

I will (as Joe is going to do as well), perform some additional testing,
because that is an interesting conundrum of data-access...

hear something about what you have observed, please do let us know. Its
a nice to know sort of thing.. I may have time over this week to
simulate what you are seeing so if you can give me a test case scenario
of what you are seeing I'll check to see if I can replicate that on my
free time.

I am however on a slightly different patch level - ARS 7.0.1 P3.. Soon I
intend to upgrade to 7.1 as its a dev/test system, so could check on
both these versions.

**

Hi all,

I noticed a strange behavior with flashboards and row level
access. I am working with the OOTB Remedy Support console in ITSM 6. I
have added row level access on the various forms (Help Desk, Change,
Task) and those permissions are pushed to the SHR:ConsolidatedList
record.

The problem is if I login as a user who can only see a limited
set of records I still see all of the groups and their record counts in
the By Group flashboard ('Flashboard2'). This user should not have any
knowledge of who the other groups are in the system and their ticket
volumes.

I know the row level permissions are working on the
SHR:ConsolidatedList form (also where the FB data is coming from)
because the user only see the correct records in the table field.

Do flashboards recognize row level access?

Is this a bug?

As designed?

Thanks,

Jason

Another thing to check. Can she logon to Mid-Tier using her login, when logged
in from a different Windows profile on her PC? If not, her PC is likely the
problem. If so, her Windows profile is likely the problem.

A couple things I've seen that can cause this:
 - Locked files. A reboot will often fix those.
 - IE Plugins. Try disabling any that she has and you don't.
 - Viruses. Some of these can hose up data being submitted.

Good luck with this.

I able to log onto the Mid Tier ("user tool"). I'm also able to log in

I had her flush out her history in IE, Delete her Temp Files in IE and
Delete her cookies in IE. I had her flush her DNS. I also flushed the

What's the exact error that you get when you try to log in..

Is the authentication from LDAP? If so that user on a different domain?

Time Translation - Qualification vs. Results

2007-09-10 Thread Haralson Kevin - kharal
I am running version 1.3.2007.22475 of the Remedy API for
performing ticket searches. One of the criteria and results of the
search is on a DateTime field. I understand that this data is stored
within the database in UNIXTIME format at GMT.
It appears that the Remedy API is performing the necessary
timezone and Daylight Savings shifts upon the qualification data, but it
does not appear to be performing the same processing for the search
result dates. For example, when searching for tickets starting between
9/1/2007 00:00:00 CDT and 9/1/2007 23:59:59 CDT, I am retrieving one
ticket. The Remedy client shows the start time of 9/1/2007 8:00 PM as
adjusted for the timezone and Daylight Savings shift from GMT, but the
Remedy API is returning a start time for this ticket as 9/2/2007 1:00 AM
GMT. (I placed the Timezone indicator on the example as it is not part
of the string.)
What needs to be done so that the input date fields and output
date fields work alike? It's going to be confusing to continually
remember that only one and which one needs to be adjusted.

Kevin

Re: Row level access with flashboards

2007-09-10 Thread Joe D'Souza
Hello Jason,

I don't really have an answer to what you are facing but in case you do hear
something about what you have observed, please do let us know. Its a nice to
know sort of thing.. I may have time over this week to simulate what you are
seeing so if you can give me a test case scenario of what you are seeing
I'll check to see if I can replicate that on my free time.

I am however on a slightly different patch level - ARS 7.0.1 P3.. Soon I
intend to upgrade to 7.1 as its a dev/test system, so could check on both
these versions.

Cheers

Subject: Row level access with flashboards

  **
  Hi all,

I noticed a strange behavior with flashboards and row level access. I am
working with the OOTB Remedy Support console in ITSM 6. I have added row
level access on the various forms (Help Desk, Change, Task) and those
permissions are pushed to the SHR:ConsolidatedList record.

The problem is if I login as a user who can only see a limited set of
records I still see all of the groups and their record counts in the By
Group flashboard (‘Flashboard2’). This user should not have any knowledge of
who the other groups are in the system and their ticket volumes.

I know the row level permissions are working on the SHR:ConsolidatedList
form (also where the FB data is coming from) because the user only see the
correct records in the table field.

Do flashboards recognize row level access?

  Is this a bug?

  As designed?

  Thanks,

  Jason

Re: Request For Opinion/Knowledge: Patches

2007-09-10 Thread Joe D'Souza
That's usually the best way to go.. But with reference to Remedy and its
ITSM suite of products, you might want to reconsider that stance, and review
the release notes to check the fix lists.. some of the bugs fixed as a
result of some of those patches were problems that would have hit you
somewhere down the road so these patches were worth installing rather than
wait as most of them were workflow related so it was easy to see what was
fixed.

It sometimes sucks though when patches are released barely weeks from each
other..

What I usually do is if workflow is fixed as in ITSM sort of patches, I go
ahead and apply them right away. You can't go too wrong doing that.

However I prefer waiting and watching the release results of core patches
like patches to the AR Server, Mid-Tier, E-Mail engine, as these patches are
usually more software patches than application patches.. If I do have the
luxury of working with development servers though I do tend to apply them on
a weekend and see how it goes, and roll out if there seems to be a obvious
problem..

Do you always run the latest and greatest or do you only fix it if it's
broken?

Do you keep your Mid-Tier and AR at the same patch levels?

Do you have a "wait" time for releases - BMC releases it and you wait 6
weeks for bugs?

Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

That's ok.. If the data is that way its easy to capture "123 Main ave." from
the field using the functions I've described earlier..

 ztmpfield = LTRIM(REPLACE($AddressField$,"Street Address:",""))

Takes care of it without any other string manipulations. Or since you
know the text "Street Address:" is always going to be 15 characters, and
always going to be at the beginning of the string you could do:
 ztmpfield = LTRIM(SUBSTR($AddressField$,15))

The LTRIM clears any whitespace that might show up between the colon and

generating this (i.e., whether or not you know it will be there).

Three words: Don't. Buy. Trouble.

If what you have is working, and there's nothing in the patch worth risking
a smoothly operating system, I'd hold off until there's a need to upgrade.
At that, I would wait about 2 weeks after a patch is released - if it's
still out there after then, it's probably going to stay there.

Keep Admin and Server synced up as closely as is possible.

Mid-Tier can be a version above AR Server if necessary - the last couple of
versions have been helpful in that way.

Re: DSO Issue

2007-09-10 Thread Robert Molenda
In addition to the comments below, start at #3, and ensure you can query
the record(s) in the database, also check for "Retry" entries as I have
seen DSO server (in the past) on restart try to process the retry
records first.

If the records look OK, and you can access the remote server(s) then
logging is a must :-)

IF you are using multiple DSO Pools, you will have to merge all the
"pool logfiles", or look at each one separately.

Hi Frank,

1) Is anything changed which prevents connection to "destination server"
of the DSO mapping

2) Try collecting the DSO log. In addition to the regular log file,
there is one more *.log.default. This file contains detailed
intermediate actions which take place during DSO transfer. I am guessing
that you may get some clue even if the DSO is crashing.

3) You may look at the form Distributed Pending. See whether the oldest
is getting processed or not. If DSO is crashing is crashing while
processing same record, there could be some data issue.

Hope you will get some clue from the above steps.

If you have the MS-SQL 2K5 server disk, just install the client component.
It will not create any folder or anything but install a dll file that the
ARS installation will use to connect to SQL 2K5 servers on your network. So
when you give the installation the necessary information to connect to the
SQL server, it will be channeled through this client.

However, it doesn't even get to the point of asking the server to

Any suggestions?

The M200 Volantor Becomes A Viable Product

As the Rotapower® engine enters high volume production for a variety of
applications, we believe its unit cost will fall dramatically. The
engines are the most expensive components in the M200 so as engine
production ramps up, the costs of the M200 are expected to decline.

Initially we expect to sell the M200G for prices between $95,000 and
$145,000 depending on options.

Jarl,

I agree that SOAP is the hottest integration technology when it comes to
sharing data between enterprises, but I think there are still cases where
in-house you might want the tighter integration and sheer convenience an
ARDBC

It's astonishing how many organizations are still, after all these years,
relying on nightly CSV dumps from external databases. Where's that

Re: Question: Finding Text

2007-09-10 Thread Thad K Esser
Based on what you said about the text always starting with "Street
Address:", you could also use something like:

ztmpfield = LTRIM(REPLACE($AddressField$,"Street Address:",""))

Takes care of it without any other string manipulations. Or since you
know the text "Street Address:" is always going to be 15 characters, and
always going to be at the beginning of the string you could do:
ztmpfield = LTRIM(SUBSTR($AddressField$,15))

The LTRIM clears any whitespace that might show up between the colon and
the start of the data. It might not be necessary depending on what is
generating this (i.e., whether or not you know it will be there).

Tyron,

You can use the function STRSTR($FieldToSearchYourString$, "Street
Address:") + LEN("Street Address:") to return an integer value of the
position where "Street Address:" ends in your string
$FieldToSearchYourString$. Then do what you want to do with that..

Let me know if that helped - or if you require any further help using a
combination of these functions..

I was wondering how I would take a field with (zero character length) and
through workflow find a specific text (i.e. 123 Jones Avenue) and set it
to a temporary field. The text I am looking for will not necessarily be

Is this possible?

I'm attempting to install 5.1.2 onto a Win2k3

connecting up to a SQL 2005 server. After reading through the archives,
I've set the sp_dbcmptlevel for SQL 2000 (as per our 5.1.2 live system).

However, it doesn't even get to the point of
asking the server to install to - I get the "Cannot load database

Any suggestions?

Re: Request ID "In Process"

2007-09-10 Thread Joe D'Souza
SLM and assignment processes are really not related in their functions so
the installation of SLM should not really affect anything to the process of
assignment. Its the success of the assignment process on raising a SR that
an incident gets created and you get a Incident Id instead of the "In
Process" string.

If this is a development server, I'd suggest to take a Filter Log and see if
you can spot anything useful there. You may have already done that. Did you
notice anything?

This problem I would say started when the SLM was installed. The server
team did the installation of SLM about a week after the installation of
Service Management, so I am not sure when the assignment engine was
installed and if they run into error. I will check with them next week.
Before the installation of SLM, I created 2 tickets without any problem.

  Thank you.

SLM should not interfere with the assignment process.. Did you get any
errors at the time you had installed your assignment engine? That I would
think would have more bearing on a non working assignment process than
installation of SLM..

During the configuration of assignments, there are check boxes for
processes you want that assignment for e.g. Incident, Problem etc.. Make
sure your assignment record isn't lacking anything. Also make sure your
status of that assignment record isn't anything but Active..

Look at the stuck request sitting in the SRM:Requests form. Take all
the values there and punch it in manually into the incident form and then
try to submit it. It will probably give you the same error. Otherwise I'd
recommend looking at these two filters:

HPD:HII:CreateIncident_040_SetAsgmntGrpID

It's telling you that there is no automatic assignee group for
requests submitted through the Requester console, and you must have
specified in your setup that assignments were to happen automatically.
Specify some default assignee group (like your Tier 1) for those tickets,
and I think your error will be resolved.

Re: ITSM Data Model

2007-09-10 Thread Uday Joshi

Hi Frex,

Sorry for responding late. But I came across some white paper explaining
architecture of various module in ITSM. It does include ERDs.

Example visit following link for Change management

http://www.bmc.com/supportu/documents/57/47/65747/65747.pdf

It may give some insight to the application.

Best Regards,

Hi Everyone,

Need to extract some data from ITSM6.0 (Oracel Level). I have not been
told what data to extract yet :) But would like to take a look at, if
you have any, some data model or a doc with an overview of the ITSM
forms/views and their relationship.

Hope I am not asking too much :)

Have a nice day.

Getting to the point of selecting the database type (SQL Server, oracle,
etc.), click on that and get "Cannot load database connection DLL".

All the SQL servers are on other boxes, so its not a local SQL 2K5 thats

Good Morning Listers!

We are developing Assignment rules for ARS7.1/ITSM7, and I hope this group can
educate me as to observed behavior. Modifications aremild and few--ITSM is
mostly OOB.

By my understanding, assignment rules follow these behaviors,in this sequence:

1. Higher-number-of-logic-matches prevails, in case of multiple rulesbeing
satisfied for one ticket--so the rule with the lesser match willnot be utilized.

2. Then, sort order governs, with lowest-numerical-sort-order dominant.

3. Finally, does this triage follow the principle of 'only one assignmentmade'?
I have constructed several trials where more than one rule(of one
type--"General", "Ownership") seemed to be implementedsequentially, with
last-rule-executed being results actually recorded.

I have encountered multiple examples where the HIGHER (later) sortnumber
prevailed, among equally-valid qualification criteria (situationdeliberately
chosen for this purpose.).

Any observations from you folks would be most helpful.

5.1.2 install problems

2007-09-10 Thread Barber, Dave
All,

I'm attempting to install 5.1.2 onto a Win2k3 VMWare session as our
development system. Ideally it should be connecting up to a SQL 2005
server. After reading through the archives, I've set the sp_dbcmptlevel
for SQL 2000 (as per our 5.1.2 live system).

However, it doesn't even get to the point of asking the server to
install to - I get the "Cannot load database connection DLL" error pop
up regardless of what I do.

Any suggestions?

Hi Donanswers interspersed.

1. Are you having the same results in each application? Change,

2. Did you configure the applications to use the assignment engine?
A> "Assignment Configuration" records are generated from within

3. Did you configure them to us Capacity, number or round robin?

customer-service structure is
105 support groups located within 16 colleges, schools, and other
top-level organizations.
Few of these groups will hold full FUNCTIONAL responsibility for

Good Morning Listers!

We are developing Assignment rules for ARS7.1/ITSM7, and I hope
this group can educate me as to observed behavior. Modifications are
mild and few--ITSM is mostly OOB.

By my understanding, assignment rules follow these behaviors,
in this sequence:

1. Higher-number-of-logic-matches prevails, in case of multiple rules
being satisfied for one ticket--so the rule with the lesser match will
not be utilized.

2. Then, sort order governs, with lowest-numerical-sort-order
dominant.

3. Finally, does this triage follow the principle of 'only one
assignment
made'? I have constructed several trials where more than one rule
(of one type--"General", "Ownership") seemed to be implemented
sequentially, with last-rule-executed being results actually recorded.

I have encountered multiple examples where the HIGHER (later) sort
number prevailed, among equally-valid qualification criteria
(situation
deliberately chosen for this purpose.).

Any observations from you folks would be most helpful.

Re: DSO Issue

2007-09-10 Thread Uday Joshi

Best Regards,

Uday Joshi

** Having issue with DSO. All of a sudden it is crashing. I start it up
and then it crashes with a CORE file. I tried stopping and restarting
ARS and everything starts OK except for DSO. As far as I know nothing
has changed on the server. I generated a TRUSS file but did not see
anything -- although there was lots output and not everything I
understood :)

Any thoughts on what to look at.

Re: Instance ID

2007-09-10 Thread Murtuza B
Known Issue. This was solved by CMDB 1.1 Patch 003 for me.
I had this problem only while generating CMDB instance IDs though.

If you are having it with plain ARS, then try a higher patch for ARS.
