Re: Populating the BMC_Person
Strange, then, that the latest data in the auto-impact feature doesn't include the person class. The software license management engine has out-of-the-box license types that use the person CI's to help calculate license compliance - this is why I understood that the person CI's were being created. Theo The use of manipulating strings for instructions has been going on for years. Look at the Run process action being overloaded with perform action. Run process has been treated like a script element, which I would applaud if it meant that workflow could be written with scripts, ie one could write ten lines of script to run with a form (as they can do with HP Service Manager). Any application that's spending time checking strings for `! or trying to interpret run process strings that may be script instructions, is an application that's going to consume more memory and run more slowly than an application that's compiled script into byte code (ie Python/Java). One catch that I found was that the e-mail engine (or something) was set on replacing all newlines in the message content with BR tags. Re: Populating the BMC_Person
I would have expected a configuration setting Yes/No to generate CMDB records when CTM:People records are created. Even better there could have been a setting on the people record itself to generate CMDB record? Hello Joe, We have an integration point with OIM, however we setup the integration using API. We are using OIM by updating our people form data, as well as using it for provisioning purposes. For instance we are using the Kinetic Request system and use OIM to auto provision parts of the request by passing infomration to OIM and having OIM provision active directory related access. We also have OIM create the Remedy people profile as well as the permissions, functional roles, and support group associations. Let me know if you have any further questions. Hi Jamie, We were / still are planning to leverage the use of SPML to achieve the integration, unless it is not possible to use those OTB resources because of compatibility reasons. I was wondering if anyone has successfully used those OTB resources (web services) published by OIM using plain and ordinary set field filter actions that set values from WSDL.. Re: automatically creates a Tickets
Sagar, If I understood you right, you need to create multiple tickets from information that is provided to you in some sort of a file? Where are you getting that file from? Another system? User input on a flat file or excel file? I think in order to better help you, it might help if we know the source from where your input is coming from, and the possibilities of manipulating both the format and possibly even the 'transport' of that information.. There is more than one method. ARImport as you mentioned is one. Or you could create an ARM file for that form, which is a mail template for the information to be sent, and can be sent as separate emails for each entry.. Then off course there are other integration points such as view forms, web services, and what not depending on your source. So if you can let us know a little more about your source, we should be better able to help you.. Sagar, The Crystal Reports 'Engine' IS NOT installed with the AR System. When you install the AR User Tool, you have the option of installing the Crystal Reports 'Viewer' libraries that allow you to open a CR on your client. You have to purchase Crystal Reports Engine separately to create reports and install it separately. Re: Status Closed to reopen
You would need to further customize your customized system, to disallow users from specific groups to not change Status when the DB.Status is closed using filters. Looks like you might not be familiar with comparing Transactional values of an entry to the Database entries using Filters. You need to read up on that and use those concepts to trap users trying to open tickets that are closed with an error if they do not belong to a particular group (use 'Application-Confirm-Group' for that instead of comparing $GROUPS$). If you do not have any OTB applications, I do not think you got too much to worry about. Have you customized any of the core forms? Core workflow? By that I mean forms like the User, Group, Email Engine forms, etc.. If your answer to this is no, you can go your merry way as you might have in previous versions.. If you have customized these core forms and workflow, you might want to check with BMC if they have a hash file for just the core components, so that you can create the overlay layer for those customizations. And then go your merry way with what you want to do with your in house stuff.. Product Catalog
Hi, In development, we currently have an installed version of the Product Catalog 7.6.4 on Solaris/Unix. We would like to wipe it clean and start from scratch. There supposedly is a maintenance tool that runs on the Unix server that hosts the Remedy system. Not sure where this file/tool is. Does this tool manage the cleanup? I read thru the Product Catalog DML docs, however I was unable to figure out how to re-install the product catalog. We have existing CI's on Dev. What will happen to the CIs in Dev when I wipe out the current product catalog entries? And how do I re-associate the new product catalog categorizations to the existing CIs in Dev? I hope this will not wipe out the people CI's. I have done an product catalog updates before by importing the data into the staging PDL tables, however this is different. All the files that I saw on the EPDs were downloads for updates (Sp1/SP2). How do I reinstall the product catalog? Are there any things that I need to watch out for? Ditto to what Joe said. We moved from 7.1 p7 to 7.6.04 SP2. We simply just created def files of all of our custom forms and then used RRRCHIVE to move the data. Something you may want to think about? Then I don't think you would need to use the interim 7.1 server? Up to you. We had about 517 forms to move (plus all the workflow). It really wasn't that bad Thanks! Re: automatically creates a Tickets
You can use Meta-Update for this. With Meta-Update you will not need any staging forms or merge workflow. With Meta-Update any errors are automatically logged and the input file records that caused the errors can be automatically replicated to a different file. Any needed data can be loaded or set. With Meta-Update, development savings over staging forms etc. are in the order of magnitude scale. Try logging into the database (SQL client) as ARADMIN and run this query.. select count(*) from actlink where name = ‘My active link name’; Obviously type in your exact name of the active link (case sensitive). Are you sure you attached the active link to the right form??? If not you will not see it on that list.. Also why don’t you associate the AL to the field directly when you are editing the AL?? I would think that is a easier one step approach rather than creating an AL and then saving and closing it, opening the form its tied to, and then attaching it from the properties of the field.. Re: Transferring in-house 6.3 code to a 7.6.04 server
David, I understand you going to 7.6x on solaris, but maybe you will see issue like, what we when thru. We when from 6.3p20 to 7.5.p4 on UNIX with 10g - custom service and change environment. As Joe pointed, if you have not customized core forms: user:group, etc.. you should be good but then you may get minor errors example the user form gave us a box 4 error, which made the installer fail. Basically delete the view (not the table) that is given the issue. We did this, copy your production to test, and run the upgrade work thru the kinks. Blow the test away again, do it again, to smooth out the process and steps. This way you can work with BMC on the issues. We found the installer failed many times,.. we did a gradual, installing each component at a time, and work thru the errors. - ar servers - ardbc - area - fb - email engine (our MT is on a separate server). -- View this message in context: http://ars-action-request-system.1093659.n2.nabble.com/Transferring-in-house-6-3-code-to-a-7-6-04-server-tp7453426p7453807.html Sent from the ARS (Action Request System) mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org attend wwrug12 www.wwrug12.com ARSList: Where the Answers Are

No there is no AL listed on the right side. I counted 215 AL if the Incident Manager Console is the primary form and then counted the AL that are on the left side with Show available Active Links checked and it is only showing 126. If I unchecked the Show available Active Links the count jumps up to 276 AL tied to the form. Java API connection pool question..
Hello List, Senario, Browser -- Loadbalancer -- 2 http server -- UNIX + Websphere App Server (MT) -- F/W-- ARSERVER UNIX + DB=Oracle 10g) This is the first time the ARS is behind firewall. The firewall flushes connection on each session every hour. Midtier configuration session timeout is set to 60 min. We see slow/long logins and 'out of state session in the firewall. So if the Connections to arserver are from the Java API connection pool, - How can the connection pool be managed? - If the keepalive protocol is enabled, will this keep session to database open? - If the connection pool is has stale connection, how can they flushed immediately such that less time to create new session? - if the unix default keepalive 2 hour variable is changed to 1hour, how does this impact the Java API connection pool. Basically, how can we either keep the session alive across a f/w that flushes sessions every hour? or Manage the pool to flush stale connections very quickly, such that establishing another session (login) is in seconds rather than minutes? -- View this message in context: http://ars-action-request-system.1093659.n2.nabble.com/Java-API-connection-pool-question-tp7454090p7454090.html Sent from the ARS (Action Request System) mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org attend wwrug12 www.wwrug12.com ARSList: Where the Answers Are

Re: Caught exception :invalid operand to in
This error will occur when one of the columns in the table field has a NULL header. Edit the field properties for the table field. On the Table / Tree property tab, find the null column title and add some text for the column title. Another option is to hide the column that has a null header. This can be done by editting the field properties for the column and clicking on the Hidden box to hide the column. This is expected behavior since the parent window must have been closed first. Correct procedure is to close Midtier dialog first then the Browse dialog. You may need to re-position the Midtier dialog, in order to close it first i.e. bring the Midtier dialog to foreground close it then close the Browser dialog Also, the timing of Browser dialog box cannot be controlled. Thus, you may find their appearances to be over-lapping. Re: Transferring in-house 6.3 code to a 7.6.04 server
A very useful tip: Many of you may know this.. If you MUST write a Direct SQL, you NEVER should write SQL directly to T tables.. Instead write them against the view name.. for eg if you wanted to write one for the HPD:HelpDesk form whose table is lets say T654 do not write it to T654.. Describe HPD_HelpDesk and write it to that.. Then the upgrade would be seamless as the view name never changes.. You may want to consider a project where if you have Direct SQL’s to the T tables, convert them to address the view names..
