[beagleboard] RE: MotorBridgeCape and Not Working/Seth

2016-04-24 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

I have tried to use my MotorBridgeCape from the BBG and SeeedStudio.com. I
have been unsuccessful so far. I read some forum at SeeedStudio.com but I
have been unable to understand why something they typed up in 2014 does not
currently work (04/2016).

Now, here are some photographs to better assist in the idea behind why I
cannot get my Cape to work on the BBG. Oh and I had to use WinSCP to change
the file names in the Linux system because when I unzip their .zip file to
update firmware on the MotorBridgeCape, I get loads of errors.

Here goes it:

and...

and...

Now...

With these three images, hopefully someone out there can offer assistance.

Seth

P.S. If you need any other info, please contact me.

Hello,

I have Angstrom as a primary system for my BBB. I think I may have one of

Nevertheless...I still use it for learning and getting to know hardware and

Can I get Debian on my BBB from Angstrom?

Hello,

I am working out of a book. It is called "30 Beaglebone Black Projects for
the Evil Genius." The author has a GitHub.com page online
at https://github.com/ChristopherRush/BB-Evil-Genius. I am on Project16.js
and Project16.html. I have gotten scores of error codes. I have been
unsuccessful updating my Bonescript and Socket.io languages on the BBGW.

If there are any people out there working out of this specific book, please

I know it is me that cannot make the software work with my current

Hello...using Win 10 OS has a drawback on unsigned drivers. You have to
follow these
instructions:
http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/.

[beagleboard] RE: The BBBL and BBBW and BBGW and Stuff/Seth

2017-04-05 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

I have some boards from the BeagleBoard.org business. I like these boards.
I use them and I learn with the boards. I just came across the BBBW and
BBBL. I decided to reach out and get them. Quickly, I was stopped by the
"Wall of Linux" in the field of WiFi. I realized that I learned how to
perform specific tasks in Linux but not how to set up WiFi.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I am supposed to set up WiFi? If you know
and if you are willing to share, this would be superb. And yes, that word
is superb. I have not used that word in a bit and I needed to use it once
more.

Seth

P.S. I have been working more with the Motor Bridge Cape and the BBG
lately. All I can remember from the book by Molloy on setting up WiFi was
that it does not work. Please send some sort of guidance. I can program
them and make the boards useful but I would rather set up WiFi, update my
board with a new .img file, and then spawn from there. Shoot!

[beagleboard] RE: The Arrow BBB and PuTTY/Cloud9

2017-04-07 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

Is there a specific kernel and/or Debian Distro that does not work with the
Arrow BBB? I am asking because I just received a BBB from the Arrow MFG.
group and the board has not worked so far. I have tried to update the
image, I have used PuTTY/Cloud9, and I have updated the PuTTY software
thinking this would be an issue. Although this fixed some of the
connectivity issues with my other boards, it did not fix the connectivity
issue with the Arrow BBB. Besides that mess, I ordered a Rev. C and got a
Rev. A.

Seth

P.S. I am dealing with the Arrow people now at Arrow.com but just in case
this is my issue, I need to find a way to make my board work on my system.
I have downloaded the required software drivers and plugged the sucker in.
I still cannot advance to the online part to my board. I have been unable
to even get PuTTY and Cloud9 recognize that my board is plugged in. My
computer shows the file system but I cannot get it to work for some reason.
Aw!

[beagleboard] Re: connmanctl

2017-04-07 Thread Mala Dies
Hey Yo,

*connmanctl *is used as the initial command
from https://01.org/connman/documentation.

Then, you have to type in, while under the command connmanctl, *wifi enable*.
While still under the connmanctl command, type in *wifi scan* and then type
*services*. It will show your *wifi_blah, blah, blah, blah, blah_blah,
blah, blah_managed_psk *Wifi address to type in once you type *agent on*
and then *connect*. So you would type this under connmanctl:

wifi enable

wifi scan

services

agent on

connect wifi___managed_psk

then...

You will be asked for a password. Enter the password you have for your
router.

Done! I was taught this earlier today.

Seth

P.S. Enjoy!

Issue 2: Should I use another host or port? I have no clue and the people
from Flask sent me back to the "you people." BBB! Oh and the BBBW!

Seth

P.S. If you have any ideas, hit me up. I sure could use some three-year
hiatus fixes.

[beagleboard] Re: Working with Flask and Apps with Port 81

2017-04-11 Thread Mala Dies
Hello...I figured I could do some damage to the software but nope. I just
changed the 0.0.0.0:81 host:port values and BAM, it worked.

With Flask, use your BBB SSH sign in credentials (IP address) for the host
and use port 5000. This should work universally with older model books that
want to use other hosts and ports, e.g. that are outdated or no longer used
with specific software.

Seth

P.S. Enjoy!

[beagleboard] Hey Yo! I Need It!

2017-04-11 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

I was just out there wondering one day what type of Terminals are located
on the BBBL. So, what type of terminals are located on this thing?

I see there is a battery, LiPo input section and some servo connectors. I
see a bunch of what look like Grove terminals on this thing. What are they
actually called? I would like to know so I can find out exactly what I need
to do to make connections or for me and the purchasing thing in life.

Seth

P.S. Any ideas would be very beneficial, i.e. to me only. I am sure I could
build something, post a build, and then coordinate but I just, for now,
need to know the names of these connections/terminals for the BBBL. For
Dell's sake, I live in Louisiana. Everything is backward here and no one
has MCUs for selling or any information on this type of stuff unless I am
dealing with Oil and Gas.

If you are using any of the WiFi boards from Beagleboard.org, use

It is what I found to be helpful. I got this info. from their people that

[beagleboard] RE: TMP36 and BoneScript on BBB/Hello

2017-04-14 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

I am on P9_40 with my TMP36 temperature sensor. I used the book, "30
BeagleBone Black Projects." It is lesson number 11. It has some BoneScript
lessons but I think the book is outdated. Does anyone know of the updates
and how it pertains to temperature sensors?

Seth

P.S. Here is the software I cannot get to read. I am going to try and set
it up in Cloud9 instead of on PuTTY and see what happens.

var b = require('bonescript');

var inputPin = "P9_40";

getBeagleTemp();

function getBeagleTemp();
var value = b.analogRead(inputPin);

var millivolts = value * 1800;
var temp_c = ( millivolts - 500)/10;

setTimeout(getBeagleTemp, 1000);

console.log(temp_c);
}

tried to download, via npm, bonescript to see if there were any updates. I
received a bunch of error codes. I guess I am just going to try the Cloud9
IDE for now.

Um, if anyone needs to see the bonescript download error codes, let me
know. Oh and the first error while downloading bonescript was a node issue.
Bonescript must use an update version of node while what I need is an
outdated version of node.

Seth

P.S. If anyone can make that software work, let me know. Oh and BBB!

Hello,

What version of node should I be running on a BBB?

Seth

P.S. I think because I attempted to download a version of node that
bonescript does not accept, I am busted. Anyway, please reply!

Hello Again,

Thank you. I will look into it. I know very little about node.js. I have
been following some books on the BBB. I just know how to run .js files with

[beagleboard] RE: The uEnv.txt File and Changing to "Have Full Control"

2017-04-21 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

How would I set "uenvcmd" to have full control?

Seth

P.S. I am asking because I set up a PWM script from an Adafruit software
thing to run a Python program to fade a Diffused LED. I am getting some
errors. The command line returns a RuntimeError. When I enable all comments
in the /boot/uEnv.txt file, I get a system that is unresponsive when I
reboot or shutdown and then boot.

Hello Again,

Maybe some extra input would help. I get RuntimeError: Problem with the
Cape Manager, when I run:

*import Adafruit_BBIO.PWM as PWM*
*import time*

*red = "P8_13"*
*green = "P8_19"*
*blue = "P9_14"*

*PWM.start(red, 0)*
*PWM.start(blue, 0)*
*PWM.start(green, 0)*

*def fade(colorA, colorB, ignore_color):*
*PWM.set_duty_cycle(ignore_color, 100)*
*for i in range(0, 100):*
*PWM.set_duty_cycle(colorA, i)*
*PWM.set_duty_cycle(colorB, 100-i)*
*time.sleep(0.05)*
*while True:*
*fade(red, green, blue)*
*fade(green, blue, red)*
*fade(blue, red, green)*

I have set *cape_enable=bone_capemgr.enable_partno= *to enable.

Seth

P.S. If you know of what mistake I am making in my setup of the BBB with
regards to the Cape Manager, please try to explain or I will keep trying
(as usual). Cool!

Hello,

I found PWM(1A, 2B, 2A) to be well suited for the software on this
discussion/question in the cape_mgr on my BBB. This is what I mean. I
installed those PWM pins at cape_enable=bone_capemgr.enable_partno= to make
it cape_enable=bone_capemgr.enable_partno=PWM1A, i.e. and etc. There is
only one section listed for me to enable these pins.

I need three PWM pins available to run this software.

Seth

P.S. Any advice will be okay. I am going to try and run *slots* to see if I
can add some PWM pins.

   - This site gives me some basic background info. on a procedure.
  - I tried it.
   - I keep getting a repetitive screen that establishes itself over and

   - I cannot find out how to control my tightvnc viewer either.

Send applause or suggestions. Either/or would be nice.

P.S. For instance, imagine the screen you are viewing right now cascading

[beagleboard] Re: MikroBus Cape quick-start with drivers?

2017-06-07 Thread Mala Dies
Hello...I tried to get the MikroBus Cape up and running. They had some
info. on the mikroe.com site for specific clicks but you, as I believe,
would need the compilers from their site.

Seth

P.S. I tried to get around things but I suck at this game. I kept trying
and to no avail. If I get any closer, I will post again.

[beagleboard] RE: Um...My Temp in F Degrees is the Same as the C Degrees/Dang!

2017-06-29 Thread Mala Dies
var b = require('bonescript');

function readTemp() {
b.analogRead('P9_39', displayTemp);
}

function displayTemp(reading) {
var millivolts = reading.value * 1800;
var tempC = (millivolts - 500) / 10;
var tempF = (tempC * 9/5) + 32
console.log("TempC = " + tempC + "\t Temp F = " + tempF);
}

setInterval(readTemp, 10);

Okay...

This is my software from "Programming the BeagleBone Black" in the
"hardware interfacing" section. I am messing with a TMP36 sensor for analog
temp. reads.

The issue is this:

I keep getting a similar read for my C and F reads. I should be able to get
the F read but unfortunately, I get the same as the C read.

Seth

P.S. Try your TMP36 sensor and this software and get back to me. I would
love to know about the value(s) I am creating and why they are returning
the listed read(s). Oh and here is a photo. See!

Re: [beagleboard] RE: Um...My Temp in F Degrees is the Same as the C Degrees/Dang!

2017-06-29 Thread Mala Dies
Hello Rob,

Seth here. I am located in the states. There is a big fault and I am not
clued in, obviously. How is F == C? I figured that there would be a part to
the software, the section that displays the difference, that tells me/you
the C and F reads.

Seth

P.S. I am in about an 80 degree temp. right now. So, do I need to replace
"reading.value" with an actual numerical value? I will keep trying.

[beagleboard] RE: ECMA-262/2015

2017-06-30 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

If there are any ECMA-262 enthusiasts, let me know. It was done in 2015 and
holds until this hour, i.e. I think. Anyway, I am still learning what I can
when I can.

If I was to learn how to use JavaScript easier in my life, I think that the
BBB and all variants would be an easier task for me. This is esp. true with
all the sensors we can get our hands on.

...

So,

If you are working
on, http://www.ecma-international.org/ecma-262/6.0/ECMA-262.pdf, JavaScript
and you want to learn alongside with me with the BBB and the various boards
produced by the bbb.io persons, just chime in.

Seth

P.S. Although my time is limited, I would like to start on a project with a
couple of people who are looking to not know all too much but would like to
try to learn how to know things. Seriously! This is now a discussion. Oh
and does anyone know what form of JavaScript we are using in our BBB or can
we just pick and choose? Aw!

2017-06-30 Thread Mala Dies
Hello Again,

I asked this/these question(s) earlier because I need a BBB pal. I am
planning on picking up some type of sensor and working with it for fun.
Now, I have found a site called analog.com. Analog.com has a Wiki with a
Linux reference,
e.g. https://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/linux-drivers-all. I
was thinking we could pick some type of sensor and then go from that point.

Seth

P.S. We could we, we, we, all the way home or make bacon. I say we make
bacon. So, if you would like and if you are interested, let us discuss and
each purchase a Linux compatible device to test out with software.
Hopefully, we can use Python or JavaScript. Who knows? I could learn a
thing or two.

Hello Rob,

Seth here, again. I tried out the *(reading.value / 4096.0) * 1800;* in the
software. It tells me that I have a temperature of -49.99 degrees in
Celsius. I am trying to make believe my calculations from the software are
correct with the inside/climate controlled temp. in this house.

...

49 degrees in Celsius is 120.xx in Fahrenheit. This seems extreme. It is
extreme. I have my temp on 80 degrees in Fahrenheit. I was expecting a
degree in Celsius of 26 or 27 from my reads. If you have any ideas, please
let me know. I am pretty sure you are very busy and do not have complete
time to dedicate to me. I understand completely.

Seth

P.S. Oh and I cut out the temp. transfer from Celsius to Fahrenheit in the
software. This is how the 49.xx came to be. I tried more than one TMP36
sensor. I will keep trying for this project I plan on keeping in time.
Oh...is there a type of ADC we are using that can be researched? Can I find
this ADC name and brand in the SRM?

[beagleboard] Re: connmanctl

2017-07-08 Thread Mala Dies
Hello Again,

Did you try sudo instead of just connmanctl? If so, I am at a standstill. I
have to use sudo connmanctl to run my set-up for the WiFi.

Seth

P.S. If you try a newer version of the listed images, I am sure it will
work. You can *skip* the wifi enable and wifi scan if you use the newer
images. You can start with services and agent on.

[beagleboard] Re: Um...My Temp in F Degrees is the Same as the C Degrees/Dang!

2017-07-08 Thread Mala Dies
Hello Dennis,

Seth here. Thank you for all that info. I will look further into the
specification sheet on this particular product. Now, I know this is not
your issue but here goes...

I try to finish each book I get, i.e. no matter the changes in the kernel,
image, and/or software I use. It is just a hobby for me as of now. I get
the V and mV difference. I get basic math but I was unaware of the offset.
The book, Programming the BeagleBone Black (Monk), stated something
different. I was not expecting to see my readings as similar values. I
understand a little more now.

The book had the readings at various temperatures, e.g. Fahrenheit was a
completely different value compared to Celsius. This is the only reason I
am in awe. I thought it was as easy as software, hardware, book, and
understandings. I know now that I will need to delve deeper into learning
before asking anything.

Seth

P.S. Sometimes I take time out to try out new books and software on the BBB
and the other variations of that specific board. I am far from a "real
McCoy" programmer that knows everything. I really do appreciate you helping
me to better understand.

Hello Dennis,

Seth here, again. Thank you again for all this info. I will look into it.
It may take me a while to reply next time. I need to order some POTs and
try the task at hand.

Seth

P.S. I could have burnt it out a while back on the TMP36. I will try a
different pin too. I should be able to get back to you on the different pin
soon.

[beagleboard] RE: Same Ole Game, Different Take/Seth

2017-07-10 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

I have another set of software that I picked up along the way, i.e.
probably from that book, "Evil Genuis," series from Mr. Rush. Anyway, here
goes it. Oh but first, I know people are getting tired of seeing the same
ole, same ole. This does not discourage me from posting.

*var b = require('bonescript');*

*var inputPin = "P9_40";*

*getBeagleTemp();*

*function getBeagleTemp() {*
*var value = b.analogRead("P9_40");*

*var millivolts = value * 1800;*
*var x = (millivolts - 500)/10;*
*var z = (x * 9/5) - 32;*
*setTimeout(getBeagleTemp, 1);*

*console.log("x=" + x + "\tz=" + z);*
*}*

Now,

I tried this software some and changed it a bit to suit my needs. As you
all know, I am not 100% legit in the programming field, i.e. even though I
try.

I am getting temperatures in the Fahrenheit of 201 and in Celsius of 129.
This is not my temp. in the house.

Seth

P.S. If anyone has any other recommendations, please let me know. Please
let me know what you think.

2017-07-11 Thread Mala Dies
Hello Dennis,

Yep...I changed the wiring and changed a uEnv.txt file in the /boot
directory. I have the P9_40/AIN1 pin connect now instead of the P9_39/AIN0.
When I stated that I changed a file, I changed the file to enable
BB-ADC1,BB-ADC2 instead of having it enabled at BB-AIN0, BB-AIN1.

The software is completely different too. I used this set of software to
check the TMP36 just like the older software I used in a post not too long
ago.

Seth

P.S. I will work backwards like you are discussing and I will keep trying.
I know I should have some pins enabled with my Cape Universal disabled. I
am probably way off base but this is what I have done so far. Sorry for not
giving every detail. I will wait to hear from you again while attempt to
work some magic.

[beagleboard] Re: Same Ole Game, Different Take/Seth

2017-07-11 Thread Mala Dies
Hello Again Mr. Dennis,

Seth here. I have done some small time work on what wiring I have
concocted. Here goes:

TMP36:

Pin 1 is + Vs and it is connected to P9_34 or GNDA_ADC.

Pin 2 is Vout and it is connected to P9_40 or AIN1.

and...

Pin 3 is GND and it is connected to P9_03 or VDD_3V3.

Now...I have been wrong before and I am just listening to the info. from
the book. I will do some extra research on this project from the
schematic:
http://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/TMP35_36_37.pdf.

I got this link from Digi Key. They still sell these TMP36 sensors.

Seth

P.S. If you get bored, let me know what you think. Oh and I just changed
the uEnv.txt file in the /boot directory to
enable=BB-AIN1,BB-GNDA_ADC,VDD_3V3 and then I rebooted the machine. I am
getting an exact read of the 130 C degrees and 201 F degrees. I think this
will better suit your needs if you are choosing to still help me out. Thank
you again, sir.

Hello Again,

I read the schematic on the book. The book states via photo to wire things
up this way.

Hello,

The instructions on the book said to connect the pins of the TMP36 via
jumper wires to the BBB/BBGW in that manner. I am using a BBGW instead of
the BBB or BBBW for this project.

P.S. Should I have the jumper wires connecting to different pins on the

Hello,

So,

TMP36:

+ Vs is now at VDD_3V3

GND is now at DGND

I did configure the old software to work but this is easier.

Hello Sir,

Supposedly, the GNDA_ADC pin on the BBGW makes less noise. This noise would
create a higher fluctuation of distance from the actual temp. in the
environment.

Seth

P.S. Now, the GND to VDD_3V3 had some idea behind it but was not listed in
the book. I had to put value at 63 degrees Celsius but it was still off by
about two degrees with the old software and old hook-up. Now, the temp. is
still off by about 10 degrees in Fahrenheit with the correct hook-up and
current software.

Hello,

I am using a couple different books. I am using the Programming the
BeagleBone Black from Monk and another book called Evil Genius by Rush. It
is a similar book on the BBB. I had some odd connections at first. You are
right. I guess I am learning what I am doing.

Seth

P.S. I lost track of all the info. I have accumulated over the last year. I
will try to keep better records. If you have any questions, let me know. I
will look up some items on what I am discussing. I got the readings from
the BBGW to list Celsius and Fahrenheit near what the house is listing on
the dial. I am still about 10 degrees off, though.

[beagleboard] TMP36 and Software and The Info. Was Correct/Seth

2017-07-15 Thread Mala Dies

Hello,

This is the print or reading from the software I produced from the book. It
works.

I tried a BBB with Grove Cape and it shut the board down and would not
power on. I tried it on the BBGW and it fried my TMP36 sensor. I touched
the sensor and it was blistering hot. I got burned, i.e. you mothers.

So, in hindsight, I will stick with the BBB and BBBW for now. I have an
older model that is only 2GB. It worked right from the get-go.

Here is the software and it works with GNDA_ADC and pin 'P9_40'.

var b = require('bonescript');

function readTemp() {

   b.analogRead('P9_40', displayTemp);

}

function displayTemp(reading) {

   var millivolts = reading.value * 1800;

   var C = (millivolts - 500) / 10;

   var F = (C * 9/5) + 32

   console.log("C = " + C + "\tF = " + F);

}

setInterval(readTemp, 9000);

So...all is well that ends well.

Seth

[beagleboard] Re: Python program using PWM Not Working at Autostart

2017-07-25 Thread Mala Dies
Tomas,

Did you try the Autorun directory in the Cloud9 IDE? Oh and that is an
older distro. You can type sudo -i to get into root if you are not root
already. One last thing...you may want to update your image and then use
cron if possible. This is another option.

Seth

P.S. You can actually do a grab and drop in that IDE. Just grab the file(s)
and drop them into your Autorun folder. I tried doing this a while back and
it worked. If I come across the way to do it with Debian again, I will post
again.

Hello Graham,

the distro could detect our hardware and if it was in working order or not.
I know of the *i2cdetect *command to see if the hardware is available but I

[beagleboard] "What Was I Thinking" and Learning How Sensors Might Work/Seth

Hello,

I know I have bugged the community with issues pertaining to my TMP36

including Capes").

Here goes:

...cough.

Um, Why would I attach a male to male lead from 3.3v on the BBB to GND on
the TMP36 sensor?

Easier:

*BBB* (3.3v) or P9_03 *to **TMP36* (GND) or Pin 3

I think this is my question. Please try to answer with some type of
understanding for me.

Seth

P.S. I have found some more items regarding this TMP36 sensor, i.e. like
why I am attaching the lead to the BBB on GND_ADC to TMP36 on Pin 1? I
found the info. to the TMP36 sensor
at
http://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/TMP35_36_37.pdf.

Anyway, if you have time one day, please try to make me understand. I
thought GND goes to GND with the lead for some reason.

Hello,

Okay...

TMP36 to BBB:

Pin 3 to 3.3v

Pin 2 to P9_40 (GPIO/Analog)

Pin 1 to P9_34 (GND_ADC/Low noise GND)

I think this should help. I am making a temperature sensor tell me what the
temp. is inside for now.

Seth

P.S. I appreciate you reaching out. Please let me know of what other info.
I need to furnish.

Hello Sir,

I cannot just run a .js file with sudo nodejs temp.js on my BBB. The issue
pertains to nodejs not being installed or something. I went to the
npmjs.org site and found bonescript and tried to start from there. I also
tried nodejs.org to find info. on how to get it on the BBB.

Seth

P.S. I am coming up short for some reason. I did some work with what the
sites have listed at https://www.npmjs.com/package/bonescript
and
https://nodejs.org/en/download/package-manager/#debian-and-ubuntu-based-linux-distributions.

If you or if anyone else is having trouble, please give some advice.

Hello Mr. Dennis,

I am going over the book, "Programming the BeagleBone Black," (Monk 2014)
and I found on page 110 a TMP36 software example with relating a P9 Header

P.S. I am trying to read a TMP36 temp. sensor to tell me Celsius and

Seth here. I am not perfect with JavaScript but I thought working on the

P.S. I will try out your link and learn from there. I appreciate you and

I will try node.js more often. I read a bit online on their site but I keep

I would assume the left most *pin* on the TMP36 temp. sensor when facing
left, away from the board on the left side of the board, would be *Pin 3*,
right?

Seth

P.S. If you have time, please review the photo and get back to me. I have

.js file, 'bonescript' is "noticed" and can be used? I am working directly
in the /home/debian directory. Send guidance or assistance, i.e. either/or.

2017-08-13 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

Most of you know already that I have been testing out old software with
newer kernels and new, updated .img files. I noticed that when I look for
the Cloud9 IDE on the 2GB version of the BBB, I come up empty.

Here:

*uname -a* gives me *Linux beaglebone 4.9.37-ti-r47 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jul
13 22:48:49 UTC 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux*

Should I update to the latest version of Stretch, i.e. 08-06-2017?

Seth

P.S. I guess I just need some updates. Who knows?

2017-08-13 Thread Mala Dies
Hello Sir,

I tried this out. I used that BASH command and it did not locate my
node_modules under /usr/local/lib for some reason. I have the 2 GB version:
Linux beaglebone 4.9.37-ti-r47 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jul 13 22:48:49 UTC 2017
armv7l GNU/Linux. Should I update to the latest release of Stretch?

Seth

P.S. I do not even have node on my system right now for some reason. Oh and
I do not have bonescript located anywhere on my machine either. This is the
issue since I am using an invocation of 'bonescript' via *var b =
require('bonescript'); *in a .js file.

Otay and Hello,

Seth here. I figured out what happened. I found the 1GB Stretch, Console
.img file and downloaded it. I then applied it to my board, i.e. the BBB
2GB. Oops! Anyway...is there a 2GB .img file for the BBB with the weekly
snapshots of Stretch?

P.S. I thought since I had the console .img file, I could use it but only
without the GUI, e.g. only the command line interface.

[beagleboard] Re: UART1 Isn't Reading

2017-09-07 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

My name is Seth. Tomas, you may need to add the *BB-UART1_TXD* and
*BB-UART1_RXD* or whatever pins you are using in the uEnv.txt file. You can
add these specific lines, now this is if the pins are still called this on
your specific board, by going to the */boot* directory and finding your
*uEnv.txt* file. This file can be altered or changed by using vim or emacs
or nano and you would have to change the section
*cape_enable=bone_capemgr.enable_partno=* to
*cape_enable=bone_capemgr.enable_partno=BB-UART1_TXD,BB-UART1_RXD*.

I am pretty sure this is how it is done. Let me know if this works.

Seth

P.S. I have tried to comment the Universal Cape section and delete the
comment on the cape_enable=bone_capemgr.enable_partno= section to try this
override before. It has worked at times.

[beagleboard] Re: ADC.setup() Prevents Python Program from Running at Autostart

2017-09-12 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

Run the CRON job with EDITOR=nano crontab -e and make sure you are root. I
forget what it must take to become root in our new systems. By default, the
Debian Stretch Distro does not place us in the root directory. *sudo -i *will
do it!
