ISDN BRI up but does not ping [7:2712]

2001-05-01 Thread Shoaib Waqar

I am getting trouble in ISDN bri link. I have a
Central site Router 3640 with 12.1.8 IP/IPX plus IOS.
the route has 4 port BRI module. The remote site is
having 2503, all u know that it has 1 port BRI. remote
site is running 11.2.1 version of IOS. The call is
placed using simple DDR commands as:

Cisco 3640 Router
=
Int bri 2/0
ip add 130.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
encap ppp
dialer idle-timeout 300
dialer fast-idle 300
dialer string
dialer-group 1

Remote site (2503):
===

Int bri 0
ip add 130.1.1.2 255.255.255.0
encap ppp
dialer idle-timeout 300
dialer fast-idle 300

In this scenario, a/c to customer need, the central
site is placing call. When the call has placed, and we
see the debug output, it shows all the debug of ppp
negotiations and ISDN events as correct, with the
install route at the end. When i run 'show isdn
status' it shows me all layers up with one active
layer 3 call also. Also 'show isdn active' gives me
successful call to remote site. So nothing seems to be
wrong with config. THE problem is that after
connectivity when i try to ping from central site the
remote site ip address, it times out. I took the 'show
ip route', and it gives me only connected routes but
dont show me the remote LAN network address of each
site which it should give as i m running EIGRP at both
sites. The primary link is working correctly as i have
an SCPC 128K link between the two sites as well and
showing correct routes. The switch type in pakistan
normally we use is basic-net3 (SIEMENS switch). Can
anyone plzz help me, where is the issue?? i have tried
everything, dialer profiles and all. but nothing seems
to be working, i cant ping the other side thru BRI.

Re: ATM interface troubleshooting question. [7:2249]

2001-05-01 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Katson Yeung)

It is not really related to the vpi and vci number It is a PVC on
an AIP card subinterface. The remote end is a . Juniper...

I followed the trouble shooting guide for ATM interface and discovered
it should be related to traffic policying thing... typically
associated with MBS value.

At the Juniper, the MBS (max burst size) value is range from 1 - 255,
and on the manual there is no way to know (or maybe I don't know how)
the MBS so that it is conformed with the telco traffic policying
requirement. On the Juniper, I just set it as 255 (max value)

At the cisco side, I can accurately calculate the MBS value for the
PVC and I observed no crc or frame error.

A service call to telco is made and they said the ATM circuit is
okay So I predicted that it may be the policying thing at Juniper
that make the corrupted thing. Well, can't blame it, it may be due to
a wrong parameter.

Well, I will keep all of you update on this issue...

It depends on how the router is purchased. If it is purchased
directly from Cisco then it doesn't come with IOS, which must be
purchased seperately. If it is purchased through the channel (i.e.
from a distributer), then it will come with IP only (both loaded and on
CD). Either way, the reseller is responsible for making sure the
appropriate version is bought.

Note, that according to Cisco, only the original purchaser is
licenced to use a given copy of IOS. In other words, if you purchase a
router off of E-Bay, you are supposed to buy your own copy of IOS from
a reseller.

BTW, in Canada, I would expect it to cost around $20 when shipped
with a router. If you buy it seperately, it may cost more due to the
overhead of handling such a small order.

Question about IP extended access-list "established" keyword. [7:2716]

2001-05-01 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Katson Yeung)

While reading Richard Stevens book about TCP "RST" bit and "FIN" bit,
I recalled that the "established" keyword in IP extended access-list
will match those packet with "RST" and "ACK" bit set

I know an orderly shutdown of TCP session is "FIN", not "RST". In case
the "established" keyword is used to match those already connected TCP
traffic, why not the "established" keyword matchs both "ACK", "FIN",
and "RST" bits?

Is it most TCP sessions are "abortive release" rather than "orderly
release"?

2001-05-01 Thread Vincent Chong

1)It is very obivous, definitely routing problem.
since show isdn status is active and up, ppp layer is successful.

2)Define static route to the destintaiton network. Link state protocol
is not recommended.
For example, Eigrp will trigger your ISDN always up due to protocol
characteristic. It will constant exchanger
hello packet,. It is not recommended.

RE: ISDN BRI up but does not ping [7:2712]

2001-05-01 Thread Albert Lu

I personally think that using dialer profiles are better than hard coding
the interface. It is also true that there is no dialer-list command to dial
for interesting traffic, and you don't have a route to use the bri interface
so it wouldn't know when to dial.

Wouldn't you need a dialer map command for interfaces, rather than specify
dialer string?

2001-05-01 Thread Will Doyle

Hi,
I think the one major difference between Cisco certs and the others you
mention are the others are vendor specific.
Cisco's certs deal with many RFC based technologies (to many to mention)
that are used by almost every Networking Vendor out there.
Although their are definite slants on some Cisco products the overall
understanding, knowledge, and experiences you get from obtaining the Cisco
certifications can be applied to almost any Network.
I bet they won't have as good an interface though!!

Can anyone tell me what the best point of contact in Cisco is for obtaining

I am thinking this process could take some time

Thanks for your help...

Dear Chong, rite now this is only the testing for DDR,
when the sides will start communicationg, offcourse i
will be using floating static route for this, the main
issue is the ping of neighbor interface , not the LAN
address. I think everyone has misunderstood this
scenario.

I have tried dialer profiles, legacy DDR with dialer
mao statement and with floating static route too, but
still same result, could not ping the neighbor.
Offcourse there is a dialer-list statement to initiate
call:

dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit

RE: ISDN BRI up but does not ping [7:2712]

2001-05-01 Thread Albert Lu

Try using debug dialer events to see if the dialing actually takes place
when you ping. If the dialer doesn't come up, then it could be a dialer
problem. If it does come up, and dialing fails, then it could be an isdn
problem.

I have two 1600's with Dial-in over the serial ports on WIC-1Ts, they work
great, 115kBaud, rather than 38K on aux ports.

Yes i also have used an access-list to prevent eigrp

Could you give the full configuration listing. The partial config is not
enough to debug with.

VCI == Virtual Circuit Identifier
VPI == Virtual Path Identifier

Together they define an "end-to-end" circuit, but you are correct, they
only hold local significance. The actual VCI/VPI may change during it's
transit to the final destination (once it hits a switch, the pair can be
totally changed), just like a DLCI.

They are some reserved VCI/VPIs like
(x can be any integer from 0 to 256?). (not sure on the limits here, VPIs
are not supposed to be as common, the VCI probably have up to 65535 as the
upper bound).

VPI/VCI
x/1

and as the others mentioned

0/5
0/16

They are reserved for signalling or metasignalling. (UNI). I believe
there are even some well known DLCIs as well (reserved). I suppose you
'could' use them, at your own peril.

Token ring MTU to Ethernet MTU [7:2737]

NAT Design [7:2738]

2001-05-01 Thread SH Wesson

I need some advice on NAT design. Here's the scenario.

This is my current scenario. I have my site at RTRA and a LAN there. At
RTRA, all the vendor connections come in through it as shown by Vendor_1 and
Vendor_2. Eventually, there will be Vendor_3, Vendor_4, etc.
  S2
LAN_SwitchRTRA---\
E1\S1 \
  \Vendor_2
  \
Vendor_1

What I want to do is provide NAT such that when Vendor_1, Vendor_2 and
eventually Vendor_3, Vendor_4 access stuff at RTRA, they will be using a NAT
address. I have three questions:

1. Can I configure NAT such that E1 is the "NAT Inside" interface and have
S1 and S2 both as "NAT Outside" interfaces and then of course the statics.

2. Should I have a switch hook up to E2 (not shown in drawing), then hook
Vendor_1, Vendor_2, Vendor_3, etc. hook up to the same VLAN on that switch
and have E2 configure as the only "NAT Outside" interface. That way, E2 is
the only "NAT Outside" interface, but all the Vendors that connect through
that switch will use the same NAT address.

3. Is this sort of NAT recommended to be configure on the core router where
all WAN connections come in or should I have another router that connects
directly to RTRA and then do that through there and use any of the questions
in 1 or 2 as the solution.

Basically, what is the best design for my scenario even if my
solution/question above is not right, any recommendations would be
appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Lost Cisco CD [7:2727]

2001-05-01 Thread Kevin Wigle

Peter,

Just what is the matter with you???

I'm sure that DMR acceptable use policy for email doesn't include this kind
of abuse.

Sure Patrick simply stated the obvious - but he didn't do it in an ignorant
way like your response.

If you don't know that requesting help from your Cisco rep to replace a lost
CD is obvious then his advice was helpful.

Otherwise you do yourself and your company a dis-service by going off the
deep end here.

If I were Patrick I would send this thread to hr @ DMR and ask their opinion
if this is the type of "advertising" that DMR wants on a high traffic,
highly visible and professional mail list.

Can you guess their probable reply?

I am sorry if I have offended anyone but to me a two word reply seems
downright ignorant.

Hence my argument if you do want to help dont

If you were a customer what would you think of a two word answer to a
solution ??

Not professional eitheir...

Peter,

Just what is the matter with you???

I'm sure that DMR acceptable use policy for email doesn't include this kind
of abuse.

Sure Patrick simply stated the obvious - but he didn't do it in an ignorant
way like your response.

If you don't know that requesting help from your Cisco rep to replace a
lost
CD is obvious then his advice was helpful.

Otherwise you do yourself and your company a dis-service by going off the
deep end here.

If I were Patrick I would send this thread to hr @ DMR and ask their
opinion
if this is the type of "advertising" that DMR wants on a high traffic,
highly visible and professional mail list.

Can you guess their probable reply?

Re: VLAN's and Routers [7:2534]

2001-05-01 Thread Curtis Call

You could buy a special NIC card for your server that can handle ISL
encapsulated frames. It might be cheaper to buy a router though since I
don't think the lower end switches support ISL anyway.

2001-05-01 Thread Sean C.

Your apology is noted but I think you are in the wrong.

For someone losing their CiscoWorks CD I think an answer of your rep is a
perfectly logical and sufficient answer. He is under no professional
obligation to you - just trying to be friendly and help - maybe he is under
a deadline and could only afford a larger response.

I think your last response "Not professional either" is totally uncalled
for. I think you are the one that has shown the lack of professionalism.

Not sure if this answer is pedantic or nuanced, but HDLC does have a
role in ensuring that the receiver only passes correct data to its
upper layer: the error detection causes bad data to be dropped.

Reliable and "unreliable" protocols either have error detection
mechanisms, or have expectations that a layer below them will have
such mechanisms. The question is what to do when an error is
detected:

-- don't pass the data to the upper layer and, if there is a need
for retransmission, let the sender detect the need and act on it
(This, in general, is the IP way)
-- don't pass the data to the upper layer and send a request for
retransmission

(Forward error control and redundant transmission (e.g., SSCOP) are
beyond the scope of this discussion)

Re: DOS Command [7:2700]

2001-05-01 Thread Allen May

FDISK should be able to see it as a non-DOS partition to delete then you can
recreate and reformat.

FDISK /MBR is a really kewl feature that will kill a virus in the MBR. I
hear rumors of this feature being disabled in newer versions of Windows but
I haven't had an MBR virus to test this yet.

If FDISK can't delete the partition, use the Linux partition manager to kill
it first.

Re: Tacacs [7:2602]

2001-05-01 Thread Kevin Wigle

Ok, maybe I wasn't clear enough :-)

Unfortunately the issue I'm trying to investigate involves Tacacs+
configuration but I don't have access to the Tacacs+ servers - that's
"another" group.

What is happening is that a user dials in, gets authenticated and then is
identified as belonging to a group. Depending on that group, a L2F tunnel
gets created to a particular home gateway.

You're talking having more than one Tacacs+ server - I know that can be
done.

My quest is to find some redundancy in how the Tacacs+ server assigns a home
gateway.

When looking at example code:

vpdn-group 1
request dialin l2f ip w.x.y.z domain abc

It looks like only one ip address is allowed.

A colleague thinks that it is possible to have Tacacs+ choose a home
gateway.

And that's the question. Our configuration has multiple vpdn-groups and I'm
still trying to figure out how a user gets allocated to a particular
vpdn-group let alone discover if multiple gateways are possible. (a little
difficult since the "other" group doesn't share very well)

The end result is to have an automatic failover if the prime gateway goes
down that the call will be accepted at the secondary gateway.

Sorta like - if this destination is avail, use it - else use this one.

Is this clear???

hope so

Re: Token ring MTU to Ethernet MTU [7:2737]

2001-05-01 Thread EA Louie

Beware of applications that are sensitive to fragmented packets. If you
start seeing application response time increase OR your users begin to
experience connectivity problems (especially if there are any PeopleSoft
applications on the network, which really don't like fragmented packets) to
app servers, sniff the segment on the Ethernet side and look for fragmented
packets AND the DF bit set.

Our solution was to reduce the MTU on the app server to something match
Ethernet's 1500 bytes MTU (I had to set mine to 1350, but I had GRE tunnels
and another weird fragmentation issue involved ).

Raul,
Please explain what you mean by "1 Ethernet interface".All cable/DSL modems
I have workd with(It has been a lot) have a Ethernet handoff. You need 2
Ethernet interfaces to connect a cable modem to a router and then to your
LAN. Also, I have not been able to get an IOS version for the Cisco 4000
that does IP Address DHCP as needed to be a dhcp client. I am currently
doing it with a Cisco 2514.

Re: VLAN's and Routers [7:2534]

2001-05-01 Thread Sammi

Are dual NIC's feasible? Seems on the surface to be cheaper and more
straightforward but haven't seen it mentioned so I may be missing
something.
I can actually give each department their own server but accessing the
email server would present problems.

RE: Lost Cisco CD [7:2727]

2001-05-01 Thread Ole Drews Jensen

I cannot help putting in a comment here.

It's funny how thin the line is between being lazy or not thinking and doing
the research and thinking yourself.

A question like "what's Cisco's website url?" would be lazy/stupid because
it should be very easy for an individual to figure that out, especially if
he/she wants to get certified.

A question like "I have applied this and this on my thirteen Cisco routers,
but for some reason router #4 and router #9 cannot 'talk' BGP with my router
#1, which is connected through a Token Ring MAU. Here's my conf from all
involved routers - can anyone help?" would be more 'acceptable', because it
could take many many hours to troubleshoot a problem like that if you're new
to it, but would only take a minute for a BGP guru.

However, if you're really doing your research and thinking and drinking
gallons of coffee, YOU WILL eventually find the solution yourself, and if
everyone did that, there would be no need for this list at all.

Now where do you set the border between a stupid/lazy question and an
acceptable one. That is probable a different place for each one of us on
this list. When I look back at when I posted my first questions on this
list, I almost want to crawl down in a small hole and disappear, because I
would have found many of the answers if I had just done a little research on
Cisco's website.

Sometimes I am so swamped at work that I do post one of those "lazy"
questions if I get an emergency situation with my Cisco equipment, because I
am hoping that someone that knows the solution to the problem can give it to
me in a couple of minutes, because I at that point can't spend the necessary
time doing the research.

Anyway, to end this e-mail, I would say that Patrick could have been a
little more informable, but Peter should not have replied back with that
kind of language.

Just my pair of cents,

Ole

Your apology is noted but I think you are in the wrong.

For someone losing their CiscoWorks CD I think an answer of your rep is a
perfectly logical and sufficient answer. He is under no professional
obligation to you - just trying to be friendly and help - maybe he is under
a deadline and could only afford a larger response.

I think your last response "Not professional either" is totally uncalled
for. I think you are the one that has shown the lack of professionalism.

sometimes, a 2 word answer is all they need (and want). and...how was your
response helpful in this case to the original poster? How does making other
people wrong serve you and the people around you?

To the original poster's question regarding the lost CD, *sometimes* the TAC
can assist, too, if you can identify yourself as a registered owner of the
software.

RE: Lost Cisco CD [7:2727]

2001-05-01 Thread Leigh Anne Chisholm

I have to agree with Kevin's comments, Peter. Patrick told you exactly who
your best resource is - and that's the Cisco Account Manager for your area
(also known as "your rep"). They would likely be able to get you what you
need the fastest. You needed an answer quickly, and Patrick provided that
answer (privately I might add). It was just a bit inappropriate to dress him
down in the list for a private conversation between the two of you.

Re: Excessive Retransmissions UPDATE [7:2553]

2001-05-01 Thread EA Louie

thanks for sharing and updating us. Just a few questions if you'd indulge
me, otherwise have a great day.

I'm kind of curious and very clueless since I don't know your network
architecture, but if you have a default gateway set on the AS/400 and IP
routing protocol running in your routers (even if it's static routes), then
unless you're running multiple NICs with multiple paths to the outside, why
would you need so many static routes in the AS/400 IP stack? Why (for
example) would you not have all your IP routing handled the the router
level?

I usually look at static routes on a host as a band-aid because I didn't
configure my network (read routers) properly - makes it hard for me to point
my finger at the clueless sysadmins for eliminting routes that they really
shouldn't need if I have a properly configured infrastructure.

And at the broadcast storm level, do you know why your routers were not
picking those up and routing them for the host? In other words, was ARP
working at the host and router level?

Hi Albert,

OmniPCX is not a product of NewBridge.

It was there even before the acqusition. The OmniPCX is a IP Telephont PBX
with the capability to connect to the LAN Data.

The OmniPCX technology is proprietary & proprietary Alcatel phone set has to
be used
to communicate with the PBX. For more detail you need to check with the
Alcatel
SE.

NAT Design [7:2766]

Thanks.

Why do people assume that there is a significant differences between
studying for CCNP and CCIE ? The same materials used for CCIE can be used
for CCNP , especially when it come to the practical.

Cisco Unity support [7:2776]

2001-05-01 Thread Jason Roysdon

Has anyone worked with the Unity product line? I installed Unity
ActiveVoice v2.45 voicemail back in February and it's working with no
problems in conjunction with CallManager 3.0(8) (as a uOne port). This was
my first Unity install, and I was happy to see it go as well as it did
(especially happy when we got the new driver that supports g.723a so we can
do compression for those accessing voicemail across the WAN).

Anyway, the time has come to install Unity ActiveFax. We're using a
separate box for faxing than voicemail, and using a Dialogic Gammalink
CPi/400 PCI board (4 analog ports). The board driver install went great,
and installing this server into the existing Exchange Directory was no
problem, and even the Unity software install went through without a problem.

But now, the docs just stop. No help whatsoever on making the ActiveFax
software integrate with either Unity ActiveVoice and/or CallManager. Unity
ActiveVoice has a configuration section for Fax Server, but it says it can't
find a Fax Server at the address I give it.

I'm about to place a call to Cisco TAC, but not sure of the results or even
what I should expect (mainly the logistics/politics on support). Current
release of "Cisco" Unity is at 2.46, and I hear it's mainly just a cosmetic
facelift (Insert CISCO LOGO/TRADEMARK here, etc.). Support for a few minor
issues with Unity ActiveVoice 2.45 and CallManager3 was great, so I'm
keeping my fingers cross.

Anyone else have any experience with the new Cisco Unity line? What bugs me
the most is that I've got approval to go to training so we can get our Unity
certification upgraded, but Cisco isn't offering it yet, and the original
owner of Unity, ActiveVoice.com, could care less about the product.

Err, that should have been g.729a. Shows how long since I've had to touch

I really should have taken the CVOICE as soon as we got this first AVVID

Re: Free Cisco CCIE labs [7:2705]

2001-05-01 Thread Jason Roysdon

I guess it all depends on your end-goal. If you're content with the CCNP
(or have some requirement to have just that), then why go into the depth of
the CCIE materials?

Anyway, the URL is accessible from:
Cisco.com -> Training/Certifications -> Select Certification -> CCNP
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/10/wwtraining/certprog/lan/programs/ccnp.ht
ml (watch the wrap).

You can click on any of the 4 exam links and get details on each test.

Wired magazine has useful content now? I looked at a few issues, was very
impressed with the print and image quality, but thought the content was
gossip level..

Re: NAT Design [7:2766]

2001-05-01 Thread Jason Roysdon

My first question is why do you want to do NAT? For security? NAT just by
itself doesn't firewall or protect you. If security isn't the issue and you
just want NAT, this will work. You can have multiple outside interfaces
that are NAT'd to the same inside interface.

My recommendation would be to use some of your public IPs for your outside
NAT. Even if you don't want to have it accessible from the internet, this
way they should be globally unique, and no matter what vendor connects to
you, you won't have overlapping address ranges, which would most likely
occur if you used private addresses (as other vendors could possibly be
using those same private addresses).

Passed CCNP [7:2786]

2001-05-01 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello group:

I began my quest for Cisco certifications in December 2000, after getting a
severance package (results of a merger) from the employer I spent 19 years
adding to their profits! Getting a servance was the best thing that could
have happened, even @ 48!! It enabled me to return to the field I enjoyed
earlier in my career, telecom.

The study materials I used and some subjective observations:

CCNA - CCNA Study Guide (2nd edition) by Todd Lammle. The e-trainer was a
great addition to an otherwise poorly written book. The book is laced with
errors but to Sybex credit there is an errata page!

CCNP - by order of study/exams
Switching by Sean Odom & Doug Hammond. Exam Prep also had many errors and
Coriolis had no errata page! I did like the Joe scenarios in this book.
However, Sean provided support for any questions via e-mails.

CCNP Routing by Claire Gough was a technically correct book but not a very
good read. It too, had errors and Cisco Press had no errata!

Remote Access by Craig Dennis & Eric Quinn was an Exam Cram book. A nice
resource if you already have the background. I don't recall many errors
with
this one.

Support Study Guide by Mark Buchman with an army of supporting writers!
This
was the best read among the books chosen. Had some errors in the most
unfortunate sections; frame relay and ISDN and no errata by Syngress.

I spent a grand total of $826.91 (including 5 exams) and plenty of hours of
self-study but it was well worth it!! I also purchased a discounted copy of
ACRC published by Syngress, I haven't completed reading it but thus far I
like the content.

My biggest complaint would be the quality of books out there! Particularly
at the introductory level, folks new to the profession may not necessarily
know the difference in what's in print and the facts. But then again I
suppose they could spend to attend a class conducted/prepared by these
same writers. It appears the quest for the "publisher" recognition and the
incoming dollars are the motivating factor.

My point is: obtaining a CCxx, MCxx or whatever cert indicates the ability
to
learn, not to write or teach!!

Now begin a quest to find a competent CCIE level book

Thanks

Rick

looking for lab scenario's! My apologies...

Here are links to ideas for designing and assembling your lab:

enable password "password"

en is ambiguous between "end" and "enable" - routers take the command
without complaining, but don't change the password. This has caught me out
before on routers, be interested to know if it affects the PIX also.

Studygroup for lab preparation?... [7:2795]

2001-05-01 Thread Gonzalo P.

Friends,

I think I remember having two options on what studygroup to join for the
CCIE preparation... One of them was meant for people who had already passed
the CCIE written and had a date for the Lab Exam. Is this correct? Is there
such studygroup? I learn a lot from the messages posted here, but, if there
is also another group I would not mind joining...

Let me know... thanks in advance.

G.P.

Remember that the router has an "enable secret" password that takes
precedence over the enable password (which is almost never used).

ok, my internet email was down for a few hours..

You didn't offend me but you should reflect on how your response looks to
the potential customers DMR could have from this list. You are using a
corporate email account and therefore everytime you hit that send button,
thousands of people have the availability to judge DMR through your actions.

If you can't see that then I can't help you either.

Bridging in Token ring environment [7:2804]

2001-05-01 Thread Kuldip Singh

Hi All,

In following Token ring environment if hostA sends an
explorer packet to find address and route information
of HostB then how many explorer packets are received
at HostB? What I read so far from the books the answer
is 6. Correct me if I am wrong. Also does it matter
what kind of bridging protocol in use such SRB, RSRB,
DLSw etc for NetBIOS or SNA traffic.

Re: retransmission of packets in WAN [7:2525]

2001-05-01 Thread Karen E Young

I stand duly correct by both of you. :-)

Please forgive the SNA goof. Its not something that I've ever worked with so
it doesn't stick in my mind all that well.

As for the HDLC/LAPB... I know better than that, I just wasn't thinking. All
I can say in my defense was that I had just gotten home from a dinner with
this fellow from Thrupoint. Too many caphirinas (spelling?).

Never mind what I think about the "Cisco way" argument . Cisco isn't the
be-all end-all of the universe, there are other fish in the pond and lets
leave it at that. :-)

Take care,
Karen

Internetwork Design Guide [7:2806]

2001-05-01 Thread Scott

The on-line Internetwork Design Guide has been recommended several times on
this list
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/cisintwk/idg4/

Unfortunately, such a large document can be difficult to work with through
the monitor. Thinking it looked familiar, I compared it with a book on my
shelf.
Cisco CCIE Fundamentals: Network Design and Case Studies
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1578700663/qid%3D988750320/107-269210
9-9525337
The hardbound book has the Internetworking Design Guide supplemented with
200 pages of case studies.

It is possible I am the last to realize this, but just in case.

Anyone want to trade a wic-1dsu-t1 or wic-2t for a 1602r router [7:2807]

2001-05-01 Thread Hennen, David

Hi, I picked up a cisco 2620 router and need to "fill the slots with
funtionality" Unfortunately I'm pretty well tapped out for a while. I have
a 1602R router that I'm not using at the moment. It has a 4mb flash card
and 12mb ram with 12.0.7 ip plus on it. I was wondering if anyone would
want to trade for a wic-1dsu-t1 or a wic-2t? Or if anyone wants to buy it
I'd sell for $350 which is what I paid for it before I bumped up the ram and
put a higher IOS on it.

If not it goes to Ebay

Let me know if you're interested

RE: OT Virus Alert (7:2801) [7:2808]

2001-05-01 Thread Kelly Dew

According to Symantec if you had the latest virus definition files then you
should have been fine. This virus is in the March 13 virus definition file,
and
I know that we are covered here at work with it. You might want to check to
make
sure that the machines really did have the latest virus definition files, and
contact Symantec to be safe.

This virus is a HIGH threat it seems.

I think you are looking for "netstat". Try "nestat ?" at the command line
for the options.

Re: ISDN BRI up but does not ping [7:2712]

2001-05-01 Thread Jaeheon Yoo

Hi, Shoaib.

First of all, you have to check if the ping packet is ever received by
the remote end, is it possible to "debug ip packet" at the remote end?
If it's not possible, check it at the center site with this.

access-list 110 permit ip 130.1.1.0 0.0.0.255 130.1.1.0 0.0.0.255
debug ip packet detail 110

If it's ever really sent to the remote end, then check if your isdn
interface of the remote end has any access-lists configured, which may
block return ping(echo reply) or any policy routing on that matter.

>From your post, I have found nothing wrong with ISDN configuration.
But one thing is missing at the remote end, you have to add
dialer-group command to reset idle timer when interesting packets are
passed. But I guess this is not directly related to your current
problem.

Please let me know how you solved the problem, if it's done.

Regards,
Jaeheon
