Vaughn Monroe was first on the charts with it in 1948. He was the first to
popularize it and the first to sing it on radio IIRC.

Vaughn Monroe was number one on the charts for singing Riders in the Sky in
1948.
Burl Ives singles list and chart rating doesn't show Riders in the Sky, but he
probably sang it since he tried nearly every popular song that came along.

Marty Robbins and Burl Ives had great voices. I remember watching Martys TV
show not long before he died. I still catch myself mentally singing those old
songs from the 30s to those sung during the Vietnam war. After that, I couldn't
tell you the names of singers or the songs they sang. Times and tastes change,
of course.

Letting a car sit until the E10 in it smells like crap will clog things up in a
hurry.
Drain that crap out and run 20 gallons of 93 octane Shell or a bottle of
Techron through it if that happens.
I experimented with E85 in the Saturn last year. This is a car that runs -10 to
-15 fuel trim on E10.
When I got up around 60% ethanol, assuming the E85 was really 85% (it probably
wasn't) it started setting a check engine light from long term fuel trim
getting over +25. (help, I keep adding fuel and the O2 sensor still claims it's
lean). Noticed a little more power with the E50, but after the experiment was
over I'm not sure it runs as well as it did before. Or maybe I got used to it
running stronger the month it was a fuelie.

That guy on Youtube, I think it's Practical Farmer, who does the silly oil
tests?
He did a silly gasoline test once. The part I didn't find silly was when he
soaked some sooty head bolts from an old Briggs&Stratton in V+ Shell and it
cleaned them up pretty well. Nice demonstration of what it's supposed to do to
EGR sooted intake valves over time.

I use Costco fuel in my cars exclusively, and have never had a problem. It’s
Top Tier stuff, so tossing an occasional bottle of Techron in them is a waste
of money.

I’ve never looked, but i wonder if there is an equivalent for Top Tier fuel in
diesel? I tell the eldest boy to always fuel up at our local Shell. The price
is competitive and it’s unlikely they would have crappy fuel. It’s a busy place
and turns fuel over pretty often as well.

That article says Stan Jones wrote it and recorded it in late 1948 or early
1949, and everybody else recorded it in 1949. But Wiki isn't always accurate.

BTW, this is what happens when my childhood Rock and Roll hero, Randy Bachman,
decides to record a western song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq94f49Q-fU
By 1977, BTO didn't get radio play in USA, the only reason I knew the song was
that I bought the album. Apparently Randy quit right after the album was
recorded. (it was on the Freeways album in 1977, I have no idea why the
youtuber used the 4 wheel drive album art)

Maybe our Randy heard it on the radio in western Canada?

BTO is good stuff.  I don't recall hearing that one before!   Sounds
like they had been listening to Mason Proffit.   Mason Profit blended
western, bluegrass, and rock with some blues thrown in for goog
measure.   They never reached big label stardom, but were a #1
regional/underground band. roughly 1968-74.  The album Movin Toward
Happiness is a masterpiece. Ive posted a link to one of their songs from
time to time.

REO Speedwagon was the same regional favorite in about the same time
period.   I was shocked when REO got mainline airtime in 1988-89 and
were introduced as a "new band" on west cost stations.  I thought they
were a huge success  in 1970_/+ y 5 yrs.

work okay, the snowblower doesn't mind it anyhow.

Does anyone have a 124 diesel with no heated wiper washer fluid bottle?

links, shocks, brake calipers, ABS Sensor in Diff., parking brake

As I recall, the diff has 2 big bolts at the back (10mm allen I think)
and 2 smaller bolts at the front.   I think these are all into the
subframe.  Is that right?

What is the best way to lower the unit?   I hope I can balance it on
the floor jack while I roll it out from under.

More important, what is the best way to raise the subframe  back up
into position?  Will I need stacks of blocks or an extra person to
help balance it on the jack as it goes up?

Need to replace the rear brake lines, brake hoses, possibly calipers,
Rt wheel bearing, parking brake cables,  weld up some rusted holes in
the body, patch others, derust, clean and paint subframe, and probably
replace the links.   May need to replace the park brake shoes while
there.   (YUK)

It has no antislip, so single brake line to the rear, and a T.   I
only need to replace the lines from the T out, and the hoses.

it is so that in normal resting position, there is no torque on the
rubber.  Normal running will then twist the rubber one way or the
other.   If you tighten them down in full down position, the rubber is
always torqued at rest, and overtorqued at full compression.   It is
only at rest when you are doing a bullitt and have the car flying

promoting some sort of injector cleaners.

I like Marvel Mystery oil in the tank with each fuel up. May be a waste of
cash, but the M117 really likes it. Djet hates the oxygenated fuels, so she
only gets ethanol free around town. On the road, I have to fuel up at normal
pumps and the car runs like crap until I fill with good fuel.

Buyer showed up at 0900 with a buddy. I gave them the keys, showed him how to
glow and where the parking brake was, then set them on their test drive. It
took them about 20 minutes to thrash the car enough to convince him to hand
over $700. Filled out the title transfer and learned that the Soviet Socialist
State of Washington put into place a fee upon the seller of car for selling a
car. $14 for what used to be free. Then they will charge the new owner $250
to transfer title and register the car.

What a scam.

I am down to driving the SL for Xmas dinner visit to family. 60 mile round
trip. I will fill her with unadulterated petrol, put something in for her
winter storage to keep the fuel fresh and put her to bed until I return this
spring to put her on the block.

She is a Kaleb Car. Silber Grun on green leather, with Dunkle Grun top and
hubcaps. All factory.

The move was seen locally as a middle finger to the union. I seem to recall is
following on a prolonged labor action that shut things down for a while. May
have been coincidental to opening the SC plant that has no unions. It did open
up a bunch of very large and expensive residential real estate, which impacted
the top of the market when the executives moved to ChiTown

My nephew in law took an executive job with Amgen in February, got laid off on
Halloween or the day before.
They bought a 4bdr house in W Greenwich RI in April. You know what it's like to
sell an executive level home in western RI when the only major employer nearby
just laid off a bunch of executives? Pfizer was the only one willing to offer
$100k of capital loss protection as part of their new hire relocation service,
so his next job was with Pfizer. Then he got his W2, $100k more taxable wages
than he expected...

On sls cars the sls valve adjust does the height.

I just made the axle shafts about level on the bench and tightened
everything down. It is hard enough to get it all tight on the bench; like
10 fasteners of varying sizes per side. Complete pain. It is about right
once the sls is adjusted to replicate the position in situ.

Have any of you found a particular brand to wear longer

How about places to buy them? Are the ones sold at Wally World worse
quality than those sold at other places? How about Tractor Supply?

I've had very good fit and wear from the LL Bean jeans, but I bought them

Real Merkuns wear Blue Bell brands:  Wrangler, Rustler etc. or bib
overalls.  (or carrhart if you want to flash you used to have cash)
I wear wranglers.   They have "outlet" stores all over.  Or you can buy
the cheap ones without the W on the back pockets at places like wallyland.
I figure I get about 1 year out of a $17 pair.   When I was in HS,
Wrangler supported the rodeo circuit, and Billy Minnick had his
signature on Wrangler cowboy cut and boot cut.  They also fit well.

Real men wear wranglers, (or carrhart)   Pencil neck geeks and q ueers
in NY and SF wear le vis

For Bibs, I've been getting Key, because that is the only brand I can
find.  About $34, and they also last about 1 year of everyday wear.  THe
new ones are Sunday Bibs, the next newest are Saturday Bibs.  Then there
are Everyday Bibs, and when patched they become undercar work bibs.

I've also had wrangler Khakis, and their tan work jeans that are sorta
competing with carrhart.  The lightweight ones wear also about a year
for $14-15.   I've not bought the heavy weight ones tht really compete
with carrhart.

I will never buy anything made by Le vi, the commie lovers.   When they
made a big deal of announcing they would not donate to the Boy Scouts,
20 yrs ago or so, I swore off their overpriced crap.  I never bought
their overpriced jeans anyway.   They could have quietly quit supporting
BSA, but rather than that they attempted to inflict as much damage as
they could to BSA.  Screw them!

I never could justify the price of carrhart, but have considered them
from time to time.
