I'm using JFW 11 and WMP 11, and I can check and uncheck the files in the list view to be ripped. I just use the space bar. The files are checked by default. When I hit the space bar, it unchecks the file I was on and moves to the next file. I can use the arrow keys to review what is and isn't checked. -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Tom Kaufman Sent: Thursday, December 03, 2009 12:09 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: CD Ripping Question In response to the instructions to "ripping a CD with Windows Media: can one "check and uncheck" using a screen reader like Jaws 11? Yeh, use F4 to bring up the settings dialog and go over to the Remote CDDB tab and configure the remote CDDB database you want to use. I'm not sure what the default is, but I use the remote DB freedb.freedb.org, the protocol of CDDB and a port of 8880. First, before inserting the CD, start WMP and click on the Rip Menu button and make sure "Rip CD Automatically when Inserted" is not checked. Now insert your CD. Re: CD Ripping Question
High Tom, I have run in to the same problem that you're having over and over again. To tell you the truth, I don't really think that can be done. When your computer is ripping a CD, it is using Windows Media Player to do it. I am told that you can use Winamp to rip a CD one track at a time, but I've never tried it, so I don't know how true that really is. But if you really just want just one track off of that CD, you can use Switch to convert the .CDA to MP3 or some other audio file format. My best regards. RE: CD Ripping Question
Yes, I think it can be done. First, you'll need to go into WMP and configure it not to automatically rip the whole CD. Next, when you insert a CD and bring up WMP, you can go into the CD ripping view and just select the tracks you want to rip. I'm doing this from memory, but I'm fairly certain it can be done. If you need more specific steps, maybe someone else who has used WMP more recently to RIP CD's can help. -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Tom Kaufman Sent: Tuesday, December 01, 2009 7:35 PM To: PC audio discussion list. RE: CD Ripping Question
Hi, I would like to try EAC, because I feel other rippers make my tunes sound to 'bright' most often. I currently use JFW 6.2 Pro, Windows XP Pro/Media Center, WMP 11 or fre rip. My comp is hooked up to home theater using large 7.1 speakers. Does EAC allow for conversions to MP3 or WMA for transprtation to my sirius Stileto portable? thanks in advance! Why do you suppose that is? the documentation on the Internet is a little cryptic, but it identifies all the codes to arrange a file name of the user's choice. Re: CD Ripping Question
Hello, I use Exact Audio Copy and LAME for MP3 encoding. Exact Audio Copy can also encode with the lossless FLAC format and I rip music CD’s in FLAC. EAC scans each track twice and compares the .wav forms. If there is not a match, it scans the track more than 20 times trying to obtain two results that match the closest. In this way, EAC achieves perfect or near perfect rips of CD’s. Because the encoder is external, I can use the latest versions of LAME and FLAC for ripping. With CDEX, this is tricky to do and one is generally left with the outdated technology. With EAC rips, you will be satisfied with the results for your lifetime. It is that good. I can find nothing to indicate which drive has focus for the program and trying each drive yields the same results. Just out of curiosity I pressed F8 to begin the rip, but nothing happens. No error shows whatsoever. The program appears to be waiting for me to do something, but I can't see what that might be. Helo, you can use free alternative The Cdex. Easy cdda extractor is not free. If you have a lycense code it is ok. If not, you can download Cdex. I think that it will be good alternative for you. Re: CD Ripping
Hi, CDex will allow you to rip a CD as one big file. I do this all the time with no problems. What you need to do is make sure all tracks are selected, control_A usually does the job if it isn't automatically done for you, and then in the convert menu, select the 'Convert a Section' of the CD. The title of the dialog is misleading because if you have all tracks selected, then the 'selection' you convert is actually the entire CD in to one large track. the shortcut key for this is F10, I believe. !~Ann Bruce Toews wrote: > I am looking for a program that will accurately rip a CD, putting all > tracks into one file the length of the disk, an option not available > with CDex. I have traditionally been using Easy CD-DA Extractor for this, but in 11.5.3 I have not been able to to easily choose my file storage location, nor have I been able to find the checkbox for ripping all tracks into one file. Any viable and reasonably simple solution would be appreciated. RE: CD Ripping Dilemma
I also rip using WMP 11 and have no accessibility issues. You tab over to window displaying the files and merely uncheck the ones you don't want to rip - by default, all are selected. You then tab over once and hit start rip. In preparation, you go into rip menu settings and choose the configuration you want to rip in, such as file format, bit rate and etc. HTHBest Regards, Cornell> From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org> Subject: RE: CD Ripping Dilemma> Date: Sun, 6 Apr 2008 23:11:46 -0400> > I find no feature in the Windows Media Player ripping program that's not> accessible. Re: CD Ripping Problems
Ok problem solved. Should you run in to this trouble here's how you fix it. For winamp you need to copy the wnaspi32.dll in to the winamp folder. For easy cda extractor you need to copy the wnaspi32.dll in to the windows\system32 folder. I replaced the one I had in the system32 folder with the new one that Nero6 uses. That solved it for me. I'm running Easy cda extractor 10-A and I believe he has a slight bug in this version. When he created the tracks all that worked fine but he wrote a blank .m3u file at the end so please be aware of that. So I'm a happy camper again. djc's Jukebox: http://paulmerrell.net:9212 Saturday Evenings 9 to midnight Eastern. Re: cd ripping
Hi list, I use Easy CD Creator to rip tracks in to wave files. That way if I need to tweek with the volume of anything I can go in to Fast Edit and edit some things like that. I also convert to wave files so I can see at a glance how much time I have on the cd. Let's say you keep all the tracks in 1 folder, just look at how big the folder is and there you have it. If I want to convert to mp3s, I use Razorlame and usually go at a bitrate of 320. No loss of quality that way. Just my thoughts.
