Pasted Text reflow
OK one more little thing from ex PMMail Customer :) The reflow and wrap options work fine when I am typing a message directly. But if I paste either from clipboard of a file (I often use pasted canned messages) it doesn't reflow but shows up as one very long line you have to horizontal scroll to read. I can ALT L to get it to left justify and reflow, doing a paragraph at a time. If I highlight all the text it all gets combined in one huge paragraph which of course I don't want. I have auto wrap and auto format on and wrap at 72 lines. But doesn't if pasted text. Am I missing something simple...probably... Re: Version 1.60 and Common Folders
Hi TBUDL, I have been a (mostly) happy TB! user for a couple of years. However I have just upgraded from 1.54 to 1.60 and I am worried and unhappy. I have two accounts and a number of folders and filters in each account. TB! 1.60 has created duplicate folders of many of my folders outside of the accounts. Messages are now contained in the new folders and in the old folders inside the accounts. In addition a number of my filters are now not working or the behaviour is different. >From reading this list I notice a new topic "Common Folders" so I looked for an explanation in the Help File. NOTHING - not a word! So next I looked in the "readme.txt" file history list. I see one line that says :- "[+] It is now possible to create folders "outside" accounts" Is that it? Is that a full explanation? I didn't ask TB! to do this. Why has it changed my folders without asking or even advising me? Why is there nothing in the "Help File" on what seems to me to be a major behaviour change? I have been a great fan of TB! and recommended it to several friends and colleagues but RITLabs this is not the way to go. Perhaps I am missing the obvious, if so, I apologize for my frustrated mood. Is there some beautiful clear explanation on this for me? Can someone show me where I'm missing the point. Best regards, Steve Mullarkey. mailto: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tascom Pty Ltd. Re: maybe I'm dense but...
I did similar to what you are doing but soon realized that the change the sending ID very often just to defeat that method. What I have found best is having a filer for each of the various list groups I listen to that looks at the TO field to divert them to the associated folder. Then next to the last filter is one that requires only that the sender be in my address book and if so, that mail goes into the standard INBOX. The final filter is the inverse of that. Any message this far down the chain and not in the address book goes to the Unknown or spam filter. About 90 percent of the mail that ends up in that filer truly is spam. The remaining are senders that I don't have in my address book and won't put there but not really spam. For that reason I have to give a casual glance at the folder contents prior to trashing them. This has worked very well and I don't have to continue to added ID's to a spam filter. Can't connect to 1 of my POP3 accounts
This is really strange. I installed TB! on my laptop and imported everything from my desktop using "restore". Everything came across great and appears to work. I reconfigured the setting for dial up since my desktop is DSL. One of my two accounts works just fine the other does not. The one that doesn't work dials the modem and acts like it's checking and sending mail but nothing happens. I double checked the mail and SMTP info and it's correct and reentered the password and still nothing. Any Thoughts? Only if it's working well should you proceed with the rest of the steps. Otherwise, restore your old installation, and we can discuss how to transfer it to your new system. If you've successfully upgraded you can do the following: a) Go to the Tools menu and select 'Backup'. Tick all the items there, select 'Standard' backup and hit the 'browse' to indicate where you wish the backup file to be placed and the name you wish to give it. Now run the backup. b) On the new machine, install TB! v1.60c. You may be asked if you wish to restore a from a backup during this installation (new feature that I haven't personally seen in action). If so, then give it the backup file to work with and you're done. If not, not to worry. Do what I had to do. :-) Just continue with the installation, create an account as instructed (and which you'll delete after restoring your installation). When you're finished with that part go to the tools menu and select 'restore'. Add your backup file and tick all the items at the bottom and go. - -- Allie C Martin -- List Moderator PGPKey - mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] [MUA: TB! v1.60c (*) OS: Windows XP 5.1.2600] __ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6-2 (MingW32) iEYEARECAAYFAjynX9sACgkQV8nrYCsHF+ITJgCfe5md3vtVbnj0dgbIy+tcJXNp TYAAnR6F+njDsChxVVUjZewD+th0JYDA =5RrJ -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current Ver: 1.60c FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'd suggest you try just with one until you understand everything and get it working. I didn't get it working on first trial either, I even restarted from scratch (un-installing and reinstalling) a couple of times. > I tried to download 50 latest postings on each of these groups but > managed to get over 500 from one group, about one hundred from > another and not one from the three others. Oh dear... That I have clear now, I think. When in the Properties for a Newsgroup you select for example to "Only Download 50", that is the maximum it will download "per session". But if you have selected "Ignore articles older than XX days", and there are 1000 "younger" than XX days, it will download 1000 articles, 50 per session. > Also I couldn't figure out how to make the news to mail gateway > work... :-( Than may depend on how you want to get the articles (as e-mail) into TB. Obviously, in the Properties for each Newsgroup you have to select the Mail Gateway tab and tick (select) the Enable Mail to News Gateway option. Then you have to Add the e-mail address where you want your news articles sent as e-mail. Click on Add and include this e-mail address in the "E-Mail Address to post to" and on the "To: Field for messages" (which will be the address you have to send your replies from TB!) I suggest that you use the default suggested by MailTraq. Also, before closing the Properties dialog for a newsgroups, if you want to be able to post and reply to this newsgroup from TB!, select the News Gateway tab and tick Enable News to Mail Gateway. > Any step-by-step help would be very much appreciated! I assume you have gone through the step-by-step Getting Started Wizard that automatically executes after installation. Anyway, to make sure you have set the "proper" configuration, you can run it again at any time from Help/Getting Started Wizard. Then, the only other thing I can' think of is the "Outbox Properties" (Options/Outgoing Mail). Here you have to include the Remote Mail Server where you have the e-mail account that you selected in the News to E-mail Gateway. In my case, I have included here the IP address of my own mail server in my office. But it can be any remote server (e.g your ISP's server if that's the account you have selected). I find that Created in general is more "real". I have imported some e-mail folders from my previous e-mail client (some with messages several years old) but, for TB!, they have been Received just a couple of days ago. I now have in a same folder messages much older than those that were already in the folder, but that have been received much later. While it is true that TB! "receives" messages when imported, it would be good if while importing it had an option to set Received date/time equal to Created. Some thing happens with some accounts that don't use very frequently, or some that I don't check while I am on travel, the Received time may be weeks later than Created -- Best regards, Miguel A.
