First, just continue to receive mail as you do now and for each spam you find, use the menu Specials - Mark as Spam (I have assigned that to Alt-J (for junk) on my system). It will have assumed everything is ham (i.e. non-spam) until you mark it as such, so you don't have to do anything about those. Bayesit 0.5.11
Hello, Just installed Bayesit 0.5.11 and had a couple of problems that I thought I would share. I have managed to work around them, but hopefully it is something that can get fixed in the future. After I deleted all traces of the old version, I installed the new one, then started TB and added the plugin. everything *seemed* to be fine. Next I wanted to start training it with my saved spam, so I highlighted the 2232 spam messages I had saved for training. I watched the little 'status window' count through all those messages and *try* to close the status window. That was as far as things got. The TB and my system hung to the point where C-A-Del was needed to restart the system. End Task did not even work. OK ... so re-boot, remove bayes it and all traces of data, re-install and do the same thing using the 2545 *NON* spam messages and this worked just fine. Go figure. Everything seemed to be fine, so I went back to Spam training. But this time I processed it in blocks of between 300 and 450 messages and everything seemed to work fine. I think this has something to do with trying to move the processed messages from my holding folder to the Junk folder. When I did the spam training in those smaller blocks, the processed messages were moved from my spam archive folder to the junk folder. But when I had tried to process the whole batch at once, nothing was moved. strange encodings
Hello all, I have had something strange happen twice now, so I thought I would ask and see if anyone has any ideas. I am subscribed to a mail list much like this one. Twice now when I have replied to emails from the list (going back to the list), the messages ended up being in base-64 plain text instead of 8-bit plain text. It happened the first time many months ago when I was using an older version (ver 1.46 IIRC) and then again just yesterday. I sent out three replies to the list and only the middle one had the problem. So I am guessing it has something to do with the original message. But I did not get any indication that the message I was replying to was anything other than plain text. There is a file called bayesit.log in your documents and settings SC folder, name, application data, bayesit (in Windows 2000). It has info SC like the following: SH Found it. TVM. SH Hmmm. SH It's very black and white; the only scores are 0, 99 and 100. Sort of. The number you might want to look at is the one just above 'Value for The Bat!:' that is labeled 'Spam-grade:' That is the one that has the actual calculation based on the key words shown below. -- Best regards, MikeDmailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v2.00.6 on Windows ME 4.90 Build 3000 Current version is 2.02.3 CE | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: TB ZoneAlarm - Dupes

SM I have a Mailtraq mail server installed and working locally on my SM machine and have everything configured so that everything works almost SM perfectly except, with the personal firewall running, every so often SM TB! will download duplicate messages from the server. There appears to SM be no pattern to which duplicate messages are retrieved i.e. they SM could be from last week or from 10 months ago. I can find no help on SM this matter from the firewall help file and cannot get the web-based SM tech support to work for me either so was hoping that someone out SM there has a similar setup that works ok. SM Incidentally, I only noticed this happening using TB! version 2.01.3 SM so rolled back to the previous version but the problem didn't go away. SM Also, with the same personal firewall installed on another machine in SM the same LAN i.e. a machine that does not have a mail server on, SM everything works OK, there are no dupes - the firewall is SM configured in exactly the same way on both machines. The presence of SM the mail server on the problem machine is obviously the key here. Turn SM off the firewall and everything works fine. SM Any ideas? Perhaps it is a problem of TB getting the messages from the local server *AND* the ISP's remote server. You might try configuring the firewall to block TB from the internet so that TB can only get to the local server. That is about the only idea that comes to mind. I use TB and the real ZAP without any issues, but I do not use a local server either. -- Best regards, MikeDmailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v2.00.6 on Windows ME 4.90 Build 3000 Current version is 2.01.3 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Hello Mark, Can you filter on one of the other parts of the message? If there is a link, maybe the URL ... what about some part of the From address?
